Title: 'Monica Lindsay' in Holby City

Apologies to the non Brit members of this board but I thought I'd feature a well written Brit hospital drama in which 'Monica Lindsay' appeared as a rather timid Human Resources type person. This series has featured a number of Bad Girls Actors including Mandana herself, Alicia Eyo and a frightening Jack Ellis wielding a scalpel and wearing a mask and surgical gown.

The series features one very fine actress called Amanda Mealing who is someone to watch. She plays the part of a highly professional surgeon called Connie Beauchamp who is intolerant of anyone acting less than professionally but who had feelings under a hard exterior. This episode was memorable for her sending 'Monica Lindsay' out of the room with the words 'Out, penpusher' and she later recalled the ways she had been described as 'Connie the Barbatrian' (a playoff of a film title 'Conan the Barbarian' and 'Killer Queen' (I imagine a nick off the Queen song of the same title). This snippet shows the writing is above average and reminds me that hospital dramas actually predated the 'soaps' we are lumbered these days (which I suppose are one notch up from 'reality TV' shows as at least they employ actors)

I've seen her in a few other brit shows as well the past few yrs. It's amusing that she's in the same ep of "John Deed" as Simone. And on "Spooks," aka "MI-5" in america, she plays the mum of Olga Sosnovska, best known for being one/half of the first lesbian kiss in daytime tv on "All My Children" (and, completing the degrees of separation, Olga also appeared in an ep of "Monarch of the Glen.")
