Wow! It's hard to pick just 10 reasons!

Yet another great article from AfterEllen. Also great to see this board and the Annex getting the attention they deserve. :)

That makes two of us LahbibLover. And add scribegrrl to that list.

I have been reading afterellen on and off for awhile now, even before I found Bad Girls, and it just keeps getting better. Cheers for all of the great BG articles and interviews. If the "10 reasons" article doesn't help draw more readers of AE to view BG's, I don't know what will.

It's wonderful of them to include my favorite SA outakes. I haven't watched it in awhile. Thanks AE for reminding me how much I appreciate these two actresses.

Well just for fun, I did....that is for Season 3 only at this point since tonight it begins again on LOGO (hence the AfterEllen, LOGO, Viacom tie in...but what do I care, huh?)

In order of occurance:
1) Nikki screaming , "I want my life back!!!" (S3e1) And can we blame her?

2) Nikki crying, "You see you're making me remember and I just want to forget." (S3e2) And can we blame her?

3)Teasy bossy Helen with a "Iin your cell. Now!" (S3e5) Can you blame me, for a keen eye can catch her tongue sticking out from her teeth as she sprints by the camera.

4) Helen's two-stage smile when she gives Nikki a second copy -I-know-it's-not-the-same- of Sophie's World inscribed, "See you on the outside. H" (S3e5) Oh yeah.

5) Nikki in her prison issue gardner's cap. "You don't write, you don't phone" (S3e7)

6) Nikki cornerning Fenner in the office and telling him exactly what she thinks of him. (S3e7) Ouch.

7) At the end of the "just a little bit jealous" scene, Helen calls out her name as Nikki goes to leave...She has so much more to say but doesn't...(S3e12)

8) The look on Nikki's face when she turns to look at Helen...for a moment there is hope that all is well and forgiven...but then, "Well?" (S3e12)

9)Helen has just said what she thought was their goodbye after she has made her deal with Fenner. She tells Dr. YesYes she has quit, but will not explain why, just that "I have done the right thing." (S3e16)

very nice list especially number 3 for obvious reasons and number 9 because she gave up her career to save Nikki's appeal.

It never ceases to amaze me how good M & S are with those facial expressions. They almost didn't need a script.

Helen standing all alone hugging herself is one of my favorite moments of the whole series.

Just thought I'd point that out. But other than that, fantastic list!!

LeighAnne Kriegh does a masterly job in her generalised introduction to Bad Girls in general and to Series 3 and I like her nicely acerbic humour in detailing how Series 3 could have been which highlights just what an achievement Bad Girls was. I am totally over the moon that she has picked out a link to this very board and to the very fine Bad Girl Annex site Oxford Prison tour which will assuredly steer more American fans to this site.

I like her introduction to the differences between American English and Brit English though the classic work of reference is found on the 'dumb americans' thread and the Bad Girls Annex 'Glossary.' Those two rich sources of information have got me reflecting and puzzling over various expressions which have gone to show how quirky Brit English is.

She has shown real understanding of the effect of the two colossal cliffhangers left by Series 2 when originally transmitted and time gap. She has a marvellous capacity for understanding which makes her so wonderfully suited to cover all matters BG. We certainly owe her a debt of gratitude.

I must congratulate solitasolano's choice of top 10 moments and I still feel that totally chilling moment of Mandana's unbeatable rendition of 'I want my life back'

1) "One look from you." Heartbreaking to hear everytime, don't you think? s3ep2

2) Yvon wants to shag, but doesn't think Nikki has 'the tackle'. And Nikki's classic responce "Wanna bet!" s3ep3

3) Barbara is down because her stepkids are giving her a hard time and Yvon offers to have their teeth pulled out. I love Nikki's responce in the background. s3ep4

4) Nikki surprizing the Jullies when Tinkerbell has kittens. The Julies really are nutters! s3ep6

5) Helen confesing to Nikki that she did stick her neck out when it came to Pam Jollie. s3ep6

6) Helen and Jim confrontation. "Because everytime i walk through those gates i have to face the evil cow who came that far away from killing me " "Well, let's hope that next time she's that much luckier" Ouch! s3ep7

7) Nikki telling Caroline: "I'm spoken for." How right she is. s3ep12

8) The scene where Nikki finds out that Caroline is a nonce and that Helen was just trying to protect her. s3ep12

9) Nikki watches Helen leave the prison for the last time. And Helen turns around because she knows Nikki will be at the window. How can two people be apart when they have so many feelings for each others? s3ep16

10) Trisha telling Nikki to go after Helen. And what a right decision it was! s3ep16

Loved your list as well Jules2 but then when I think about it there was so little not to like about Bad Girls that I'm going to like everybody's list. What a rare treat indeed, init? :wub:

That was my favorite part. And it IS a classic love story. And those actresses are mighty engaging. And the chemistry is, as the writer ponders, a very rare thing indeed. Let others eschew it because they look down on the title or subject matter or fear a real love story, we know the truth.
