Title: finding posts
msalt - July 6, 2007 12:48 PM (GMT)
i know the search feature on the board is in some sort of flux. is there any change happening with that? last time i tried to use it, it was pretty useless. that's sort of a general search question. but specifically, is there any way of finding all posts by a certain member? for example, yourself? i know i asked a question on the board before, but don't remember where. i'd rather find that discussion than go over old ground.
thanks.

Not that I've come across so far. Have you tried putting
msalt plus another keyword into the search form?
http://z4.invisionfree.com/Nikki_and_Helen....php?act=SearchIf you don't mind me asking, what was the question that you are looking for?
abzug - July 6, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
Search doesn't work. MJN and ILMJN have more info, but we won't have search until the board software is upgraded to the new version. I don't know what their planned timeframe is on that.
But I am sure Cassandra can find whatever you're looking for. :)

heheh. that's true, i hadn't figured in the lo-tech approach. :D
and the question was just about whether "fuck" is allowed on shows like bad girls. shell says "what the fuck" to fenner after the fashion show is cancelled, and it surprised me. but i seem to remember being surprised by hearing it before. of course, i don't trust my memory as far as i can throw it, so ....

If my memory serves me, the rules on swearing changed drastically from year to year. S4 they started using the word "twat" a ridiculous amount, I suspect because certain other words were no longer permitted.
It would be time-consuming, but you could always do some text searches on the various recaps that are out there:

Haven't found it yet but probably going to have to go soon. Will try again tonight.
I've found a post where you asked what Logo did with the 'Shit happens' scene (
http://z4.invisionfree.com/Nikki_and_Helen...dpost&p=1622500). That wasn't what you were thinking of, was it? Can't believe they blanked it out!!!! !

nope, that wasn't it. and please, don't waste time looking for this! it's so not important! i feel bad thinking of you poring over the board looking ....
abzug, good point about rules changing over time. but it just struck me because i remember on the DVD outtakes, in the nikki-shell fight scene mandana chastised herself for "using the f-word" in one of the takes. and that's also in the first season.

No worries! I've given up now anyway .... you're on your own with this one, I'm afraid. Only reason I mentioned the previous link was cos it later turned into a discussion of what was allowed on American TV.
Good Luck! :)

I don't think they *were* allowed to use fuck until late in the game--I remember being distinctly surprised hearing someone say it in the 7th series & thinking, gee, that sounded gratuitous. It wasn't even a very important scene/moment, as I recall.
But Shell doesn't actually say Fuck, nor does anyone else: she & the other say What the <fuh-noise> or 'kinnell or stuff like that.
Oh--and re Search feature... yeah, what Abzug said. And yes, it has been tough working around that, I hope we'll have a lot more flexibility on the new board. Sorry, I don't know more about it at this time. -e

I am not a Brit, just a very big fan of British TV. From all the shows I've seen, I've gathered that the word "fuck" is just not used that often in Britain. I seem to think it has been replaced with "softer" words such as "sod", "sodding", "shag", etc. If it is not used that often in everyday language, it would make sense that they don't use it as often on TV as the Americans would (especially in their movies).

Well done microsofty! :clap
F**K! The search engine actually picked it up first time but I didn't bother looking at that link since it was Series 4! ;)

aww, you rock! well, maybe next time i hear someone say fuck in BG, i'll stop being surprised!

Howdy -
I've been having trouble with the search function, too. Have done searches on words I know were used in discussions, but no posts come up.
In particular, right now I want to find out whether people have discussed the musical score (vs. the soundtrack, which I've seen discussed extensively) -- characters' themes, etc.
And on another note, although I barely post, I very much enjoy members' thoughtful comments. Many thanks.

Rivergal, hi! :) The search feature is basically busted, but if I know Abzug she will be posting momentarily to help you with your question on the Musical: and in general, doing just what you're doing--posting with specific questions--will usually bypass the Search problem... because there are people on the board 24/7, & most often you'll get an answer right quick! Best, ek

Hi there -
To clarify, I'm looking for posts on the score for the TV program, which means the background music composed expressly to set the tone and enhance the script. (Versus the score to the musical.) Looks like no one else has posted on this, so I'll do some thinking on the topic and throw my hat in the ring.
Cheers,
rivergal
