Title: Authority Crushes

Lesli - September 7, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
So recently I've started college, and was delighted to find out that one of my English Literature teachers is the very same teacher I took a liking to in High school. We got on really well, and I kind of developed a little crush on her [most likely because she reminds me of Simone, without the accent!].

So, was sat talking in my class today before she walked in and suddenly realised.. Yeah, my crush is probably going to develop a hell of a lot more through college! My reason behind this? I realised she smelt nice today  Oh dear...

Anyway, I wondered if anyone else has had crushes on an authority figure? Whether it be a teacher, boss, group leader...

Feel free to share!

I had a massive crush on my maths teacher when i was in senior school.

We went to an all girls school and because he looked like eminem obv he got a lot of attention from the students.

I actually hated him at first...then after my best friend died..he was so supportive i started really crushing on him.

I found my self going out of my way to lessons just to see him....aka walikng all the way around the school just to catch a glimpse.

I even took afterschool maths classes even though i hated maths with a passion just because he was teaching and it meant an extra hour with him. Anyway after 2 years...on our last day i asked him for a kiss and he agreed!!!! i was walking on air!!!!!

6 years later i still think about him and wonder what hes doing now.

Bless!

I'm hoping I can handle this one better than my last...

One of my old teachers, back when I started High School [Another English teacher!], was the first woman I started to fancy. Oh, her and Keira Knightley  She was really supportive through my first year, we learnt we had a lot in common. We were almost inseperable on a trip to France that year. She was quite young too. Anyway, I fell hard for her. I even cried to myself when I heard she was leaving like two years later.

However... Just before she left she gave me her contact details and we're still in touch. It feels a bit weird, but hey. We're friends, and I'd rather that than nothing at all!

destiny_marie - September 7, 2007 03:23 PM (GMT)
aww bless Lesli

Anyway as for her smelling nice......i had the same thing lol. My maths teacher used to wear lynx africa all the time and its so a simple smell but i used to love it so much...

He was my first crush...ive only had one more crush since but ill always remember him....and i wish i could have stayed in touch with him....i see him every now and again on nights out...even after 6 years i still get all giddy and embarrased when i see him lol

I havent seen my first crush in a while, but we still text and speak online. She has a boyfriend, but that doesnt stop me from still dreaming!

The first summer she came back we actually spent some time together, like getting a coffee and stuff. She actually came round and was in my room. I'm surprised I didnt die [quite happily] that day!

destiny_marie - September 7, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
AWWW bless

I know how you must be feeling.

I know how you must be feeling. I became romantically involved with one of my English professors when I first went to college. It was the most romantic, sensual, exciting time of my life. She was my first true love...everything I wanted in another person, everything I aspired to be, and a part of me will always love her. And, although the years have past, and we've gone our separate ways, we still keep in touch.

Splendor in the Grass (1961)

"Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower, we will grieve not; rather find strength in what remains behind..."

Well its good to know it can happen!

Well, she's married and has two little ones but uhm.. No. I'd like it to happen, obviously, but I'm not about to ruin the happy family she has. And that's not me saying I could if I wanted to, at all. I just.. Will have to keep check on my flirting!!

I'm curently experiencing an authority crush now. I'm 24 and my Biology professor is 38. I took my first class with her last year and we just hit it off right off the bat. So much so that when I did some work at the Chicago Pet Expo this year she came out to support me and then convinced me to take another one of her classes. Anyway I took her advice and am taking another class with her. So on the first day of classes she immediately seeks me out because we hadnt spoken all summer and starts talking to me about my summer and what not. Then in class on Wed she pulled me aside agian to tell me she took in a stray cat as we are both animal lovers and I am currently studying to be a Vet.

Anyway I really am crushing madly on her. She is totally hot in my book and it must be the fact that she is intelligent that attracts me so much to her because thats one of the big things for me is intelligence.

Anyway I just thought I would share. I was thinking of asking her out for coffee or something. What do you guys think.

I think as you two get along as friends right now then that's fine. It's different at an older level, I feel. More.. Socially acceptable. It shouldnt be that way, but I suppose certain rules are put into place for good reason.

bgfilly - September 7, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
I mean I would love to have a friendship with her. She really is a wonderful person. If something more developes then so be it but I doubt it will as I met her boyfriend recently. :(

Lesli - September 7, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
That sucks. However, surely a friendship is good enough? And if it develops then it develops. Just take things at a friend's pace and see how things go. You never know, she may never have thought about women like that until you ;)

However, I can also say, don't get your hope up.. Yeah, I've learnt from my own mistakes!

bgfilly - September 7, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
Well she flirts an aweful lot with me but I think she may just flirt back cause I flirt with her alot. I dont really expect anything to happen. I mean it would be awesome if it did but as far as I know shes straight. I would like to be friends with thats definately enough for me. She studied veterinary medicine in college so she can understand the hardships that I am going through so it will be nice to have someone that understands that.

Lesli - September 7, 2007 04:08 PM (GMT)
Its good that you're thinking like that. To have someone who sounds so great in your life is nice to hear! :)

bgfilly - September 7, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Yea, I mean the veterinary field is a very tough field. So with the help of my professor and of course my dogs vet its nice to have someone that can relate to me. The biology class I am taking now is filled with people studying pharmacy and studyign to beocme a doctor. Im the only veterinary student in the class. So its harder to relate.

Lesli - September 7, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
Its always nice to have someone to relate too.

Intelligence seems to be the most attractive thing to me. That and a sense of humour!

bgfilly - September 7, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
Those are the two qualities that attract me most to a woman. I love to be able to sit there and have an intelligent conversation with someone but at the same time I also want that person to be able to make me laugh.

Lesli - September 7, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
And those are two things that both teachers I like have!

Damn them, damn them all!

bgfilly - September 7, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
Yep thats how I feel about my professor. That and the fact that I like older women. It's a hopless cause if you ask me LOL. She had me from hello! LOL no really all kididng aside. I just think its more of a crush than something more. Who knows tho?

Lesli - September 7, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
*Sings* Whatever will be, will be...!

bgfilly - September 7, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
I think im gonna ask her for coffee after class on Monday.

Route66 - September 7, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
It took a long time, and a lot of soul searching before we could find a place to be friends again, but thankfully today we are.

Lesli - September 7, 2007 05:10 PM (GMT)
Its really good to hear you're still friends.

I don't judge you for what happened. You can't help who you fall for, that's always something I've believed in. I also think you should be very proud for walking away, considering your feelings for her. You're obviously a very strong person inside, whether you believe that or not!

O_ M_ G I asked my French teacher to marry me...in 9th grade. I ran into her a couple of years ago in a parking lot, and I was STILL tongue-tied

hypothesizer - September 7, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
I had a huge crush on my health teacher in highschool. I went out of my way to talk to her everyday and even joined the softball team at her urging. I'm sure she knew that i liked her back then and still kinda do. lol

I had what probably should have manifested as a crush on a teacher, if it were not for the fact that I have the emotional intelligence of a football.

I remember her as one of my favourite teachers, despite the fact that I was introduced to her in an English class, one of my least favourite subjects. She was one of the few relatively young women who taught at my high school, which is to say that she was a little more innovative with her teaching methods, she showed a greater interest in the lives of individual students, she was quite outspoken, and most importantly she was not one to tolerate ignorance. It was not unusual to hear through the grapevine that she had torn a strip out of some student or faculty member who had made a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, or other derogatory remark.

I vividly remember one incident when she had taken a group of us students on field trip to see a staging of Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. During one scene Cleopatra kissed one of her serving maids, which provoked one of the students in attendance to quite audibly exclaim “Ewwwwww.” When we all piled onto the bus after the show, my teacher wasted no time in taking the student to task over how disrespectful she had been, not only, to the performers and other audience members, but also to her fellow classmates. What I always found remarkable was that any time she set off to rebuke a student she did so with a wit and intelligence that left the person on the receiving end feeling sufficiently sheepish, but experiencing no lasting ill will.

She made an effort to create a very tolerant and accepting atmosphere in her classroom, and I always found it to be a very safe space. Unfortunately, she was not a permanent staff member and her time at my school was far too brief, but if I were to meet her on the street some day, I would feel compelled to thank her.

I don't think I ever went that far!

On the trip away I did end up sitting next to her out of choice to get away from other students singing  We chatted and read together, sat watching Pearl Harbour and then.. She fell asleep next to me. I nearly freaked out at just how cute she looked!!

Holy Tuna Casserole! Talk about coincidence. I just saw the teacher, who I was so fond of in high school, on the television. The CBC is broadcasting a “Test the Nation” quiz show and this particular installment is on language; and wouldn’t you know it, my former teacher is sitting front and center in the “English teacher” section of the studio. They even shoved the microphone in her face for a moment! Now here is a question: What is the appropriate emotional response to this scenario?

a) Extreme joy, the likes of which might prompt me to frolic gaily.
b) An exaggerated swoon that may cause me to tumble out of my seat.
c) Mild amusement over being the victim of an acute attack of probability theory.
d) An undeniable craving for a peanut butter sandwich.

song_stress - September 10, 2007 09:24 AM (GMT)
Loon , stop dancing around. You may fall and hurt yourself. LOON! I said "Sit in that chair!"
Rut ro ...you ok? **getting out smelling salts**
I just knew that was gonna happen. *heavy sigh*

Just DON"T make any PB sandwiches!! In the state (substitute "province" ;) ) you are in, I am having a deja vu of something like bologna being accidentally added. :eek

badgirlnuts - September 10, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
So Loon, how did you fare?
Was it the blonde?
I missed the the 1st half of the quiz but I learnt the plural of moose is moose :D
The appropriate response, eh......should it be C ? :lol1
