Title: Where and for how long?
Description: tell us how you met your partner

BGEp1,2&3 - August 22, 2007 10:14 AM (GMT)
I am curious how you all have met your partners/spouses and how long you two love birds have been together? :hug2

I shall start-

First off I thought I had met my partner thru myspace and for the first few weeks it was really intence, and totally not right at the same time. :eek

And all the while someone else kept popping into my life just as a friend...And before long I realised who I was in love with and who i was infatuated with.

Now that friend has totally changed my life and how I look at people...I just didn't think it was possible...

We have only been together for a month...but im sure she is the one... and she tells me she feel's the same way. As neither of us has experienced anything like what we are feeling, about another person.

And we met thru Purplecats Forum about 6 months ago when I offered to beta read one of her stories.

Hi BGEp1,2&3, congrats on your relationship. :)

I (sadly) just got out of a longterm relationship this summer, so I've been a bit broken hearted. Hopefully though someone wonderful will be just around the corner. :)

As many of the original Muppets know :hug2 , I met my g/f here on this message board. Don't need to go into details, but my closest friends here know my story. After moving halfway across the country to be with PG, we're about to celebrate our first year together in two weeks.

This board has brought me so much happiness  and so many wonderful friends from all over the country and all over the world.

There are more stories like mine and 4us.

MISS MY MUPPETS!!!!! :hug2 :kiss1

Am surfing through the board noticing old threads I've missed, and I figured I'd jump in on this one. My gf and I have been together for over 4 years, and we met on an online dating site. The modern traditional way, I guess. :) There's no dramatic love story or anything like that, just two people having both dated for a while finally meeting someone who we felt fully at ease with.

There was an episode of Will and Grace where Will and Grace found out their very good friends were getting divorced, and Will and Grace basically yelled at them and said something along the lines of "Don't do it! It's too hard to find someone who will put up with you!" And I laughed because that's exactly how I feel about my relationship--I found someone who can put up with me. And I don't mean that to sound non-romantic, just to kinda highlight a different kind of romance, not the firey (sp?) passion (which we had and have), but the amazing feeling of being with someone who brings out the best in you, and in whom you bring out the best. And so loving yourself more in relation to that person, and loving that person for themselves, and for how they make you feel.

We just bought an apartment together, which kinda makes it official, right?

Great topic.

I met my partner online 7 years ago, and we've been together ever since. She moved 3000 miles from her home to be with me, and every year that passes I only love her more.

I met my girl through friends of mine, pretty simply enough. And we've been together, hmm, almost a year and a half

LOL!
I met my partner in a dance club, actually an after hours club, in a not so savory part of town....I spotted her across the room and thought she was absolutely stunning, she tells me to this day she didn't believe I was looking at her until her friend told her that yes that was definitely the case...she is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen and we have been together a little over 17 years.... :hug

Wow 17 years? That is a long time. How sweet :)

Wow, 17 years is great!

I was recently asked how D & I met, to which I replied "at a gay bar", but it was a bit more involved than that.
I was in the ARA and working at a RAAF base and I was just coming out, which was doubley scary as it meant a dishonourable discharge then if I was found out. I didn't really know any Brisbane lesbians then, so I'd gone to a club by myself. I was scared and finding it hard to mix, and after my third drink was about to leave but some lovely woman took pity on me and started to chat. Some of her friends came over and introduced themselves, including D. I didn't really take much notice of her at the time, other that thinking she was acting kinda strange (later discovered she was trying to hide from someone - another story!).
A few weeks later I met D again in another lesbian club. This time I was with an army buddy and more confident (totally pissed), we chatted (shouted over the dance music) and she shoved her phone number in my pocket.
We went out a few times and got to know each other and we just both realised we fitted, it was like we'd known each other for ages. I knew it was love when I later got a posting order to Darwin & it felt like someone had ripped my heart out. At that stage homosexuals were allowed in the ADF but they would not recognise our relationship as defacto to allow me to travel back to Brisbane at government expense for the equivalent of 'conjucal' visits. Needless to say I took a discharge.
D & I have been together for 14 years now.

Me and ILMJNet met online. Actually through another Helen and Nikki fanfic messageboard in 2001 (i think) memories going!!

I remember everytime I saw her post something I would go see what it was and nearly always she made me smile. I just saw something in her words that spoke to me :hug2 We ended up drawn together and she asked me out before we even met or knew what each other looked like.

And our relationship just grows and grows. :kiss1

My partner and I met through an online dating service. We are total polar opposites and now know the true meaning to "opposites attract"! We've been together three and a half years. Ha... I told her she needs to learn to speak with a Scottish brogue! hehehee :)

Sometimes it gets tough because we are so different and she doesn't understand my "addictions" :) (Mamma Mia and Bad Girls..hahaha) She's calm and quiet and I'm affectionate and spur of the moment kind of gal. Live for the day because life is too short!

Hi , I am new here–
My partner and I have lived together for 20+ years… we met at work (she was my boss…) and I think I am so caught up in Nikki and Helen’s story because it reminds me of what it was like for me when it all began (no I wasn’t in prison!)
Love this show and can relate especially when Helen tells Nikki in episode 1 Series 3 Back From the Brink that “it’s too strong what we feel.” Great writing and acting-great Simone and Mandana. Know what you mean about the Scottish accent--it's Mur-Der, makes me weak!

Photolady - April 17, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
Lark,
Welcome... I'm a newbie myself... but let me tell you I am a Bad Girls junkie! :) I'm a nut goofing off with family and friends and I can do all sorts of accents, but I am Scot-Irish and I can't do a bloody decent accent! Ahhh... but in me dreams I do hear Simone's "mur-der" and "serrrrious" :) I jokingly told my partner that if she kicks me to the curb, I'm moving to Scotland! haha (ok so maybe not so jokingly)

4us - April 17, 2008 01:13 PM (GMT)
This is a nice thread......it is always heartwarming to hear others tell of their own personal love stories...how two people meet and fall inlove is always a favourite topic to discuss, makes for much nicer listening than all the rubbish we are dished up each night on the news...

Oz and I celebrated another year but we still have a long way to go to catch up with some of you other ladies...one thing though we all seem to share is that it just keeps on getting better.....

:drinkies here's to all our beautiful partners........

:kisses

This mb has not only been a meeting of minds but a joining of soulmates.

:h5

Well, I too was looking through some of the old threads in here and thought this was a nice thread to join in on.

Although we are not together now, I met my ex gf on another Bad Girls website . We chatted on there for about 6 months before I braved it and took a plane to go and meet her, even though I didn't know what she looked like.
Could have gone horribly wrong but it didn't and we were together for 3 years. She did come to live in Oxford while we were together but we seem to end up wanting different things and i ended the relationship about 2 years ago.

I'm still single and looking for someone to have some fun with but i do believe there is "someone out there for everyone" .............if any of you see my "someone" please point her in my direction :hug2 :kiss1
