Title: Help with audio clips

Nikkhele - April 30, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
I'd like to make a BG theme for my computer, some of it using audio clips from the show. I have a thememaker programme, but for the life of me I don't know how to extract audio clips from either the DVDs or the video clips I have, to make them into little .wav files. Anybody know how to do this? Is there some special programme I need? Preferrably something free :)

Thanks!

Not sure it works, but you could give it a try. Or check videohelp.com

Hi Jules2,

I won't have time today but I'll check this out and let you know if it works. It has a free trial that I can use despite its limitations. Hee.

Thanks!

WOOHOO!! I got this thing to work!

For anyone else who might want to give this a try....

Besides the River Past main programme, I also had to download the AC-3 converter, and RP prompted me to do it so I wasn't in the dark about why it initially wouldn't work. Also, most of the ancillary downloads you might need are right there on the website, but I only needed the one. Cool!

Additionally, it didn't work until I changed the Output compressor from "Windows Media Audio V2" to "MPEG Layer-3", but after that, it worked like a charm. Sweeet ;) However, at first, when I moved the file to specific sound functions, I couldn't hear anything, even though I could hear the audio file if I opened it through WMP. So I'd say play around with the different compressor choices to find the one that's compatible with your computer.

Finally, I really won't need to buy this programme because the limitations on the trial version are that it won't convert more than 2 minutes of any given file. However, I only need a few seconds to get the audio I want. So, very cool.

Thanks again, Jules2, for steering me in the right direction :)
