The Wedding Planner
“I want a divorce!”
“Nikki were not even married!”
Nikki Wade stood at arms length from her girlfriend of nine years with nothing but contempt. Her back had turned in seconds at the words… “Were not even married” and now she was facing the window of their fourth floor apartment overlooking the city.
“Nikki…” The words were spoken much softer now and the pained expression on the blonde woman’s face gave away her deep regrets… “Please, we need to talk about this.” Her hand reached out to the tall dark haired woman’s shoulder.
Nikki shifted away but still did not turn around, she could not, and she did not want her lover to see the tears that were now freely flowing down her cheeks.
Instead, Nikki walked away from the blonde and stood by the window. Looking out, watching the world go by… she wished she were out there right now… doing anything but confronting her girlfriend about an affair, an affair Nikki had suspected had been going on for some time but had hoped to god that she was wrong. When Trisha confirmed Nikki’s suspicions were correct she could hardly believe it… and now the pain was almost too much to bear.
Trisha… desperately wanted to make Nikki see that the affair had been a huge mistake… “I’m sorry babe… I didn’t mean for it to happen… you know how these things are…”
Nikki was feeling physically sick; her hand wiped away the tears before she turned around angrily, “Oh well that’s alright then if you didn’t mean for it to happen, we’ll just carry on like nothing ever happened.”
“Nikki please…”
“Please what?” Nikki Wades angry brown eyes seemed to flare up… she stepped a little closer to the blonde who was now taken aback by the look in her lovers eyes, in all their time together she had never seen her so… angry…
“You were away a lot…” Trisha dared to try to make herself feel less guilty and move some of the blame Nikki’s way and immediately regretted it, it sounded so lame.
Nikki let out a small laugh, very much in sarcasm… “You had plenty of chances to travel with me… but as it happens it looks like you had a good reason to stay at home.”
“It wasn’t like that.” Trisha protested.
Nikki stepped up to her, “So tell me what was it like…” then her voice lowered as she lent closer, “Or more to the point, what was she like?”
Trisha’s heart was racing, she felt sick, and unsteady on her feet she was trembling outwardly and trying very hard to hide it… “Don’t be like this… its over now… I told her so.”
“She didn’t take to your kinky bedtime sex games then?” Nikki smirked.
“How dare you.” Trisha glared back at Nikki. Then Trisha’s hand came up and crashed against Nikki’s cheek… the slap made an impact and Nikki felt it but didn’t show it hurt… she couldn’t even let Trisha have that one.
Trisha just stood there and felt horrified that she had lashed out. Nikki was making her love affair sound so seedy and disgusting that it angered her that much.
Nikki just laughed and the creases on her brow showed her disgust, “You had sex with her in our bed! It will never be over!” Nikki’s eyes were cold as she added, “Are you leaving now? I have things to do.”
“I think I best…” Trisha replied in resignation, “Maybe we can talk when you’ve had time to think.” She added with a little bit of hope.
“You’ll be waiting until hell freezes over.” Nikki replied coolly.
“I’ll collect my things tomorrow then.” Trisha knew that by agreeing with Nikki now would go in her favour, play it her way and with any luck when she’s calmed down everything will be fine.
“If you like, it doesn’t matter to me, I wont be here.” Nikki walked over to the walk in wardrobe off their on-suite bedroom and disappeared into it.
Trisha shouted across the room, “Where are you going?”
“Out of town.” Nikki called back.
“For how long?” Trisha dared to ask.
Nikki put her head around the door, “Haven’t you gone yet?” she frowned.
Trisha went to speak but then decided against it, she turned around and left with so much pain in her heart it was killing her.
Nikki heard the door shut and let out a huge sigh of relief. Then she walked back through to the bedroom, dropped the crisp coffee coloured Armani suit onto the bed and sat beside it… she placed her head into her hands and let out the pain she was really feeling, anger turned to tears in seconds of Trisha’s departure.
The following day Nikki was on her way into the city of London and her first appointment of the afternoon once she arrived was with her new clients, or at least one of them. She did find it a little strange that he insisted on meeting in Regents Park however… and she was glad that she knew it quite well, because his directions were terrible. The taxicab took her to the park and from there she walked. Her brown suit and beige shirt nicely matched her tan and her short dark hair; she looked elegant, designer chic… in black boots and dark sunglasses. Under her arm, she held a black briefcase that held everything she needed for this one important meeting.
He was waiting when she got there… sitting on a bench reading the Guardian with his legs folded one over the other. His brown shoes did not match any of his clothes. He was dressed casually in blue jeans and a grey jumper. It was not until the newspaper was pulled down from in front of his face that Nikki was sure she had the right place… you could not mistake that face even though she had only see him in a photograph. He had the most drawn chin and goofy smile completed by a floppy blonde fringe, he stood to meet Nikki’s gaze and introduced himself…
“Nikki Wade?”
Nikki nodded and smiled politely, then held out her hand, “Sean Parr?”
He smiled and shook her hand, “Nice to meet you Nikki.”
“Likewise,” Nikki replied, her job depended on it… then she looked around them, “Mr Parr why did you insist on meeting me here?” she asked discreetly turning her gaze back to him.
He let out a small laugh and then with his hands stuck in his back pockets told her, “My parents haven’t a clue that I am getting married yet… it’s the only place I could think of that they wouldn’t be able to find me this afternoon.”
“Oh.” Nikki looked a little blank.
“Anyway,” he grinned, “How about a coffee?”
“Not for me thanks.” Nikki looked at the man as he fiddled about in his jean pockets for some change.
“I’ll be right back,” he said as he headed over to the stand selling the usual ice-lollies, drinks and snacks.
Nikki took a moment to take in the warm afternoon breeze… then she took a deep breath and sighed outwardly. She frowned and tried to get all the wicked thoughts out of her head… right now she hated the thought of having to plan a wedding for two people hopelessly in love with one another, right now the very thought of love made her sick!
Sean Parr made his way back over to Nikki with a plastic cup full of weak coffee in one hand, other hand placed in the pocket of his jeans, front pocket this time.
Nikki put on her best smile as he approached, “Okay are we ready to start discussing your wedding to Miss Stewart?”
He smiled and nodded, “Take a seat.”
Nikki looked at the wooden bench and joined him… it was time to put out of her mind the bitterness she was feeling for all the lovesick fools of this world and get on with her job, planning a wedding. Zen moment

Chapter 2
Sean arrived home to find his fiancé already back from her rather unexpected urgent meeting with solicitor and friend Claire Walker. He stepped into the hallway and hung up his casual black leather jacket on the wooden hook there in the hall just as Helen Stewart was descending the stairs.
“Oh hi…” he looked up at her.
Helen continued down the stairs and then once at the bottom met the tall mans gaze as best she could, it wasn’t easy, he was 6ft and Helen was a mere 5ft 4 inches… “Hiya babes,” she smiled up at him, he bent down to meet her cheek with his lips.
Helen was beautiful with full lips and green eyes. Her dark blonde hair rested above her shoulders and was tucked behind her ears. There was no make up present and no jewellery, well apart from her engagement ring. She wore a tight black top and tight leggings with trainers and socks, the beads of sweat trickled from her forehead to her neck, he had been exercising after a busy morning.
He stood up straight and frowned, “I thought you had a meeting?”
“I did.” She replied cheerily ignoring his obvious annoyance because, she had not joined him that morning to meet their wedding planner.
Sean watched her tail off into the kitchen and he made a small noise and shook his head before following her. He caught up with the petite Scot as she reached down into the open fridge for a carton of orange juice… “Helen you do want to marry me don’t you?”
Helen laughed as she placed the carton of juice onto the breakfast table, then she turned to the cupboard and took out a glass, as she turned around to fill it she half looked up at him without spilling a drop.
“It’s a serious question hels.” He added a little irritated.
Helen stood and sipped back some juice, she needed something cold after her strenuous workout… then she looked at him and noticed he wasn’t smiling anymore, “Of course I want to marry you, don’t be so silly.” She put down the glass and stepped over to him then placed her arms around his shoulders to show him how serious she was. He smiled as her lips grew closer to his own and his macho pride felt temporarily lifted… “So why didn’t you go with me to meet her?” he gently asked.
Helen sighed a little put all the time never once left his gaze, their eyes were locked, as they talked, “I don’t know why we have to have a wedding planner.”
Sean nuzzled his nose against Helen’s and smiled into her lips, “It’s the thing to do these days hels.”
She kissed him quickly and stepped out of the embrace, “Well maybe you could have asked me what I wanted first?”
Helen returned to her glass of juice and Sean looked puzzled, “I thought you would want some help… it’s easier this way, and I can afford it.”
“Yeah well… it would be nice to be asked.” She was frowning now.
Sean smiled and stepped up to her, “Hey, its done now, cant we just enjoy it…” he paused and then added as he wrapped his arms around his fiancés waist, “Besides I think you’ll like her, she’s nice.”
“I hope so.” Helen replied feeling the tension slowly lift. It was always like that around Sean these days, one minute they were getting on fine and she felt great, admittedly it was when they weren’t talking about weddings and maternal things… the next minute he had wound her up like a coiled spring!
“So what’s she like?” Helen decided it would be best to find out before meeting her what to expect…
Sean looked thoughtful as he held his fiancé in his arms, “Tall, good looking, very smart, and kinda cute…”
“I meant personality wise.” Helen smiled.
“Yeah she’s great, really knows her stuff… and some of her ideas on the wedding are very good but…”
“I knew there had to be a but…” she half smiled.
“Some are a little unconventional.” His eyebrows knotted as he spoke.
Helen’s ears pricked up in curiosity, “Oh aye, how so?”
“Well, she had a booklet with her full of places where you could get married… unusual places as well as the norm…” Sean paused and looked worried, “She even suggested getting married underwater!”
Helen laughed and stepped away, then walked over to the sink, “You mean scuba diving?”
“Yeah…” Sean looked even more worried that Helen knew what he was referring too.
Helen put on some coffee and then lent back against the worktop, “Don’t tell me… bungee wedding?”
“Yeah how did you know?” Sean continued to look amazed, he had not heard of such things.
“Honestly Sean your so out of date sometimes, you can virtually get married on the back of camel if you want these days… you name it you can do it.”
Sean frowned, “Yeah well I told her a straight forward church would do.”
“Just as well…” Helen said folding her arms, “I think my father would definitely abandon me if it’s wasn’t in a church at least.”
“I can’t believe this…” Sean suddenly smiled.
“What?” Helen looked puzzled.
“You’re actually talking to me about our wedding!”
Helen sighed, “I have been busy Sean I do have a job to go too.”
“And so do I” he protested.
“Yes but you work for yourself, your self employed, its not exactly the same when your doing nine to five or later in a women’s prison.” Helen replied. Sean never seemed to take what she did seriously or never understood it.
“Well…” Sean’s brain started to tick with a glorious plan for his future wife, “You won’t need to work once were married, you can give it up and be a housewife, raise the kids.”
Helen suddenly felt sick and absolutely horrified, “Kids?”
Sean looked at Helen with some sympathy, “Yeah of course. You’d make a great mother.”
“That maybe true but it’s a long way off in my plans.” Helen frowned and the nausea passed.
“You say that now, but just wait until that ring is on your finger, there will be no stopping you then….” He paused and looked at his watch, “Times getting on I better get ready.”
“For what?” Helen’s brow creased in utter frustration, the man was doing it to her again, winding her up.
“I’m off to buy a wedding suit… Nikki’s meeting me to advise.” He said walking through to the hall.
“Nikki?” Helen asked following him.
“Our wedding planner…” Sean replied grabbing his jacket, “If your coming you better hurry.”
Helen bit her lip nervously, “I cant, sorry… I have other arrangements.”
“What arrangements?” he did not let her reply, “What’s more important? Come on hels get your coat.”
“Sean I really can’t make it, cant you do this another time?” she had a pained look on her face as she pleaded, the man was so stubborn.
“I told Nikki Wade I’d be there at five… look whatever it is, surely you can put that off?” he looked irritated now. Sean hated when he was not the one getting his own way.
“I have to work… they called me about an hour ago, a problem on the wing, I have to be there.” Helen replied.
Sean reached for his car keys and walked to the door, “That’s just great Helen! If you change your mind we’ll be at Harrods.”
Helen heard the door slam as Sean left, it left her a little shaken and dumbfounded… the man could be so… selfish! Zen moment

Chapter 3
Nikki stood with her arms folded against her smart black suit, the crisp white shirt beneath contrasted wildly with her tan. She looked at Sean Parr with some amusement, he was worse than any woman she had dealt with… and she had lost count of the number of suits he had tried and then asked her, “How about this one?” She would not have minded but they all looked vaguely the same, very conservative styles, black or grey… and each and everyone suited him, as she told him… but he still insisted on trying another. Nikki looked at her watch and commented as he checked himself over in the mirror once more…
“Your fiancé will think you’ve run away with me.”
Sean laughed as he turned around to face her, “Are you offering?”
Nikki just smiled and let him make his own mind up about her sexuality; she wasn’t about to offer it.
When he did not get a response he looked back into the mirror and unbuttoned the suit, “I think I liked the first one best after all.”
Nikki at that moment could have easily killed a man with the tip of a sharp coat hanger, a man not a million miles away from her right now… instead she hid her displeasure and sighed with some relief, she was after all running late and getting very hungry.
Once Sean had paid for the suit they headed back to their cars and before leaving each other Nikki discussed plans for the week ahead, after all in two weeks now Sean would be walking up the aisle with his lovely fiancé and she didn’t want anything to go wrong… “So when do I get to meet the future Mrs Parr?” Nikki asked finally as they stood beside Nikki’s Porsche.
Sean frowned, “I don’t know…”
Nikki smiled curiously, “Are you sure she wants to get married?”
“Of course I’m sure!” He said defensively.
“Okay, I was only joking… take a chill pill.” Nikki replied and then asked, “What’s she like?”
“What? Oh Helen!” Sean grinned, “She’s the sexiest woman alive…”
“Mmm…” Nikki replied thoughtfully, “But what is she like?”
“She’s great, she’s going to make the perfect wife and a great mother to our kids.” He smiled confidently.
“You have children?” Nikki was very surprised and a little worried… she had not planned for children in this picture.
“No!” Sean replied quickly and laughed, “But hopefully soon.”
“Oh…” Nikki replied relieved… “Good… “
Sean began to walk away, “See you soon.”
“And Sean…” Nikki called out.
“Yeah?” He looked back.
“Maybe you can bring a photo of Helen with you next time… so I at least know whom I am going to be dealing with?” she smiled.
He nodded and smiled before dashing off to his car.
Helen got into her car and headed for her favourite restaurant, she didn’t fancy cooking and could not face Sean on an empty stomach, work had been hell and she needed a glass of wine. She pulled up outside The Med… her restaurant of choice when she wanted to relax on her own… it was also conveniently on her route home. She sent Sean a text once she got there and told him she was eating out.
“Usual table by the window madam?” The Greek waiter greeted her and smiled.
“Please…” Helen replied, her head just beginning to hurt from the stress of the day… or her life, she wasn’t quite sure.
The waiter came back in seconds, “I must apologise but there is someone sitting at that table, however, if you do not mind sharing, the young lady said its okay.”
Helen sighed, she was tired and her feet hurt, she really didn’t care, “Yeah that will be fine, thanks.”
Helen was led over to the table by the window, overlooking the Thames. She looked down at the dark haired woman who was already there gazing at a menu.
“Excuse me… are you sure you don’t mind me joining you?”
The woman placed her menu down for a minute and gazed up into the eyes of Helen Stewart… Helen immediately felt the impact of brown eyes upon her and brooding ones at that…
“Of course not, besides,” the woman looked around her, “It’s getting pretty busy, I’d feel bad if I told you to bugger off.”
Helen laughed and noticed the woman’s eyes seemed to shine in response… Helen felt something she had never experienced before and she couldn’t quite believe it, she was feeling attraction towards another woman! She sat down quickly and tried to put that feeling to the back of beyond.
The waiter returned quite quickly and took both women’s orders…
“Any drinks while you wait?” He asked.
“I’ll have the house wine.” Helen replied looking up at the tall man.
“Me too…” The other woman replied, “Why don’t we share a bottle?”
Helen nodded, “Yeah okay, but I can only have one… I’m driving.”
“Same here.” The woman smiled back at Helen, “We can always stick a cork in it.”
Two bottles of wine later the two women were still chatting and laughing, enjoying the wine and the glorious sunset across London from the window…And Helen had learnt that her new friends name was Nicola but she liked to be known as Nikki.
“I guess we’ll both be calling a taxi then.” Nikki commented as she sank back the last bit of wine in her glass.
“Aye we will…” Helen smiled across at her. God she is gorgeous… those eyes… those lips, that dark hair…I could just run my hands through it… and… oh god what am I thinking!
Nikki was equally struggling with her hormones… “You have beautiful eyes.”
Helen laughed a little nervously, “Where did that come from?”
“My lips.” Nikki grinned.
Helen gazed at the lips in question, fine lips they were too. She shyly looked to the window, “Its gorgeous tonight, do you fancy a walk?”
“Are you sure you trust me? I am after all a complete stranger, and not only that a raving single dyke.” Nikki joked.
“Why wouldn’t I trust you? I trust myself with my fiancé after all…” Helen stood and put on her coat, “So are you coming?”
Nikki smiled and put on her jacket and part of her felt very jealous of Helen’s fiancé, he was indeed a very lucky man.
They both ended up leaning against the railings facing the globe theatre.
“Have you ever been in there?” Nikki asked casually. The wind ruffled her hair and Helen felt her heart swell… “I haven’t, I always wanted to but my fiancé, he’s not really into the theatre.”
“You don’t know what your missing Helen, its an amazing experience. Live theatre, nothing like it, especially Shakespeare played by an all female cast.”
“Really?” Helen looked surprised.
“Yeah, they have an all female version on at the moment, of Taming of the Shrew…”
“I love that…” Helen replied, “In fact I enjoy most of Shakespeare’s works”
Nikki took in Helen’s beautiful face as the sun shone across her, her hair looked blonder than it really was, it had a golden hue… it was almost angelic… Nikki had to remember to breathe and then she had to remember what she was going to say… “Well I have a spare ticket for next weekend if you fancy it?”
“You do?” Helen looked pleased, “If your sure?”
“Absolutely. I just split up with my girlfriend and well I’d rather share this with someone who will fully appreciate the value of Shakespeare, its something she never quite got.”
“I can understand that one,” Helen sighed thinking of Sean. Then she smiled up at Nikki, “I’d love to go with you…”

Chapter 4
Sean looked over at his fiancé, she appeared to be miles away… staring into to nothing or so it seemed. The television was on and the lights were down low, the perfect atmosphere for a cosy evening in with the future Mrs Parr, or so Sean thought…
“Helen…” He called to her from the sofa where he was sitting hoping she would join him.
Helen only just about heard her name being called, she looked from her comfy chair across to him, “What?”
“Are you okay? You seem a bit distant.” He spoke carefully and sat forward with his hands clasped.
“I’m fine.” She frowned as her mobile beeped. She took it from the pocket of her trousers and read the message…
Hi, hope you do not mind, but I am bored and was wondering if you are doing anything tonight? There is a good movie on at the Apollo if you are interested… the tall dark stranger ;-)
Helen laughed to herself and started to txt in her reply…
I would love too… but I don’t think my fiancé would be very impressed if I up and left him.
Sean looked at Helen, “Who’s that?”
“A friend.” Helen replied and smiled into her phone as it beeped again…
You’ll have plenty of time for him when your married… surely you are allowed a girls night out… N x
Helen smiled and warmth spread through her at the innocent little kiss that followed the message… she replied immediately, not wanting to let Nikki go…
I will see what I can do… call you soon. H x
“A friend?” Sean looked puzzled, “Claire?”
“No… someone I met recently, her name is Nicola.” Helen replied standing.
“Where you going?” Sean asked as he watched Helen head towards the hallway.
“I hope you don’t mind, but the nights young and I’ve been offered a girls night out…” Helen explained as she stood eagerly at the open door.
Sean huffed and folded his arms and then sat back on the sofa, “I don’t own you Hels.” Yet… he added in thought.
“Yes I know,” she stepped up to him and lent down to massage his ego, “But I want to make sure your okay about this first.”
He sighed, “Well I’d rather you stayed in, obviously… but I am sure I can find something to do.” He smiled.
Helen lent in and met Sean’s expectant lips in a kiss… then she stood and smiled, “Don’t wait up we might take in a club after the movie.”
Sean watched Helen leave and was a little flustered, “Movie? Club?” he said to himself as the door shut behind Helen… “The sooner were married the better…”
Helen stood on the pavement outside her house and dialled Nikki’s number….
Nikki was in the shower when her mobile rang, she hadn’t expected Helen to call back, especially so soon… she stepped out all wet and grabbed a towel to place around her shoulders, then she walked through to her bedroom and picked up the mobile off the bed, “Hello?”
“Hiya.”
Nikki smiled instantly at the sound of Helen’s voice, “Helen… I hope your phoning to give me good news.”
“Aye… I’m all yours.” Helen had grinned as she said it.
Nikki’s heart pounded, had she heart a hint of flirting in the Scots voice? “Meet you at the Apollo at seven, we can have a coffee before we go in.”
“Sounds great, I’m on my way.” Helen replied eager to put as much space between her and Sean as soon as possible before he changed his mind.
Nikki placed her phone down once they had said goodbye, then she sat on the bed and ran the towel through her hair until it was just damp enough for the gel. Her towel dropped to the floor as she walked naked to her bathroom cabinet and picked out her bottle of diesel spray perfume. After a quick spray all over she looked into the mirror and decided on a little bit of make-up, just a touch around the cheekbones and the eyes with no lipstick. Once complete she finished off by picking out one of her favourite white shirts over her white vest, a pair of wranglers, black boots and a casual black jacket. One last look in the mirror to do her hair and she was ready… she hoped that Helen was ready for her!
Helen looked from her table where she was sitting drinking coffee to the doors that had just opened at the Apollo café. “My God…” she said quietly to herself, “Nikki…” she stood and waved with a big smile, her heart thumping in her chest.
Nikki approached, she was smiling too as she greeted Helen with a hug and then a gentle kiss on the cheek…
When they were parting from the embrace their eyes caught… locked for a few seconds in complete silence, something neither could explain passed between them, a feeling of déjà vu almost… it felt so right to be there, right then, with each other.
Nikki sat down and caught her breath… she had rushed to catch her tube not wanting to be late for Helen.
“You look gorgeous.” Helen commented, taking in the sight before her, “And you small wonderful… what is it?”
Nikki laughed a little nervously, she had not been expecting comments like that from a straight chick that was going to be walking down the aisle soon… “Glad you like it, its diesel for women.” Nikki picked up the menu as the waitress approached.
Helen suddenly was very aware of how she was feeling… hot was a good description.
Nikki ordered a coffee and relaxed, closing her eyes for a second.
Helen’s eyes were drawn, to the top of Nikki’s shirt where it opened wide to reveal her slender neck, she almost licked her lips in appreciation. She gazed down quickly as Nikki opened her eyes and looked at her then smiled.
“Thanks for asking me out…” Helen then said breaking the silence.
“Thank you for joining me…” Nikki replied, her eyes meeting Helen’s again… “Your fiancé didn’t mind you being led astray then?”
Helen laughed, “I’d hardly call it that… but no he didn’t mind.”
Nikki’s coffee arrived and she took a moment to consider what Helen had said… “So when’s the big day?”
Helen looked confused…
“Your wedding?” Nikki reminded her.
“Oh that!” Helen laughed.
“It is rather important to know…” Nikki teased her and Helen liked it.
“Mmm I guess it is… a few weeks time.” Helen told her.
“I know a couple who are getting married in a few weeks… I’m not sure how long that wedding will last though.” Nikki commented thinking about Sean.
“Oh why is that?” Helen asked curiously.
“He’s a bit of an idiot… she doesn’t seem to be taking much interest in the wedding… doesn’t bode well for an happy marriage.” Nikki explained, “But I guess some couples just settle because it’s the safe thing to do.”
“Yeah.” Helen replied quietly.
The conversation went a bit dry at that point but luckily it was time to go into the cinema… they shared a tub of minstrels and a drink… enjoyed the movie and left feeling refreshed, it had been a light hearted comedy romance which had left them both feeling good. On the way out Helen suggested they go for a drink somewhere, she had the night free and wanted to make the most of it.
“Sure I know a good place.” Nikki replied waving down a cab.
Helen felt her hand being tugged as she was led into the back cab.
They both slumped down beside each other and Helen looked to Nikki, “Where are we going?”
“Do you trust me?” Nikki asked.
“Of course… just tell me where were going.” Helen smiled.
“Don’t panic when I tell you…” Nikki warned lightly.
“Uh?” Helen frowned and then laughed nervously, “Now your scaring me.”
“A gay club.” Nikki revealed.
“Oh…” Helen replied quietly, not sure what she thought of the idea… then she replied, “Well I guess that will give Sean something to think about, and he sure as hell wont get jealous.”
Nikki looked to Helen’s green eyes… “Sean?” It was all clicking into place now.
“Yes that’s my fiancés name.” Helen smiled.
Christ… Nikki was stumped but she decided not to let on who she was… she was having far too much fun to spoil the moment, “He’s a very lucky man.”
“You could do with telling him that…” Helen joked.
“Maybe one day I will.” Nikki smiled knowingly. It has to be him… them… it is one hell of a coincidence if it isn’t. Zen moment

Chapter 5
Once inside Helen was beginning to wonder what on earth she was doing there, I’ve not had enough to drink, I’ll be fine after a few… she thought gazing around gobsmacked at all the women on the dance floor.
She was brought out of her thoughts by Nikki walking up behind her and handing her a drink…
“Whisky and coke”
“Thanks… you’re a doll.” Helen said before taking a gulp.
Nikki had a sheer look of surprise at the speed in which Helen downed it, just as if she was drinking a glass of water… “Bloody hell…”
“What?” Helen smiled, “Have ye not been drunk under the table before by a Scotswoman?”
“I don’t believe I have no…” Nikki replied with a half grin.
Helen handed Nikki her empty glass, “I’ll have another of those.”
Nikki’s eyes were first of the empty glass and then as if like magic that faded away and all she could see were green eyes… smiling back at her… “Your not going to be a cheap date are you?”
Helen just laughed lightly as Nikki walked away to the bar again. All the time, Helen’s eyes were focusing on Nikki’s butt.
When Nikki returned with a bottle of beer and another whiskey they found a table in the far reaches of the room, away from the dance floor so they could not only hear their selves talk but hear their selves think! The music was high… the atmosphere was hot and the place was alive with female hormones.
“No girlfriend on the horizon then?” Helen commented as they both sat down.
Nikki looked out at the sea of women, “Oh there is one woman I am interested in but she’s spoken for.”
Helen didn’t catch on at all… she looked out at the women, some of which were looking at her, “Why are they looking at me?”
Nikki chuckled and then told her, “Because your gorgeous Helen… and this is a lesbian nightclub.”
Helen looked at Nikki a little startled, “I didn’t think about that.”
“Don’t worry about it…” Nikki said easing back into the chair.
“I’m not but Sean would be horrified if he knew.” Helen said a little anxious all of a sudden.
“Well he wont know, not unless you tell him” Nikki reminded her, “Relax… you deserve to have some fun before you tie the knot.”
Helen sighed, “Your right…I didn’t come here to hide away, I came out to have some fun…” she stood and reached out for Nikki’s hand.
Nikki was pulled up from her seat, “Where are we going may I ask?”
“I want to dance…” Helen said as she led Nikki back over to the dance floor… “The night is young.”
Nikki’s next surprise was Helen holding her tight and telling her over the sound of the music, “Pretend you’re with me, then they will stop looking interested.”
Nikki inwardly gulped, she hadn’t planned on this happening, “What?”
“Just do it.” Helen ordered as she reached up behind Nikki’s hair and pulled her down to kiss her.
Nikki felt her heart jump out of her chest and the rush of blood to her toes… warmth spread at a rapid rate and she felt like she might faint… Helen’s mouth was joined to hers and there was nothing she could do about it, even if she wanted too. And… God did it feel good!
Breathlessly Helen let Nikki go and just gazed into her deep brown eyes, “Sorry…”
“Why?” Nikki asked a little stunned and highly aroused.
“I shouldn’t have done that.” Helen replied feeling bad… then she shook her head, “How much have I had to drink?”
Nikki smiled, “Two doubles.”
“It usually takes more than that.” Helen replied looking away.
“So you do this often then?” Nikki teased.
Helen looked to her and laughed, “No!”
“Look Helen, were only pretending… don’t be so uptight… besides I think it worked they aren’t watching us anymore.” Nikki told her.
Helen let out a breath, “Your right.”
“Do you want to finish this dance?” Nikki asked politely.
“Please…” Helen said smiling, “Hold me like your marrying me tomorrow.”
Nikki felt her heart swell, Helen… how I wish I were.
They continued to dance, between dances they chatting to one another and they drank and became extremely merry… and when it was time to call it a night Helen almost did the unthinkable… They were in the washroom and as Nikki came out of the cubical she could feel Helen’s eyes upon her, her imagination started to go wild, she could have sworn Helen was making love to her with those eyes, they were so heavy lidded, so seductive, but it could be the drink… Nikki reminded herself. Then Helen stepped up to her and pulled at her shirt… Nikki fell into her hungry kiss and they were temporarily lost in each other.
“I want you.” Helen breathed between kisses.
“Mmm…” was the only noise that Nikki could manage to make… she was so hungry for Helen right now that if she didn’t get her she would probably die!
“I’ve never felt like this before…” Helen moaned as Nikki licked at her neck and ear.
“I want you so much I can already taste you…” Nikki breathed into her ear softly.
Helen’s whole body seemed to light up with the erotic words and the way in which they were spoken.
“Then take me…” Helen looked to Nikki’s aroused eyes with so much desire.
Nikki lifted Helen’s blouse just enough so she could reach her hands inside and touch the soft warm skin.
Helen shivered with delight, “Oh God I need this…” she whispered.
Just then the sound of the washroom door disturbed their interlude, two women walked in laughing and oblivious to them both…
They broke apart startled, like two teenagers caught in the act…
“Oh God… Nikki, I’m sorry.” Helen put her hand to her mouth, “I shouldn’t be doing this, I shouldn’t be here.”
“Helen!” Before Nikki could stop her, Helen was running for the exit.
“Have a good night did you?” Sean greeted Helen as she entered the kitchen the following morning with a towel around her head and a bathrobe on. Wet from the shower and in desperate need of a hangover cure.
“Great yeah.” Helen replied quietly getting some water and some tablets to settle her stomach.
“Where did you go? You weren’t back until four in the morning.” Sean asked possessively.
“A club, I told you.” Helen replied a little annoyed at his tone. She sat down at the table and poured herself some orange juice.
“Helen you really shouldn’t drink so much.” Sean frowned as he put on his jacket.
Helen ignored the comment and looked at him, “You going to work?”
“Yeah I have one appointment this morning… and don’t forget were meeting the wedding planner this afternoon… together.” He emphasized the together bit.
Helen sighed and groaned, “Sean I really don’t feel up to it.”
He looked down and almost met her nose, “You’ll be fine. See you at the church for the rehearsal.” He kissed her nose and made his way out, eager to get the morning over with.
Helen arrived twenty minutes late, having been caught up in traffic… she rushed through the church doors dressed in a black trouser suit and red blouse… her make-up to perfection and her hair tucked behind one ear… dashing in she hadn’t even noticed their wedding planner standing by the inner doors.
Nikki was nervous before hand, but now she was bricking it! “Shit it is Helen.” She said under her breath. “Time to face the music…” she walked down the aisle to where Sean was standing proudly in his jeans and a casual grey shirt… Helen had just caught up to Sean and was making her apologies. Then Sean turned around on hearing Nikki’s footsteps behind them…
“Helen… this is Nikki Wade our wedding planner.” He grinned looking from Nikki to Helen beside him. Helen turned around and was about to smile and greet the woman who was making her fiancé so happy these days…
“Nice to meet….” Helen stopped halfway, her hand already in Nikki’s hand, “you!” She added shocked pulling her hand away. Zen moment

The wedding planner
Chapter 6
Nikki grabbed Helen Stewart by her elbow and whispered in her ear quickly, “Outside now.”
Helen glared up at Nikki and shuffled out of her grip, but nevertheless followed her outside the church anyway, not wishing to cause anymore of a scene in front of her fiancé.
Nikki stepped outside the huge wooden church doors and waiting for Helen to join her, her lips were pursed and her eyes were angry.
Meanwhile inside the church Sean stood with his mouth open watching his future wife and child bearer rushing out of the church on Nikki Wades tail… he looked to his best man Jonathan who had been sitting down in a pew at the front, “Do they know each other?”
Jonathan wrinkled his nose and folded his arms as he yawned, “Who?”
Sean gazed back at the church doors as Helen flew out of them, “Never mind…” he then looked at his best man, “Go back to sleep”
“What the hell are you playing at?” Helen was stood outside glaring up at Nikki, her and Sean’s wedding planner.
Nikki frowned, “I could ask you the same question!”
“You took advantage of me!” Helen said sternly holding her ground.
Nikki looked around and then took Helen by the arm again, “Not here…” she said huskily infuriated before taking Helen to one side of the church where no one could hear or see them… she didn’t want anyone to hear what she had to say to Helen Stewart right now, especially as she was hired to plan her wedding to weedy Sean Parr.
Helen huffed as she was roughly manhandled by Nikki and put in her place… she stood with her hands folded and her eyes ingrained into her feet.
“Now look here…” Nikki began to scold Helen like she was a spoilt child.
“Wait.” Helen suddenly looked up at Nikki, “Who do you think you are? Your supposed to be my wedding planner… and you took advantage of me when you knew I was getting married.”
Nikki looked to Helen’s eyes unaware of how they would make her feel… they were deep green pools of anger and Nikki felt herself melting into them… for a minute she was silent until she pulled herself back to reality… “From where I was it looked like you were taking full advantage of me!” she laughed as she spoke but she wasn’t at all amused.
Helen looked even more furious, “I’m getting married Nikki and you knew that.”
“I didn’t know you were marrying Sean Parr… you could have been marrying a right tosser for all I knew… someone who didn’t deserve you.” And as the words fell out of her angry lips she realised that Sean Parr was just as she had described… “Shit! You are!”
Helen looked a little embarrassed, “Sean isn’t that bad.”
“Then why were you crying on my shoulder the other night?” Nikki questioned quietly through narrowed eyes.
Helen looked right back into those eyes and felt her heart beat faster…”Cold feet, last minute nerves…” she said and looked away ashamed by her own lies.
Nikki could see Helen’s reluctance to be honest with herself and for a second or two thought about fighting her on it and trying to get her to admit it was a little more than cold feet, “Fine.” Was all she replied with before walking away and leaving Helen standing there.
“Nikki!” Helen called after her…”Where are you going?” fear seemed to strike her hard in the gut.
Nikki stopped briefly, looked to Helen and replied, “I have a wedding to plan, I suggest you pull yourself together and join me.”
When Helen and Sean got home he had already decided on their evening, he took off his jacket and followed Helen through to the living room. Helen sat down on the sofa and immediately put her feet up, her head hurt and she was beginning to think it was because of the pounding of her heart everytime she thought about Nikki Wade and the way she was so infuriating… and worst still, the way she was spot on right about everything!
“You okay hels?” Sean asked as he sat down beside her. For once he really did look concerned.
“Fine.” She muttered as he pulled her legs onto his lap and took off her shoes.
“How do you know Nikki Wade?”
Helen’s heart skipped a beat when she heard that name… then she vaguely looked at Sean and remained calm, “I met her once.”
“And?” he encouraged as he began to rub Helen’s feet.
“Mmm…” Helen sighed and rested back, hands behind her head, eyes closed.
“Helen?”
“She bumped into my car, we exchanged a few heated words.” Helen lied, “But everything is fine now, don’t worry.”
Sean sighed with relief, “That’s a relief, I thought I would have to hire another wedding planner.”
“No need.” Helen smiled sweetly and relaxed.
And as Sean kept on making her feet feel good all Helen could see was a vision of the strong, sexy, tall dark haired beauty… and the vision was taking on a lot more than Sean was doing! Helen almost gave away her fantasy when Sean moved up the sofa and kissed her… in her mind she was moaning the words… “Oh Nicola…”
Then just as Sean’s hands began to wonder under her shirt she came to her senses, her eyes shot open and she looked apologetically at her fiancé, “I’m sorry…”
“What’s wrong?” he frowned and sat up.
“My head hurts…” Helen winced… it really did hurt.
“Well I know a good cure for that.” Sean grinned edging closer.
Helen panicked inside herself, “NO Sean!”
His hands were pushed away and he looked hurt, “Okay…I’ll make us some tea.” He stood and Helen let out a quiet sigh of relief… then he turned to look down at her, “And by the way, were booked in at that nice little Italian this evening… were meeting up with Jeff and Kate.”
“What?” Helen’s forehead wrinkled slightly as she frowned, “Sean I’d rather not go anywhere feeling like this.”
“Don’t be silly…” He replied as he headed for the kitchen, “You’ll be fine in a few hours…”
Helen sighed heavily… and Nikki’s look of contempt and those angry eyes ran through her mind, she could just imagine what Nikki would say if she were here now… Zen moment

The wedding planner
Chapter 7
The restaurant was crowded and noisy… and most of all, the last place on earth Helen Stewart wanted to be.
To make matters worse Sean had insisted on holding her hand the whole way there and he still hadn’t let go. Helen had noticed that the closer it got to their wedding day the more clingy he had become. This worried her somewhat.
“Sean,” she frowned, “Can you let go now, I would like to sit and eat my dinner with two hands.”
They were seated beside each other, she had whispered in his ear, not wishing for their friends to hear her request.
Sean looked at Helen, “Sure…” he smiled a little and let go of her hand. Just at that moment the waiter arrived and asked what everyone who like to drink.
Helen was strictly putting herself on water until she glanced around the restaurant and noticed Nikki Wade…
“Hels?” Sean looked at his distracted fiancé, “Drink?”
“Anything alcoholic…” Helen replied as she took her gaze away from the woman who was now driving her to drink.
“Are you sure?” Sean looked confused, “I thought you weren’t feeling one hundred percent.”
“I’m not, that’s why I want a strong drink.” Helen replied, “I’ll have the house wine with you lot.”
Sean ordered the wine and an extra glass for Helen and then they all browsed their menus.
Helen spent most of her time browsing the room for Nikki, wondering where she had disappeared too, and then like magic, the tall gorgeous one walked from the bar area with a woman on her arm and a grin like the cat who had got the cream.
Helen’s heart seemed to dip… She had the strangest feeling as she watched Nikki and her date choose a table by the window. They were both smiling and laughing as they sat down. Then Helen realised what her feelings were, strong feelings of desire mixed with intense anger and frustration, she was jealous!
Nikki Wade was completely unaware of being watched… she hadn’t noticed Helen and Sean, she was too pleased with herself having finally got Emma Johnson to go on a date with her. Emma worked at the club that Nikki co-owned with Trisha, (now her ex). And having got the brush off from Helen and realising that Helen was definitely a little out of bounds Nikki decided to call Emma up and ask her out for dinner. She was determined not to sit around at home and let her disastrous love life get the better of her.
Emma glanced around, “Nice place… you do have good taste and not just in women.” She smiled at Nikki with perfect white teeth and a smile to match. Her hair was long, down to her shoulder blades and her eyes were blue. She wore a simple outfit, a snug red v-neck top and a black skirt. Her perfume occasionally invaded Nikki’s nostrils and Nikki would smile satisfied… she recognised Emma’s perfume, it smelt just like Helen’s.
“Yeah its one of the best…” Nikki returned the smile and lifted the wine menu, “Do you want to choose or shall I?”
Emma looked awkward and gritted her teeth, “Erm…actually.”
Nikki frowned, “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t drink…” Emma told her.
“But you work in a bar.” Nikki was amazed.
“That’s exactly why I don’t drink.” Emma replied, “I’ve seen the effects of too much alcohol.”
“Fair enough, I wont drink either.” Nikki placed the wine menu down and when the waiter arrived they both ordered coke.
“So… what kind of things are you interested in?” Nikki began trying to get to know Emma better, they hadn’t really mixed much at the club but Emma had shown a keen interest when Nikki was still with Trisha… and Nikki had turned her down every time. So when Nikki came calling this time it took a bit of persuasion on Nikki’s part.
“I love dancing…” Emma replied glancing at her own nails, “Fashion…” she looked up at Nikki and gave her a seductive smile…”You.”
Nikki smiled back at her, “And?”
“That’s it.” There was a slight pause and then Emma added, “Soaps, I love to watch the soaps.”
Nikki inwardly groaned, she hated the soaps; in fact she rarely put the television on these days. She decided to read the menu instead and try to decide what to have from the vegetarian dishes on offer.
“What about you?” Emma asked deeply curious about her date.
“Me?” Nikki looked up, “I love books.”
“What kind of books?”
“Any!” Nikki smiled, “But especially the classics… I can loose myself in them for hours.”
Emma had to stifle a yawn… “Really.” She smiled and then browsed the menu.
Once the meal was finished Helen excused herself from the table, the conversation had been boring, the subject of babies came up much too often for her liking and all Sean could talk about was their impending wedding date next weekend. The whole thing was starting to freak Helen out and she needed to get some air…
“Excuse me a moment, ladies room.” Helen smiled but it was obvious to all but Sean that she didn’t look at all comfortable this evening.
Jeff and Kate smiled back and watched her go with some concern… Sean just called a waiter and ordered more wine.
Helen stepped into the ladies room and stood before a sink, she swilled her face with cold water, dried herself with a paper towel and lent her hands on the sink. A deep sigh escaped her just as the doors to the ladies room opened and someone walked inside. Helen looked over towards the door… and she suddenly felt faint.
“Helen…” Nikki Wade was standing just inside the door.
“Nikki…” Helen stood up straight and flicked her hair from her face, tucking it behind one ear.
Nikki approached her, “What are you doing here?”
Helen breathed out, “It’s a free country Nikki…”
“Sorry,” Nikki moved closer, “I’m just surprised to see you in my regular.”
“It was Sean’s idea.” Helen told her with a slight frown.
“Oh…” Nikki replied, her envy clouded her eyes.
Then they both went to speak… and smiled…
“You first.” Helen told Nikki.
“You look gorgeous.” Nikki’s eyes took in the shapely black low cut top and wandered down to the tight fitting black trousers that met the leather boots.
“So do you.” Helen replied honestly… and she was just as surprised as Nikki was by her own honesty, “I mean… you look great.” She smiled nervously.
Nikki felt a little flustered, she knew exactly what Helen had meant, why wouldn’t she bloody admit to it!
“Helen… why are you marrying that man?”
Helen looked away, not wishing to have the conversation.
Nikki placed her hand to Helen’s arm, “Answer me…”
Helen glared back at Nikki a little angrily… “Its none of your business Nikki.”
Nikki felt her anger start to rise, “None of my business?” she laughed, “I’m your wedding planner Helen and I have seen plenty of couples get married…none of them were less suited than you and Sean.”
“You don’t know us.” Helen replied almost venomously.
“Helen…” Nikki replied in frustration, “What are you afraid of?”
“Nothing!” Helen replied, her heart heavy.
“Is he forcing you to marry him?” Nikki kept on with her line of questioning. Something wasn’t right here and she was determined to get to the bottom of it.
“No! Its nothing like that… he loves me.” Helen looked more than a little unwell by this point.
“But do you love him?” Nikki asked.
“I… I don’t…” Helen suddenly felt dizzy… she raised her hand to her head… and that was the last thing she remembered before waking up in Nikki Wades arms on the floor of the ladies room.

Zen moment

The wedding planner

Chapter 8
“Helen…” Nikki’s eyes were full of concern; she was kneeling down holding Helen in her arms.
“Nikki…” Helen opened her eyes to see Nikki gazing down at her. For a fleeting moment she wondered where she was, then she remembered. She was in the washroom at the restaurant, she and Nikki had been talking and then… well then she felt sick to her stomach and… “What happened?” she asked.
Nikki helped Helen to her feet slowly “You fainted.” Nikki told her.
Helen felt suddenly very embarrassed… she brushed herself down and tried to hide it.
“Helen is everything alright?” Nikki placed a gentle hand to Helen’s arm.
Helen looked at her, “Apart from a stinking head ache yes.”
“Are you sure?” Nikki asked concerned, “You don’t look too good. Maybe we should take you down to the hospital, let them have a look at you.”
“Nikki…I’m fine honestly.”
Nikki still wasn’t entirely sure of that, “You passed out Helen.”
“I know.” Helen sounded a little irritated.
“Is there something going on here that I don’t know about?” Nikki quizzed.
“Like what?” Helen said dismissively.
“Your not pregnant are you?”
Helen’s eyes widened with horror, “NO!”
“Okay, I only asked.” Nikki said gently calming her down.
Helen still looked horrified by the last question so Nikki decided to let it drop.
“I’ll walk you back to your table.”
“Sure…” Helen frowned.
“Hels where have you been?” Sean looked up at his fiancé as she approached with Nikki Wade on her arm… he noticed her, “Nikki… what are you doing here?”
“I found Helen in the washroom looking a bit pasty.” Nikki replied as Helen took her seat.
Helen gave Nikki a look of daggers; she could tell Nikki was being petulant.
“I’ll see you both tomorrow for final arrangements.”
Sean nodded, “Yeah see you then.”
Nikki walked off with Helen’s eyes burrowing into her back.
Helen then looked to Sean, “My headache still hasn’t shifted, can you take me home.”
“But hels, the fun has only just started,” he smiled and looked at Kate, “Hasn’t it Kate?”
Kate looked really concerned for Helen, “Helen if your not feeling well I can go back with you and we can leave the lads to it.”
“Would you?” Helen looked somewhat relieved.
“Of course, now get your coat on.” Kate said standing up and pulling on her own jacket.
“What about us?” Sean looked at them both in amazement.
“You’re a big boy now Sean I am sure you can handle a lads night out.” Kate smiled a little and then turned her attention back to her friend… “You ready then?”
Helen nodded and Kate led the way. They passed Nikki’s table on the way out; Kate smiled politely in Nikki’s direction, Nikki smiled back. Then Helen and Nikki’s eyes met and Nikki was very aware when Helen’s eyes shifted across to Emma… she was also very aware of the look Helen gave her as she left. Nikki had seen that look many times in her years as a wedding planner; it was a look of total and utter jealousy. Yes the little green woman had paid Helen a visit all right. Nikki had to smile to herself when Helen was out of view.
“What are you looking so pleased about?” Emma smiled as she sipped her 4th glass of wine.
“Oh nothing…” Nikki grinned, “Do you fancy going on to a club?”
“Is the pope catholic?” Emma replied wide-eyed.
Once home Helen put her feet up while Kate made then both some tea. Kate placed the tea tray on the coffee table, then poured two cups with milk and sat beside Helen.
“Come on Helen… Out with it.”
Helen looked at Kate, “Pardon?”
“I want to know what’s going on, you and Sean are supposed to be getting married at the weekend and all you did tonight was bicker at every given opportunity.”
Helen sighed, “I didn’t want to go out tonight, he more or less forced me.”
“You should stand up to him… God that man is a complete fool sometimes.” Kate frowned.
Helen knew she was right but she hadn’t got that fight in her right now… all she wanted to do was curl up and sleep.
“Here take these.” Kate handed Helen two pain relievers.
“Thanks.” Helen replied gratefully.
“Talk to me Helen…” Kate gave her friend a pained look.
“What do you want me to say?” Helen suddenly looked at her, having swallowed the tablets, “That Sean is getting on my nerves more than not?” she paused and then continued with a deep frown, “That work is a real shit right now and Sean is never there for me? And when he is there, all he thinks about is himself and his needs…” then she looked sad, almost tearful, her voice remained calm but became quieter, “And… that I’ve fallen in love with someone else.”
Kate looked shocked and sat back beside her… “Oh God.”
Helen sat up and looked to Kate, “And that someone makes me feel alive again… where Sean just leaves me feeling drained.”
“Who is it?” Kate dared to ask.
“I can’t tell you.” Helen replied looking away.
Kate sat forward beside Helen, “Helen you can’t confess this much and then not even tell me who this other guy is.”
Helen almost laughed, she looked to Kate and with tears in her eyes she told her, “Its not a he, it’s a she.”
Nikki realised she was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong woman when Emma started to bump and grind as they danced…the kissing and touching had been one thing but the constant suggestion in her voice about where the night would lead them made Nikki shiver, and not in a pleasant way.
Nikki decided it was time to quit and feigned a headache… well if it worked for Helen.
She stepped out of Emma’s clutches; “Ow…” she said holding her head.
Emma looked worried, “Nikki are you okay?”
“Bit of a headache.” Nikki frowned and put on her best, pained expression.
“Oh sweetheart…” Emma said taking Nikki’s hand.
“I’ll be fine babe, I think I should call it a night though.” Nikki smiled a little to reassure her.
Emma tugged at her hand, “Good idea… my place or yours?”
Nikki suddenly felt a cold sweat coming on… “Well er…”
“My place it is then…” Emma smiled and kissed Nikki’s lips lightly before taking her from the dance floor.
“Wait…” Nikki stopped dead as Emma went to call a taxi from the pavement.
Emma smiled at Nikki, “What is it, have you changed your mind?”
“Yes.” Nikki frowned as she stood shivering outside the club. The cold night breeze seemed to shoot right through her.
Emma stepped up to Nikki, “Good, I know a good coffee place that stays open all night.”
“No Emma… you don’t get it.” Nikki told her through brooding brown eyes.
“Uh?”
“I want to go home.” She paused and added clearly, “Alone.”
Emma looked hurt, “Alone?”
“Yes…”
“Oh…”
“We can share a cab.” Nikki told her trying to lighten the woman’s mood.
“A cab?” Emma laughed bitterly, “I don’t want to share a bloody cab, I want to share a bed! Honestly Nikki you get me all worked up and promise me the world and then you do this to me.”
“Darling, I didn’t promise you anything.” Nikki protested weakly.
“Then what was all that whispering of sweet nothings in my ear?” Emma looked disgusted as she remembered what Nikki promised to do to her.
“I thought it was what you wanted to hear…” Nikki admitted and realised how stupid she had been.
“It was, but you were supposed to mean it!” Emma almost growled.
Nikki just watched as Emma turned on her heels and stormed off, waved a cab, not looking back once. Zen moment

The wedding planner
Chapter 9
“Right then,” Nikki looked down her list on the clipboard in her hands, “What kind of flowers would you like in your bouquet?”
Helen could hardly look at Nikki never mind answer her question.
“Earth to Helen…” Nikki gazed at her and waved her pen in the air.
Helen looked at her gorgeous face and felt like she was dying inside, she wanted to be marrying this woman stood before her, not Sean Parr… but she couldn’t.
“Okay maybe I should suggest a few things?” Nikki frowned.
“Nikki…”
“Yes Helen.”
Helen nervously stirred her coffee and looked to her, “This is…”
“What?” Nikki pursed her lips and sat back in the chair. They were in Helen’s kitchen, sitting at the breakfast table. It was just after 10am and Helen had been left to talk over some final arrangements when Sean went off to work.
“Crazy.” Helen replied exasperated.
It had been an awkward morning already and now it was even worse with Sean leaving them alone together.
“So what are you saying Helen?” Nikki asked calmly. “That you’re not going to go through with this farce of a wedding?”
Helen frowned, “This is difficult for me Nikki.”
“And it’s not for me?” Nikki sighed deeply, “I have to plan the wedding of someone I care about. Someone who I know shouldn’t be getting married in the first place… someone,” Nikki paused, stood and walked to the window. She looked out at the garden and thought about how she would make it look, if only Helen were hers.
“Someone?” Helen dared to ask.
Nikki looked to her, her heart was heavy, “Someone who is completely in denial.”
Helen stood, her green eyes steady, even, her temperament too, “I’m straight Nikki.”
“Straight!” Nikki had to laugh at that. It was so… so naive.
Helen frowned again, “I had a lapse of judgement that night… I like you Nikki.” She stopped to consider her next words, “Even if I were attracted to you, there is no way we could be together.”
“Why?” Nikki stepped closer to Helen… her pained eyes said it all.
“My father has paid for the wedding, this is a big day for him… I can’t ruin it.” Helen knew how that sounded, but it was the truth.
Nikki looked horrified, “Christ Helen, you’re doing this for your father, what about what you want?”
Nikki’s hand touched Helen’s arm. The warmth of it swept through Helen, all she wanted to do was give in to her… “You don’t understand.”
“Too right I don’t understand!” Nikki replied making Helen face her, “This is wrong Helen.”
“My mother died when I was young, father always wanted me to marry, have children…”
“And what do you want?” Nikki asked gently.
“I want children…” Helen replied honestly… “One day.”
“But do you want them with Sean?” Nikki asked.
“He is the man I am marrying…”
“I don’t understand you Helen… how can you marry someone to please your father?” Nikki frowned at her… it was all too much to take in.
“No I am marrying Sean because he asked me too. I love him. He loves me, end of story.”
Helen couldn’t look at Nikki anymore it was breaking her heart.
Nikki sat back down, “Fine Helen, now what flowers do you want?”
Helen looked at her incredulously, “Roses.”
“Great.” Nikki tried to hide the pain in her gut, “Next on the agenda is the guest list.”
Helen sighed and sat down then looked over at Nikki, “I thought Sean had arranged that?”
“He did, but don’t you want to go through it in case?”
“No… I trust him.” Helen replied.
When Nikki returned to her flat she had to lie down, her head was spinning with everything. Usually weddings gave her a lift and made her feel good, but this one was just dragging her down. Nikki closed her eyes and then opened them again in disgust, all she could see was…
“Helen Bloody Stewart.”
The following days up until the Friday before the wedding went smoothly, Sean had been pleased with the arrangements and with Helen finally getting involved with them. Helen had spent most of her time at work, doing longer hours than usual. Sean just put it down to money… she would want to be saving if she would soon be taking time out to raise a family.
That lunchtime Sean asked Nikki to meet him at a local wine bar… there were some things he needed to discuss with her.
They sat at the bar, Nikki ordered coffee and Sean ordered a pint of lager.
“So what can I do for you?” Nikki asked.
Sean admired Nikki Wade, she worked hard and looked great, “That’s a gorgeous suit your wearing.” He commented with a smile.
“Armani.” Nikki replied casually. She liked to dress well, and had quite a lot of designer suits, shirts, shoes and accessories to match.
“Nice smell too.” He sniffed the air, “Armani too?”
“How did you guess?” Nikki smiled and tried to keep the sarcasm out of her voice.
“Right the reason I need to speak to you.” Sean continued, “It’s about Helen’s party tonight, as she asked you along?”
Nikki looked confused, “No, why would she?”
“Can you go? I just need someone there to keep an eye on things.”
“You what?” Nikki almost spit out her coffee.
“Its her last night as a single woman… and well, Helen can put back the drink with the best of them… I don’t want her getting into any… trouble.”
“Oh…”
“So will you do it? I’ll pay extra of course.” Sean dug out his wallet.
“I don’t know.” Nikki felt wrong spying on Helen like that.
“It’s for her own good. Look at it that way.” Sean encouraged as he opened his wallet.
“Yes… okay but if she finds out you sent me.” Nikki warned.
“She won’t. Thanks Nikki, you’re a mate.” Sean placed a handful of ten pound notes into Nikki’s hand and stood to leave.
Nikki gave it him back, “I can’t take this.”
“Why not? Keep it please, put it towards your drinks tonight.”
It looked like Sean wasn’t taking her refusal so she took the money.
“And don’t forget if you see her chatting to any strange blokes…” Sean told her.
“Yeah I know the drill… see you tomorrow at the church.” Nikki smiled but deep inside she hurt like hell. Zen moment

Thanks guys.... love your feedback... i hope you enjoy this...
Chapter 10
Helen was positive she had the right place. But it was strange that the club was so quiet and all in darkness. She stepped up to the doors and pushed one open so she could peer inside. She could see the casual glow of dimmed lights at the bar and a far table… but apart from that not a hint of a soul… at least not a live one. She shivered as the chilly air tipped her skin, sending the tiny hairs on her arms upwards. She rubbed her bare arms and wished she had worn something warmer… a tight fitting black sleeveless v-neck seemed inappropriate now. She thought she would be dancing the night away with the girls and getting thoroughly legless by midnight, but the signs were not looking good. She was about to turn around slip on her leather jacket and walk away when she heard someone call her name.
“Helen…you made it then.”
Helen turned back towards the door, tucked the black leather jacket under her arm and stepped inside the door… then she saw her and had to catch her breath…
“Nikki…”
Nikki was wearing an olive coloured silk shirt over black trousers and black shoes. The shirt was open at the neck exposing tanned skin. Her hair was fixed up and back… it had that just out of bed look that made her irresistible to most… and especially Helen!
“Hi…” Nikki smiled a little sheepishly as Helen stepped towards her.
The dim light of the club gave Nikki an almost ethereal look, the glow of the light on her tanned features made her look even more attractive to Helen’s naked eye.
“Hiya…” Helen paused for breath, “What you doing here?” Then she looked around at the empty club and asked, “And where is everyone else?”
“I sent them home.”
Helen felt her heart rate increase, what on earth was Nikki Wade up to now? “Nikki!”
Nikki stepped up to Helen and took her hand… the warmth of the touch and the way it made Helen feel inside shocked the Scot… such a simple thing, felt so erotic… Nikki’s breath was now against Helen’s cheek as they stood there… “I’m sorry Helen.” She said gently near Helen’s ear. Helen felt the goose pimples on her skin spring to life. “Nikki… what are you doing?” she asked rather weakly. Nikki stepped back a little but continued to hold Helen’s hand. Her brown eyes caressed Helen’s skin until they met Helen’s eyes… “I love you…” she replied simply. Helen’s heart could have cracked in half at the pain she was feeling for herself and for Nikki… and all she could say in response was, “I love you too.”
Helen waited and got her reward, a small smile from Nikki that grew delicately across her sexy face… “That’s why you’re here, I am here, and no one else… I need to say goodbye to you in private.” The smile faded and Nikki looked away.
Helen felt her heart breaking in two at the words Goodbye… “What do you mean?”
Nikki looked to Helen and frowned, “I’ve decided to move to the USA… San Francisco.”
“Why?” Helen’s sudden pained expression gave away every fibre of her being and how much it was hurting.
Nikki looked at Helen’s hurt eyes, her heart aching like hell, “Because if you hadn’t forgotten your marrying Sean tomorrow, and I cant stand it…” Nikki paused and looked away, God it hurt… then she looked back at Helen and tears pricked at her eyes, “To know your with him, in the same city, the same country, breathing the same air as me… and yet I cant have you.”
Helen felt every word cut through her life a knife… “But you can.” She replied hoping that Nikki would understand what she meant.
Nikki laughed bitterly, “No way Helen, I cant be with you, knowing your going home to him every night, sleeping in the same bed, having sex with him.”
Helen cringed at the very thought, “I didn’t mean that.”
Nikki looked confused and hurt that Helen would suggest such a situation.
Helen placed her hand to Nikki’s arm, “Look at me.” She told her.
Nikki reluctantly looked at the woman she loved more than life itself.
“I love you… I want to be with you.” Helen told her, tears in her eyes now, the thought of losing Nikki forever became too much.
“What do you mean?” Nikki’s brow creased in confusion.
“I mean, I can’t marry Sean tomorrow…” Helen confessed.
Nikki felt a great weight had been lifted, “Do you mean that?”
“I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life.” Helen replied confidently.
“But is that because of me or because he is a total idiot?” Nikki asked seriously.
Helen had a smile curling up on her lips, “Your right Sean can be a bit of an idiot, but he’s also a man don’t forget.”
Nikki smiled, “Little miss feminist.”
Helen laughed, “Yeah well…”
Then Nikki’s face turned serious again, “I don’t know what to say.”
“Say you want me… as much as I want you?” Helen said almost breathlessly, her nerves getting the better of her, she hadn’t even considered what would happen if Nikki didn’t want her.
Nikki took Helen in her arms and held her close then whispered the words Helen desperately wanted to hear, “Of course I want you, how could you even doubt that?”
Helen looked up at Nikki, “Your so gorgeous do you know that?”
Nikki looked to Helen’s hazel green eyes, “So are you.” She smiled.
Then their lips met in a gentle kiss, followed by a more probing kiss, followed by a frenzied hot kiss that nearly had them both off their feet.
When they broke apart for breath they both giggled.
“My God if that’s what happens when we kiss.” Helen spoke first.
“Mmm it makes you wonder doesn’t it?” Nikki said through sexy narrowed brown eyes full of want and desire.
“So what plans do we have for this evening?” Helen then asked. Finding that she needed to slow down a little.
“Well…” Nikki looked at the far table in the club with candles waiting to be lit, “I prepared a meal… desert, chilled some wine, warmed some red… I also have champagne in a bucket if you prefer. I wasn’t sure what you drank.”
“Anything.” Helen laughed, “So you cook too, I could easily get used to this you know. Sean couldn’t boil an egg.”
“Yeah well… he’s too busy planting them.” Nikki joked.
Helen laughed, “Not bad… so where do you want me?”
In my bed… immediately sprang to mind… “Over here.” Nikki said taking her lovers hand and leading her to the table that was prepared. “Take a seat.”
Helen sat down at the table and smiled up at Nikki, “What did you tell the girls?”
“I just told them the hen night was off…” Nikki replied as she lit the two red candles and placed an empty vase dead centre.
“What’s that for?” Helen asked.
Nikki tapped her nose, “Wait and see…” then she lent down for a kiss and Helen happily obliged.
“Mmm you taste nice, maybe we should skip the meal.” Helen said afterwards with a glint in her eyes.
“Plenty of time for afters Miss Stewart.” Nikki smiled then turned, “I’ll be right back, don’t go anywhere.”
“I don’t intend too.” Helen replied watching Nikki’s butt as it trailed off towards the bar. Zen moment

Thanks everyone.... heres a shorter chapter than usual. But Im really busy!!!! Hope you like it and I will try to have some more for you soon.
Chapter 11
“Helen… Helen!”
The persistent sound of a man’s voice broke into Helen’s dream… and as Nikki’s backside faded into the hazy distance, her eyes opened and that vision was replaced by the reality that was her fiancé, Sean Parr. He was standing over her, as she lay on the sofa in the living room resting, glaring down at her and shaking her awake by grabbing her arm.
“Sean…” she replied startled, “What time is it?”
He stood up straight and rearranged his blue and grey tie as he spoke, “Time you were getting ready for your girls night out.”
“Damn,” Helen got up quickly and frowned at her partner, “Why didn’t you wake me?”
“I just did.” He replied with a smile, “You are grumpy when you first wake up.” Satisfied that is tie was neat enough he looked to Helen and asked for her opinion on his stag night attire, “Do I look alright?”
Helen gave him a slight smile, “You look great…but…” she frowned a little as she took a closer look.
“But what?” Sean looked himself up and down with concern.
“That grey and blue tie doesn’t really go with that dark green shirt.” Helen couldn’t quite believe Sean’s use of colour, she just hoped that his wedding suit wasn’t anything like it.
“What?” Sean asked confused, “I think it looks fine.”
“Then why ask me?” Helen sighed and brushed past him. The man was impossible.
Sean watched her walk away from him and couldn’t for the life of him think what he had done wrong this time.
Nikki gave herself one last look in the mirror. Her black Armani shirt unbuttoned by a few at the top to reveal her slightly tanned neck, black trousers that were part of her black Armani suit… and dark tousled hair reflected back at her.
She looked at the watch on her left wrist, it was time to go and she was dreading it. Nikki took out her mobile phone, flipped it open and dialled the number of a cab service she always used in the city… 15 minutes later she was on her way to Helen’s pre-wedding party at a very well known straight club that had been hired for the evening. Nikki yawned at the very thought of it but decided the best way to get through tonight would be partially legless. In fact, it was the only way she was going to survive in a club full of straight women.
When she arrived the party was already in full swing. She walked into the club and through a mass of women dancing until she reached the bar. Then she waited to be served. Suddenly she was very hot and very thirtsy.
“Hiya Nikki.”
Nikki recognised that voice, the alluring Scottish tones. She turned around to see Helen standing behind her with a drink of what looked like beer in her hand, a whole pint in fact…
“Oh hi.”
“You want one?” Helen asked, noticing that Nikki was staring at her pint of lager.
“Yeah why not.” Nikki let out a breath and smiled. Helen looked absolutely gorgeous… and Nikki was finding it hard already to concentrate on her words.
Helen then frowned at Nikki, “What are you doing here anyway?”
“Your boyfriend told me to keep an eye on you.” Nikki replied gleefully.
Nikki didn’t need to be told that Helen was horrified… the look in those green eyes gave it away, “He did what?”
“Helen why are you marrying that idiot?” Nikki frowned back at her as she handed a pint by the barmaid…. She smiled at her and said thanks then looked back at Helen beside her.
“He’s not an idiot, we’ve been together a while, he wants to make an honest woman out of me.” Helen replied then sipped at her pint.
Nikki suppressed a laugh, “Honest?”
“Yes honest!” Helen replied a little annoyed at Nikki’s tone of amusement…”Look Nikki, I wont tell you again… I am straight and I am marrying Sean tomorrow.”
“Ah…” Nikki smiled softly and then said quietly, “But are you in love with him?”
Helen looked nervous and anxious to get away, “I have to go… Claire will wonder where I have got too…”
Nikki turned to watch Helen walk away across the dance floor and mumbled to herself, “Walking away for the truth again…”
Just then, and very aptly timed, Nikki’s mobile began to ring and vibrate in her trouser pocket, quickly she answered it, it was Sean… “Sean, she’s fine, having a laugh with her mates… nothing to worry or concern yourself with.”
Their was a pause as Sean talked and talked, “No there aren’t any strippers, thank god!” another pause followed and Nikki heard loud cheering coming from the crowd of women who were now congregating around a far stage area, Helen seemed to be the centre of attention tonight and was being brought up on stage… Nikki tried to see what was going on but couldn’t see very clearly, women kept blocking her view, as they whistled and screamed. Then she answered Sean, “Screams? I don’t know… they’re a bit excitable, you know what women are like when they get together…” Just then Nikki’s eyes grew wide as she realised what was going on, there was a male stripper on stage wearing a loin cloth…”Look Sean I have to go….” He tried to keep her on the line but Nikki shut the phone off and watched in amazement at the women going absolutely crazy, while Helen was being treated to an eyeful… or was that tortured, Nikki thought to herself as she looked away and ordered herself something stronger.

Thankyou!
Heres another short chapter....
Chapter 12
When the noise died down Nikki could see Helen making her way across the dance floor towards her. Nikki downed her Malibu and coke in one and placed the empty glass down on the bar, then waited for Helen to approach her.
“Your still here then?” Helen said as she stepped up beside Nikki at the bar.
Nikki couldn’t help but feel hurt, but could understand Helen’s reaction to her, knowing she was basically a spy for Sean… “Do you want me to leave?”
Helen felt her stomach turn over at the very thought of Nikki leaving, she pursed her lips and lowered her eyes, “No.” she replied.
Nikki turned towards the bar, “Can I get you a drink?”
“Vodka… straight.” Helen replied as she lent on the bar.
“Straight.” Nikki replied with amusement.
“What?” Helen looked to Nikki and frowned.
Nikki looked at Helen, those green eyes gazing back at her questioning what she had said… “Nothing…” she replied quietly.
Helen looked up at Nikki’s deep brown eyes, then gathered all her strength to take a good look at the rest of the package, the hair, so dark… that curled at the neck, and the tanned neckline that was showing in the opening of Nikki’s designer shirt…
“You okay?” Nikki noticed Helen was staring at her.
Helen’s eyes met Nikki’s eyes and she smiled nervously, “Yes why?”
“You seemed miles away.” Nikki commented as she handed Helen her vodka.
Helen took it and sank it back in one.
“Bloody hell…” Nikki gasped at Helen.
“What?” Helen frowned, “I was thirsty, it’s hot on that stage.”
“It looked pretty cold from here.” Nikki replied.
Helen just looked at Nikki, “I’m sorry.”
“What for?”
“For… I don’t know what for… for Sean, he shouldn’t have asked you to watch me like that.” Helen’s eyebrows knotted, that seriously did disturb her, that her future husband would do something like that.
“He wouldn’t have asked me if he knew how I felt about you.” Nikki said looking Helen directly in the eyes.
“How do you feel about me?” Helen dared to ask, not sure she wanted to know the answer.
“You don’t want to know the answer to that.” Nikki smiled a little, but deep down it was torture for her to be there tonight watching Helen party the night away with her friends, a party to celebrate her wedding day being less than 24 hours away.
“Nikki…. I…” Helen began to speak.
“Hey there you are, we thought we had lost you to the stripper.” Claire lent her head over Helen’s shoulder and grinned. Then she noticed the dark haired stranger beside Helen, “Who’s your friend?”
Helen turned to Claire and then introduced her to Nikki, “This is Nikki Wade, our wedding planner.” She paused and then told Nikki, “Nikki, this is my best friend Claire Walker.”
Nikki said hi and noticed someone else behind Claire, someone who was definitely giving her the eye… “And who are you?” Nikki asked with an interested smile.
Helen and Claire looked to where Nikki was looking and saw a work colleague of Claire’s, who was smiling back at Nikki with a sudden glow in her blue eyes.
“Hi, I’m Caroline Lewis… a friend of Claire’s.” she budged past Claire and Helen and reached out to shake Nikki’s forthcoming hand.
“Nice to meet you Caroline, would you like to dance?” Nikki asked with a smile.
“I’d love to.” Caroline replied, eyes only for Nikki… she took Nikki’s hand and they both walked off to the dance floor.
Claire watched them leave in amazement of what a quick mover Caroline was, and just as she was about to say something to Helen she was stopped by the look of horror on Helen’s face… “Helen are you okay?”
“No!” Helen replied immediately not thinking. Then she looked away from the dance floor and turned to the bar, “I need a drink.”
Claire looked at her friend, she hadn’t seen her so… upset before, “Helen is there something I should know?”
Helen looked at her friend and frowned, “Like what?”
“You and Nikki, you look awfully upset by her taking off with Caroline.”
“It bothers me.” Helen replied annoyed.
Claire put her hand on Helen’s arm, “Why should it bother you?” she was confused.
Helen didn’t want to talk about it and went quiet.
“Helen talk to me, what is going on here?” Claire demanded to know.
Meanwhile Caroline was enjoying her dance with the gorgeous stranger, “Hey your not bad at this.” She commented to Nikki’s ear and then looked to her eyes and smiled.
“Thanks.” Nikki replied gazing over Caroline’s shoulder in Helen’s direction.
“So you planned the wedding eh?” Caroline was curious about this woman, she wanted to know what she did, or more importantly who she did.
“Yeah, that’s right.” Nikki smiled back and then frowned as she noticed Helen walking off with Claire.
“So is it just straight weddings?” Caroline asked.
“No… I sometimes get calls to do Lesbian and Gay ceremonies… why are you so interested anyway?” Nikki smiled a little and then teased, “Will you be requiring my services?”
“Maybe.” Caroline replied teasing her back.
“Well I’ll have to give you my card.” Nikki replied as Helen and Claire disappeared behind the bar and into the back room.
