Amarice leaned further out over the white railings surrounding the balcony of the room she had gotten. The scent of the ocean came swiftly and strongly into her face, and she basked in the warmth that it brought with it. The only thing she needed right now was a break. A break from expectations and a break from the failure her parents always seemed to see in her.

And she was getting it right now. Amarice watched the people on the beach many floors below her. She had managed to get a room on one of the highest floors, and the view was amazing. Not that she didn't always get this view- her family's house was in a location much like this one. But she always got humbled from the sight of the ocean vanishing into the horizon.

Without truly thinking about it, Amarice walked around the room collecting things for the beach. She packed her white bikini with the heart cut out at the hip, her big sunglasses, a towel and her bag that included lotion, her phone, and a million other things she probably wouldn't need in a million years.

Amarice took another look around the room before opening the door and walking down the quiet hallway.

"Woah," the girl muttered, surprised. When she saw her friend's face, she was elated. This weekend was turning out to be better than her expectations had couched for.

A couple of hours ago, Alicia had packed her bags, headed for the door, and made her way to Hotel Resort on the beach...with her parents, of course. Right now, of course, they were at the souvenir shop with her 12 year old sister. She had the room to herself, so she'd decided to pack up and head down to the beach.

Now, there she was, standing right in front of her friend.

"Am!" she said, spewing her arms out and wrapping them around her friend's slender figure. She loved the girl, there was no denying it. "You're staying here too, huh? Man, this weekend's gonna be amazing," she said, winking.

"Oh, I'm sure it will be." Amarice said with a smile. Alicia's happines was infectious, and it was hard to stay miserable.

She stepped onto one of the hand railings on the side of the brick path leading to the sand, keeping one hand on Alicia's shoulder for support. She carefully stepped forward, her blue and white polka-dotted flip flops sliding on the bar. "First you've got a y-o-u," She stated in a sing-song voice.

"And you've got a m-e..." She added in the same voice as she hopped off the bar, landing backwards and facing her friend as she walked backwards. "Anndd..." She spun around as her flip-flops were suddenly filled with sand. "You've got many hott guys that must have money if they're staying here!" She laughed and smiled.

Amarice leaned close to Alicia's ear. "I enjoy being me." She whispered, before waving at a cute guy a few yards down the beach.
