Title: Bad Girls on Drama Trails
Description: On ITV3

Just Another Mad Bad Fan - July 21, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
Bad Girls is apparently to feature in this Wednesday's (23.07.08) episode of Drama Trails on ITV3 from 9pm - 10pm. I haven't watched any previous eps but it would appear that the intention of the programme is to link various well-loved TV dramas via the stars, cast & crew who worked on them.

Radio Times has this of Wednesday's ep:

"Drama Trails: Bad Girls to Cold Blood
Saturday 26 July
9:00pm - 10:00pm
ITV3
Episode 4

James Nesbitt narrates a series that tells the stories behind TV's greatest dramas and what connects them, featuring contributions from the stars, cast and crew who worked on them. In this edition, Debra Stephenson recalls working with the Bad Girls in an Oxford prison, and Matthew Kelly reminisces about playing a very convincing serial killer in Cold Blood. Interviews with Clare King, Pam Ferris, Andrew Davies, Sue Birtwistle, Wendy Craig and Michelle Hardwicke."

Unfortunately that doesn't sound like there will be any input from SL or MJ, but it might be worth watching nevertheless.

Not much about Bad Girls on the programme I'm afraid - only about the first 10 minutes or so. The only cast member to feature in the Bad Girls part of it was Debra Stephenson returning to the "set" as it were - the Malmaison Oxford (the former HMP Oxford) to reminisce and compare then & now, and speak about the character of Shell Dockley. Maureen Chadwick & Ann McManus also put in an appearance talking about the show. The next programme to be featured was Emmerdale with Claire King providing the link between it and Bad Girls. Sadly no mention of our favourite girls though. :(

The show is not all that interesting ... not much about Bad Girls - but for those who are interested ... go here:

Drama Trails

Or if you have issues with the direct link ... go here:

Find the folder labeled PiSexy and the file is in that folder.

Enjoy!

I agree with both posts having seen the programme. The visuals in the programme focused on how the interior of Oxford Prison had been transformed into this surreal looking hotel with one cell kept the way it had been and looking more familiar. It focussed on Shell Dockley as archetypal prisoner with all her various hangups and her relationship with Jim Fenner. Shed did their best to try and keep the programme anchored on the perspective of how anyone might relate to being in this situation at which point there ought to have been, cue Nikki Wade who was that person. It got 10 minutes while the 'voice over' for Claire King referred to Bad Girls and hurried it away to introduce Emmerdale (for non Brit readers, a soap set in the northern countryside which I've never watched).

I forgot to say that they mentioned that Bad Girls had "even" been turned into a musical. And most inexplicably, considering that it was supposed to be a programme linking television shows, the picture and Bad Girls logo which they used to represent BG on the map of England showing Oxford, were ones from Bad Girls The Musical - the pic in question being a small one of the actresses who played Helen & Nikki, kissing! Quite what their connection was to Oxford I'm not quite sure!

If they were smart, they could have done a profile on how so many Actors/Actresses from Emmerdale/Coronation St./Eastenders had their own ties to Bad Girls.

Kika Myrilees, Helen Fraser, James Gaddas, Andrew Scarborough and the actress who played Joy Masterton were all on Corrie before Bad Girls. Debra Stephenson & Jack Ellis were or are on Corrie now.

Charlotte Lucas played a Barmaid on Corrie as did Linda Henry Pre & Post BG, as well as the actor who played Ricky as well as the actress who played Janine Nebeski.

As for Emmerdale, the most famous character of course was Claire King who played Kim Tate before she played Karen Betts.

However, that is the one thing that BG and the British Soaps have in common with their American Counterparts, that so many of them started on Soaps before they did what is known in North America as Prime Time Shows.

Cast members from CSI, Desperate Housewives, Las Vegas, ER, have gotten their start on Soaps while some Prime Time Actors go to do what the US describes as Daytime Soaps.

For example, Betty White who is best known for playing Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls played Stephanie Forrester's mother on The Bold & The Beautiful.

Patrick Duffy who played Bobby Ewing on Dallas recently played Stephen Logan on The Bold & The Beautiful.

Bryton McClure who got his start as Ritchie on Family Matters now plays Devon Hamilton on The Young & The Restless and sadly enough, his former TV Cousin Jaimee Foxworth was recently seen on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

Also, please forgive me if I don't get all of the facts straight. I only go by what I see on Websites, & YOUTUBE and where I am, I can only get Coronation St., on TV.
