Title: Hi from Germany
Description: Intro

Hi,

I am from Germany and have discovered Bad Girls only at the beginning of this year. Managed to watch seasons 1 - 3 in one long rainy weekend.

I was fascinated by the many aspects of this love story and the struggles both had to face. As abrupt as the ending of the love story was, it seemed to be a good ending. However, I am still somewhat miffed that it said "To be continued". Of course I thought that they meant the love story from which they were fading out at that scene. Was I wrong.

Anyway, I found BG much more interesting (also the later seasons, I admit) than the German series "Hinter Gitter" which started two years before. BG has never been shown in Germany and it is very unlikely that it will ever be. But, how would anybody be able to translate Helenīs accent and the many British expressions adequately into German (everything is dubbed for us, mostly without a second audio channel for the original language version).

Anyway, I still donīt have enough of BG and H&N, thatīs why Iīm here. I guess it will take a lot of time to go through all these interesting topics and discussions. But I will take it one bit at a time.

Cheers.

Hi Happy2BBad,

Welcome to the board. You are in the right place if you still don't have enough of BG and H&N! :)

I think they DID mean the love story, just not in the obvious sense. I take it to mean that for N&H the story was continuing but on first viewing I thought it meant that N&H were going to come back in S4. Was a bit mis-leading though and I did wonder if it was partly deliberate to make sure people watched S4!

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Cassandra: subconsciously, I kinda knew that this was their intention, but after watching it for the 17th time (what, I know of people who have watched "Titanic" 35 times ...) I guess I hoped that they would make a spin-off special episode or a feature film "Life after Larkhall" or something.

Wishing everyone a great week.

Hi! I think there is at least one other German-speaker on this board, who might be able to help with some of the translations. We do have a thread to help translate various accent/slang stuff into American English, if that helps at all. You can find it here:

17 times viewing that final scene? Please, this is NOT the place to be embarassed about that. I think most of us have watched it at least that many times!

Hi Happy:

Welcome to the board. Your English is excellent by the way. So, how are you seeing Bad Girls. Do you have the DVDs?

Happy2BBad - November 20, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
Hi, thanks for the welcome and the compliment. Yes, I do have the DVDs (all sets).

(Can I mention here that I made a two-hours-long "Best moments of H&N-clip" that I watch from time to time to spare myself from having to watch the rest *whistles innocently*?)

Hi Happy2BBad,

welcome to this board. I'm the other German on the board, I' m a fan of H&N since 2000 when I discovered the series Bad Girls. Never liked Hinter Gittern by the way, and only watched a few episodes of it.

Happy2BBad - November 20, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
Hi, Lady McB.,

nice to meet you.

Wow, 2000? And still liking it? Yes, that is one very fascinating aspect of the H&N-story and the entire show: in a way, itīs a classic (besides being a cult), right? And even to me as a "new viewer" it seems pretty fresh. I donīt think that I could stand watching an old episode of "Hitter Gittern" today. I never watched much of it as those were the busiest years of my working life and I had plenty of other things to do. And there are so many other aspects yet to discover. At least for me. And I will get right to it.

See you all later. Have a good week.

Hi Happy2BBad, and a belated welcome.

I also speak some German, not as fluent as I used to be. It took us yanks long enough but we finally got Bad Girls over here. The only thing that sucks is that all the four-letter words get silenced out on the channel where it's shown.

Trying to be good until Series two and three become available on DVD over here but I may just break down, get a region-free player and buy all first three seasons from the UK...even with the dollar being weak.

Enjoy posting. I know I've becomed obssessed since I discovered this board....along with the show.
