http://www.flickr.com/photos/38613279@N03/...57622519190863/ I finally remembered to take my camera. I think this is the prettiest tree. Can anyone tell me what the green is growing on it?
Shortcup:
From what I can tell from the photos, this looks like Pleopeltis polypoioides.
This commonly called “Resurrection Fern” or “Little Gray Polypody”, is an epiphytic, or tree-climbing, fern that will sometimes cover the trunks and limbs of a tree. When the fern's fronds dry they curl up. When they receive sufficient moisture, they revive, giving it the nickname "resurrection fern".
If you’re into ferns, get a copy of “Peterson Field Guide to Ferns”.
I have a tree like that on my place here. :)
