Amarice squinted into the sun as she surveyed the area. It was open, very open. Hardly any other students were out, which was a very rare happening.

Okay, during free times it was a rare happening. But really, who needs English? She speaks it everyday. It really doesn't matter. It's like the same reason she takes Spanish: To raise her GPA. She is Spanish, after all.

Finally, the black haired girl decided on a sunny spot right in the middle of the lawn. She spread out her medium sized towel from Gym class, and pulled out one of her books. She read a couple pages, before getting bored and rolling over on her stomach.

Idly, she watched a couple clouds drift along her field of vision. Around her, the breeze wrinkled and sent things flying. It was somewhat calming, and somewhat eerie.

Soon that too bored her, and she stood up.

Study hall. Sort of a waste of time, really. Emilie was the one of the few who actually did their homework at home (shock, I know) so study hall always ended up being more of a place for her to read a book for an hour or add some new lyrics or stories to her infamous notebook. Today, though, she hadn't brought a book and she really felt like ready something in the study hall so she went and asked the teacher if she could go to the library and since she was a good student and trustworthy, the teacher let her.

Emilie smiled and walked out of the room and in the direction of the library. Walking through the courtyard and on her way to her destination, Emmy noticed a familiar girl lying down in the grass. She shook her head at laughed softly. Amarice sure was an original. She watched as she stood up and Emilie walked over to her. A little detour couldn't hurt. Plus, it wasn't like she was missing a real class anyway. "Shouldn't you be in class?" She joked with a sweet smile. She walked up and gave her a friendly hug.

"Should be? Yes. Has'ta be? No way." Amarice said with a smile as Emilie walked over. "Not all people are lucky like you and have study hall..." She stuck her tongue out teasingly at Emilie. She did actually have a study hall, but it had been earlier in the day and she was already morning the loss of it.

The wind blew several more leaves towards them, and Amarice silently watched them bend and twist at the winds will. She'd always admired the wind, if that was possible. It was one of those things you loved for no reason. "So, Miss Emilie, what have you been up to? Not partying, I'm guessing." She teased again, smiling.

Emilie gave a proud smile at the fact that she had study hall and laughed as Am stuck out her tongue. Amarice was skipping a real class but didn't seem to care and, although Emilie wouldn't do that, she wasn't one to nag. Plus, now she had someone to hang out with instead of just going to the library and desperately searching for something to entertain her for however much longer of this class she had left ahead of her. Yes, this was a good alternative, she was sure about that.

Looking a little timid in response to the girl's question, Emilie looked down at her feet then looked back up at her with a shy, soft laugh. "No. No partying for me." She said with that innocent smile of hers playing on her lips. Amarice was a good friend of hers but she still felt a little insecure around her. She was this fun, spontaneous girl who was enjoying her teenage years for what they were but Emilie just wasn't that kind of girl. Sure she was fun but she had a different view of what was fun than most people her age. In all honesty, she'd never been to a house party. You know, one of those keggers where everyone is completely carefree mostly because they're so drunk they can't see straight. No, she was more likely to be seen doing something like bowling on a Friday night.

"What about you, Miss Amarice," Emilie asked with a soft laugh, sort of mocking her. "What have you been doing?" She continued.

Amarice sighed and dropped back down to the ground, stretching her legs out and reaching over to her right one. A series of cracks echoed through her bones, and Amarice cringed. She hadn't stretched in a while, and it was apparently taking a tole.

She squinted as light filtered into her dark eyes and looked up at Emilie. "Mocking me, are you?" She asked, pretending to be taken aback. In all reality, she could care less that she was being teased by one of her friends. "I've been doing nothing. And quite truthfully? It's boring." Dramatically, she tossed a hand against her forehead and fell back on the ground. "Doesn't anyone skip class anymore? Or at least go outside during study halls?"

Emilie watched as her fabulously dramatic friend flopped back onto the grass. She didn't answer her seemingly rhetorical question but instead sat down beside her and laughed in response instead. She knew that Amarice couldn't care less if someone, especially one of her friends, made a little joke at her expense. Sarcastic remarks were few and far between with Emilie but sounded sweeter than most compliments from any other anyway.

"Yep, me." Emilie answered, giving a big, fake, proud smile. She laughed and just looked down at Amarice and shook her head. The girl was a one woman show; very entertaining, but still friendly enough that it wasn't usually even close to being obnoxious. Folding her legs off to the side and crossing her ankles, Emilie put her hands down on the ground, resting her weight on them and letting the sun soak her pale face. It really was a beautiful day.
