Title: original Muppet Wing thread '05
Description: just first few pages!

ekny - February 27, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
I found the first 3 pages of the saved MW thread buried deep in my computer. This appeared on the previous incarnation of the board in 2005... I only saved these pages though, sorry.

I didn't kill myself reformatting it.... Just thought people might like to see how the Muppets developed, it's a kind of cool (and very quick) progression from: I'm hopeless, am I all alone? to Hi! Hopeless, We're Hopeless Too! Welcome to the Wing! kinda-thing. I always found it very cute, anyway. :)

The Muppet Wing!

I have been sitting in my chair at this computer reading, looking at clips, reading some of the fanfic and I am having to MAKE myself get of my chair and get some work done.

I am just so TOTALLY obssessed that I can only stay gone for a minute. And since I have only seen fully Series 1, with 2 and 3 in route, I must know does it ever end? Can you ever go back to normal after being bitten by the Helen/Nikki bug?

Will I have to hire in a maid?

This is the first time a television show has affected me SO greatly. It is such an inspiring love story, full of such vulnerabilites and truths and pain and everything else that I am just drawn in completely.

I just had to get that out. Phew!!

Now to try and get some work done. ::Sigh::

Join the club

Join the club......... Its one of those stories that somehow just gets under your skin!

I know I am not the only person who writes who would never have considered fan fiction until Helen and Nikki (I would write privately but that was all).

It does ease, but so far after 5 years, I can't say it has ever gone away completely, just lessened!

Which in itself is a huge testiment to the way the story was portrayed and even now we can watch it and be drawn right in. Okay, we don't watch the DVD's to the same extent these days but they are still periodically essential viewing - and that usually means an extended sit down and just watch episode after episode.

HelenAddict Posted: Thu Aug 18, 2005 5:06 pm
I think I'm in for a while

MJ Net,

I think that I am in for a while as I just came upon the series in the last few weeks. I have not even gotten the 2nd and 3rd series. LOL

So for now I think that I am doomed!!!

I did leave for a bit but I am right back here. I truly must chastise myself and get off of here but I am drawn like a magnet here having found a home for my addiction!!!

mjnet Posted: Thu Aug 18, 2005 10:40 pm

Just enjoy it while it lasts! As Helen Stewart once said!

I remember first getting the dvds and watching them in one long session over a weekend, i was totally obsessed. (i still am but i now realise i have a life too)

HelenAddict Posted: Thu Aug 18, 2005 10:44 pm
LOL

I am ashamed to admit it but I was watching the Series 1 DVD again when I came to the computer and saw your message. LOL
Boy I have got to get a life myself!!

But since I just started, maybe I will cut myself some slack and just take your advice and enjoy it while it lasts!!!

Boy, Series 2 and 3 better hurry up.

4us Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 1:24 am

I certainly wouldn't be embarressed admitting to watching the series over and over......gosh I would hate to think of the hours I have spent doing nothing but......then again for me it had added advantages because it gave me a completetly new life..so H/A you go girl and keep watching and loving it for it only gets better the more it sinks in. I still love it even after all this time........welcome btw.

HelenAddict Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 1:27 am
Thank You

Thank you so much for the welcome and the support.
And you are right. Enough of the guilt and back to the experience.
I must admit, it does have some liberating qualities about it!!!!

mandanas lover Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 2:11 am

HA I chorus everyone else, the H and N bug cannot seem to be cured, so enjoy........

Certainly don't be ashamed, we are all guilty of it........ :D

Welcome to the board the more the merrier........

HelenAddict Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 2:13 am
Thanx

Thank you for the welcome. And I am watching as I write!!!

You sound like me....I even extracted the audio from all of series one into MP3 format and listen to it in the car...How sad is that?

HelenAddict Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 10:13 am
We are hooked

OMG I think that we have it bad. I can recite almost every line, mannerism, facial expression and with perfect timing and precision. LOL And I am noticing that with every viewing, I am picking up something that I did not notice before. If I am this bad with series one, heaven help me when I get started on the others!

muffbian Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 2:44 pm

*Stands up* My names Jo and i have been an, H & N Addict for 4 years now.

I have refused any sort of help to combat it, i enjoy my fixes.

And when real life gets a little tough in places and cynicalism starts to settle in, i read fanific or watch dvd's of this lovely love story and all is well again

And when all is well anyway, i still need a fix of bg's/helen nikki

Obsessed with Helen Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 4:13 pm

Hey Helen Addict, I replied to your private message but it's still sitting in my out box. Did you get it?

I love MJNet Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 6:37 pm
OWH

Hi,

Just so people dont' get confused too much - with the set up on these boards, the PM system means a message once sent will sit in the outbox of the person who sent it until read - its just a way of knowing it has been seen by whoever you are trying to contact but a little confusing to begin with.

Hope this helps. :)

Obsessed with Helen Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 6:38 pm

Thanks I'm still new to all of this, been here a little while, but first message board, etc.
Where do I go to ask for help in getting a banner or picture on my messages? Probably in the admin section?

OWH,
I don't if you received my reply privately, but I did respond to it.

Obsessed with Helen Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 8:06 pm

No worries mate, got it.

Hope you get series 2 and 3 soon.

HelenAddict Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 8:07 pm
In response

Muffbian,
I do understand the need for the H/N fix. Glad to see that the club is here and growing. I do think that I will burn my DVD player out soon. LOL
I have gotten to the last episode on Disc 3 for perhaps the 4th or 5th time but who's counting and who cares?

Oh yea, I know exactly what you mean <bg> I am a newbie to H/N too, but after so many viewings I too can anticipate every line along with each physical and facial nuance of the characters. I also pick up something new with each viewing. They give such textured performances. BTW what is it that Helen does with her tongue? My god, even in real life I have never before been so aware of someone's tongue when they are talking. That tongue and my multiple viewings will be the death of me. But at least I will go with a big ol grin on my face.

HelenAddict Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 11:43 pm
To Janet

OMG!!!!
You are SOOOOOOOOO right about Helen and the tongue. That coupled with the accent and the way she seems to need to be held are what make the character as well as the actress so fetching.

I'm am on my 6th viewing now If I am not mistaking and it always seems like the first time. Although, I spend as much time as possible fast forwarding to anything with Helen and Nikki, especially Helen.

Janet Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 11:54 pm
To: HelenAddict

Ah yes...let us not forget about the gorgeous accent. The way she holds herself in that rigid way... you are right, she does seem like she needs to be held. May I be the first in line to volunteer :D

HelenAddict Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 11:57 pm
LOL

Get behind the rest of us droolers!!!

silverballnz Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 6:30 am
I Need Help or Some sort of Intervention

Hey all,
I agree about Helens tounge, she kind of clicks it and runs it over her lips
Very sexy so ill get in the queue,
Hope ive done this right new to here,
Cheers to all from New Zealand.

mjnet Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 9:06 am

silverballnz Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:24 pm
Nikkis Eyes

Oh wow me also its all in the eyes for me oh those wonderful eyes.
Cheers all.

NZ Bad Girl Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:30 pm

Hey, it's 12.30. What are you doing up? I can't be bothered going to bed because I would have to take my kilt off and hang it up.

Janet Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:33 pm

Ok, while my feet are firmly planted on the Helen line, despite the fact that it's a little slippery with the drool and all, I must agree that Nikki has beautifully expressive eyes.

Here in New York, its 8:30 in the morning. A fine time to be waxing poetic about the many lovely attributes regarding Nikki and Helen. That's why we are addicts after all. :)

silverballnz Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:35 pm
same as you

Hey there NZ bad Girl im doing the same as you sitting reading the board cant sleep so what is there thats better to do? BTW where in NZ are you?
Wellington here.
Cheers to you.

NZ Bad Girl Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:36 pm

Helen, tongue. She did the tongue/teeth thing on Monarch last night. *hides head* I just love it so much! It was the episode where they saved her German godfather.

NZ Bad Girl Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:43 pm

Yay for Wellinton! I PM'd you.

HelenAddict Posted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 1:14 pm
More Simone is still not enough

First let me say, that yes Nikki has the most expressive brown eyes that I have ever seen.

Now back to Helen. I guess that now I will have to also start ordering Monarch of the Glen. I don't know if the episodes that Simone are in are on DVD yet or not, but when they do become available I will be sending for them. I did also order her movie: "Heartless" but alas it will be weeks before I get that too.
Morning to all!!

HelenAddict Posted: Wed Aug 31, 2005 2:00 pm
The Obsession Continues

Ahh as i patiently wait for my series 2 and 3 to arrive, I did at least get the movie "Heartless". I thought it was quite sweet and didn't have enough Simone for me, but alas that little bit will have to do. ::sigh:
Back to series 1 in the meantime. Don't know why but I just had to say that out loud.

Janet Posted: Wed Aug 31, 2005 9:12 pm

I'm kind of envious of you. I wish I had series 2 and 3 to look forward to again and to be able to see them with first time eyes. Although I remember when I waited for them and I could barely stand it.

HelenAddict Posted: Wed Aug 31, 2005 9:43 pm

LOL Janet.
Barely being able to stand it is an understatement. I am at meltdown levels. I can't believe how hooked I am and will probably need a defribrillator handy once the DVD's do come in. Were it not for the clips that I have seen online I think I would be laced in a jacket somewhere and on tranquilizers.

Janet Posted: Wed Aug 31, 2005 10:00 pm

Ya know I just had a mental image of you being led out in a straight jacket yelling at the top of your lungs in a scottish accent...'but I want a woman"

HelenAddict Posted: Wed Aug 31, 2005 10:15 pm

ROFL!!!!!!!
I think it might just come to that. As it is, I am questioning my sanity inasmuch as "Bad Girls" goes. Most "sane" people would be concerned about rising gas prices and the shortages showing up in some states. My first thought was: " How is this going to affect delivery of my Series 2 and 3?" So, can therapy be far behind?

mandanas lover Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 2:21 am

lmoa.......oh so true.........

HelenAddict Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 3:04 am

How wonderful to have a place to come where others understand! :D

red318 Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 5:33 am

This is beginning to sound like an AA meeting...maybe we should rename this thread, or even the board "Nikki Helen Addicts Anonymous" or NHAA for short :)

NZ Bad Girl Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 5:40 am

My name is Eileen and I haven't watched any Bad Girls or Nikki/Helen music video or read a fan fic for over 7 hours...

*pause for supportive applause*

... but that was because I was at school and I have been banned from the computers. They changed my password and all my friends are out of money on their accounts. Anyway, I don't want to give it up.I'm going to go read some fan fic now, it looks like a couple of stories have been updated.

mjnet Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 10:20 am

Maybe I should start an agony aunt column on the website?

HelenAddict Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 11:13 am

To Red318, LOL about NHAA. To NZ Bad Girl, Hugs and massive kudos to you for being able to go at least 7 hours. I envy you. :D And MJN do whatever it is that you can to help we lot of incurables.

I have restrained myself from a fix so far, but my hands are twitching. A good day to all!

Janet Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 12:20 pm

Be brave. There are probably more out there than we even know. :)
Actually I wanted to share a moment I had this morning before I go off to work. There I was getting ready, brushing my teeth when I started humming four notes repeatedly. Suddenly I stopped and had to laugh at the recognition...it was from Bad Girls...the notes that play when Nikki is telling Helen how she got by week to week from a look from Helen. Its not even a friggin song and it was stuck in my head. The program has invaded my subconscious!
I am glad I got that off my chest. Sometimes it just helps to share.

HelenAddict Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 12:26 pm

Share Janet Share!! It is cleansing. LOL
:D
