I listened to the band’s music on YouTube. It is pretty good. I love the name of the band. I am curious about how they came up with it. I thought the term mama was used primarily here in the American south. How common is it in Scotland?

Mama isn't really used much in Scotland, Ashley71. We do have a lot of Italian restaurants here with names such as "Mama mia" so it may have been influenced by Italian.
However I seem to remember that there was a song from The Simpsons with the words Mama mayhem in the chorus. I've just googled it .... song is called "God Bless The Child" and is a remake of the Billie Holiday song. The lyrics seem to differ between sites so am not so sure now! Anyway was just a thought! :)

Hi Cass, I feel relatively safe in saying you're thinking of the line
Mama may have, Papa may have
(but god bless the child that's got his own)...
Nothing about Mayhem in the song, although god knows what the Simpson's did with it of course, I didn't see that ep! :) --e

Thanks ekny!
That was the line I was thinking of. Actually I think I've probably just misheard the words .... but judging by some of the lyrics on the web I don't think I was the only one!! Don't know if it was an actual Simpsons episode or not - my nephew was playing one of their albums non-stop a few weeks back which was why I remembered it.

Hi Cass! Thanks for the info. I didn’t think I had ever heard it used by any Scot I have listened to on TV or the internet. I wasn’t sure though if that word is just a part of the huge influence Scotland has had on the south especially North Carolina, the state I am from. I just read on the internet today that North Carolina has more citizens of Scottish ancestry than any other state or nation on Earth including Scotland. Incredible if true. The way Simone comes across in interviews reminds me of plenty of North Carolinians I know. Nice and down to earth but strong and feisty. Are these common characteristics of Scottish people? Maybe that is where we got it! :D

What is the possibility the band will go other places in the US besides LA?

At the moment this is all the information we've got. We'll hopefully announce more in the next few days as contracts are signed and information finalized.

Mama Mayhem set to perform in New York for Fox 5's, Fearless Music TV Show.....
Fearless Music TV show is now available in 27 million households on US and Brazilian TV and their website gets more than a million hits a day. Fearless Music features established, as well as up-and-coming bands, performing live in their recording studio. Their format is very similar to the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test show from the 1970’s except without a studio audience.

Helen and I (no not Helen Stewart) have realized our schedule will allow us to go out to LA in November (when we originally didn't think we would be able to swing it).
Did anyone purchase Mama Mayhem tickets that now realize they can't go? Of course we would make it financially worth your time.
Please email me owh@wi.rr.com or private message
Thanks.
Update - My mistake, apparently there are still tickets available.

Did anyone else catch this blog on AfterEllen.com?
http://www.afterellen.com/blog/ace/what-simone-lahbib-wantsLooks like Simone's not going to be in L.A. after all.
I love MJNet - November 2, 2007 09:21 AM (GMT)
We can confirm she won't be there - we were asked by AfterEllen to merely edit out that information but not actually put out that Simone wasn't going to be there until they posted the rest of the news on their site - so apologies because I hadn't realized they had done so. As some of you might be aware, MJN has been quite ill over the last month, so we've not been around online as much anyway so I missed seeing it.
Cassandra - November 2, 2007 12:56 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the update, ILMJN. Hope MJN is feeling a lot better now.

I'd like to add a suggestion to the blog piece on SL's comments re her brother's band in the U.S. which I also posted on After Ellen. I've gone to the official major american talk show sites who have new bands on almost nightly (Craig Ferguson, Leno--whose mother was from Scotland, Letterman, Conan, and there are many others including Ellen, of course, who had the scottish band Travis on recently) and sent emails as a Music Guest Request (some of the websites have an actual email form to fill out specifically for that purpose.) Just an idea for something anyone seeing this suggestion might like to pursue in deference to the title of that blog piece listed on page one of this thread ("What Simone Lahbib Wants.") <G> ;)

A couple of photos from our time in Los Angeles, CA with Mama Mayhem and 1 degree of seperation from Simone!!!
It was a great show and Stephen Lahbib could not have been nicer, he came over to our table twice, once before the show and once after. I think Helen had an easier time deciphering his accent than I.
Stephen thanked Helen on stage for coming from Australia to see his show and when he sat down and talked with Helen he asked her what her sir name was and when she said "Brown" he said his sisters sir name was "Brown" (wrong sister, but would have been a perfect segway to ask about Simone, but before she had a chance he was up and gone)
Stephen and I....

Stephen and Helen...

Stephen and I!!!

I'd date Stephen if it got me to Simone, (sorry my Helen). All kidding aside, he was super nice and yes he is very cute.
