Well, let's hope the next time she's *that* much luckier!

Or this one, I love the look she gives him while delivering that wonderful line!

Well, not easy for me to answer, I've only watched series 1 and 2. Anyway... let's go!

series 1?
"sit in that chair!" (I also love it when she's bossy)
"when are you gonna grow up and stop this macho crap?!"
"I've never been interested in women" (...sure...)
"Even if I were attracted to you, which I'm not..." (...sure I said...)

series 2?
first of all, ep 2 is one of my favorites, even if my favorite quotes from it are Nikki's ones. Anyway...
" I let my emotions cloud my professional judgment" (excuse my poor vocabulary and some misunderstandings but I'm French and my English is not that good I'm afraid )
"well I'm not your jailer anymore, which means I can do this" (that look she has when she says this... it seems she only came for this kiss... argh)
and there's also "oh what a night", it drove me totally crazy I must say.
"you're amazing"
"I love you Nikki"
"I want you"
and also
"I've missed you Nikki"
"Stop been jealous"

I'm sure I've forgotten many...

Can't wait to receive series 3 (ordered it on Monday, will be delivered soon I guess... I hope!)

My personal favorite is when Nikki starts screaming in her cell and Helen tells her to get out NOW!!!!!!

I think if I were Babs, I would have jumped horrified.

I love the line where she whispers "Oh Nicola" and the part where she says "I want you" to Nikki before they really do the "Wild Thing". In Mandana Land

When I think about the last episode of Season 2 "Oh What A Night." was there a "warning" about sexually explicit scenes from the announcer?

The reason why I ask this was because on All My Children in the US, there was a warning about "The Kiss". In fact, it was considered so controversial for Daytime, that it got national press coverage. In Mandana Land

Favourite Helen Quotes
Ha, on Bad Girls on Showcase, there's a "Contains scenes of violence, Viewer Discretion advised" warning but that's it. There's no mention of sexual content in any way, shape or form. (Of course, it is Showcase.) Now the really hysterical part is on BBCCanada, there is a "Mature Subject Matter" warning for Monarch of the Glen. I've never seen a more inoffensive show. Everytime I hear the warning, I get the giggles and start coming up with scenarios to warrant such an advisory. Will Isobel kiss Jessie? Will Golly jump Molly's bones? Will Paul end up in bed with Lexie and Archie cut his throat? But alas, nothing untoward has ever happened on that show. It makes me wonder who comes up with these things.

My favorite Helen quote (just to keep with the topic) is from Series 2, Ep 16.

"Nikki, I'm an employee of the Home Office, have you any idea?"

I mean, it's just so panicked and so out of control for her, that it cracks me up everytime I hear it. Obviously, if Nikki gave the slightest damn about her job, she wouldn't have escaped, let alone gone to Helen's place, so for Helen to keep throwing it up as a point of argument is hysterical. I also like.

"You're completely mad."

What's great is that Nikki's so calm at that point, and Helen's just completely off the beam. The control in their relationship has completely switched at that point. Of course, Helen starts getting it back midway through their clinch and she starts ripping Nikki's nurse's uniform off. In Mandana Land

I'm a Canadian too and although I get showcase, I don't get BBC unless I have a subscription which I don't. The people of Europe are so lucky, they don't have any problems with a Sexual Content.

Oh, I saw some clips of Simone as Isobel on MOTG with the actor that plays Paul and the one where she sees Paul & Lexie warming up at the fire during a rainstorm.

Paul is so adorable and when I heard about how "Golly" got his name, I almost fell out laughing myself. In Mandana Land

I think there may well have been a warning before the programme actually. I can't remember for sure - anyone else? I am not sure if it was a dual warning for violence considering what Shell Dockley gets up to with a bottle at the end of the episode.

They would probably say "Bad Girls contains adult scenes" or something like that. I think they did... but it was a few years ago now!

There is quite a bit of lesbianism on British TV these days and certainly people are a lot less fussed about it than they used to be. It was the kiss between Shell and Denny early on in Bad Girls series 1 (I think the one they share in front of Crystal when they are trying to shock her?) that got a lot of publicity at the time, as well as the scene where poor unfortunate Zandra is "decrutched"!! Mention of these was in the press as Bad Girls was being portrayed as racy, daring, ground-breaking and thought-provoking when it first started. I think "The Sun" had a picture of the Denny-Shell kiss and thought it was shocking...! Shared Cell

I don't know about a favourite, most of them have been mentioned already. I do love the "Jesus Christ!" as she pulls her hand away from Nikki's breast though.

And of course, "when are you gonna grow up and stop all this macho crap?" Also, the famous "Nikki, what the fff?!?"

"I said sit down!" is great. It always throws me into fits of giggles because we have an old Scottish lady who is a relieving teacher at our school and she says this all the time in exactly the same way as Helen. It's her catch-phrase and some people have got very good at mimiking it. I look at her sometimes and wonder if Simone will be just like her in 30 years. Do not annoy the unmedicated

"I told Dominic about my feelings. You told a prisoner I broke the bloody law!"

I like this quote, because Helen is panicking about having broken the law and the consequences if she find out - not that I want her character to suffer, of course! - but simply because she catches a glimpse of being on the other side of things. I don't think she has ever seen herself as someone who would break the law - perhaps the speed limit slightly or get a friend to copy a CD for her but not something like harbouring an escaped prisoner and sleeping with her!! "You better stop thinking that I'm so fickle about how I feel about you."

This one comes up in series 2, ep.12, when Nikki apologises to Helen, over their first argument about Dominic.
The way this line rolls off Helen's toungue and how thick her accent becomes when she's angry, so sexy. You can really see how much she does love Nikki and the look she gives her, when she's finished, god she's gorgeous. Basic

Mind you, I and many other fans have ended up at work the following day extremely bleary eyed having only got a few hours sleep after sitting up and discussing these two for hours or watching the videos (initially) and later on the DVD's in marathon sessions!

An hour after school. I used to get in a bit of trouble when I was younger because if I thought something was unfair, I would always challange it. I still do, but have learnt to be more diplomatic. I think. Maybe it's because I'm actually quite good friends with a lot of my teachers now and they know me, they know that I'm not being defiant or disrespectful.

I did do stupid things aswell though, I definately deserved the 3 days I was stood down (suspended) in 3rd form. Good thing I'm a good girl now.

And ILMJN, I also end up at school bleary eyed. Hell, the day I worked in parliament with the youngest MP for work experience, he was all bleary eyed from watching the West Wing on dvd all night. So everybody does it! Do not annoy the unmedicated

West Wing though... borrrrrring!!! I'd rather be asleep

Throughout my teenage years I would regularly watch lesbian-themed TV shows or films I had managed to acquire late into the night, depriving myself of sleep Rolling Eyes :D

I like many that have already been posted, but I also like how Helen delivers this line "your cell, now" when she comes to tell Nikki about the other woman Gossard raped and how this will help her appeal. The look on Helen's face when she says it, is too damn adorable or is it the accent?

Do you remember the scene in Helen's office with Claire and Nikki comes in to find out her appeal has been granted? Claire leaves and Helen and Nikki sit down and Nikki says something like "ya" and Helen says "no I'm sorry, no we if ya, a big bloody yes" and grabs Nikki's arm (right before stupid Thomas walks in and breaks it up just when it was getting good)

I think I like her expressions as much as some of her classic lines, just the looks she gives Nikki at times, like when they bumped into each other in the servery line and Helen says something about finishing MIddle March, the look Helen gives her, again too damn adorable. Sophies World reader

I've been watching the first few episodes of series 2 and I just love it when Helen says:

"I don't like it. I don't like it one bit!"

When Helen is talking to Stubberfield after suspending Fenner. I just love the way Helen says it, and it's great to see her finally stand up to the top brass and lose her temper. :) Basic

Helen had terrific lines throughout the series but I must admit my favorite was Series 3 final episode "Coming Out"

Nicki: We'll take things slowly.

Helen: Yeah, dead slow (one can read alot into that!)

Then after they kiss Helen or I should say Simone says "Mandana" then they smile and move up against the wall.

It must have been a very close relationship between these two actors and they gave a marvelous performance. Knowing that they did their last scenes adlib shows how well they knew and understood the relationship between Nicki and Helen.

I miss them. Crying or Very sad In strips

Having now watched all 3 series, I have to say I quite like:

"Oh it will happen, Jim, if I want it to".

Or something like that, when Jim finds out about her plans to turn G-Wing into a lifers unit.

And like somebody else mentioned, I just love the whole conversation between Fiona and Helen...it's classic. Especially when you see Nikki's reaction in the background. Basic

Never thought of just Helen scenes, I have it edited down to all Nikki and Helen scenes (regardless of who else is in the scene) and then edited down to scenes with only Nikki and Helen. New project maybe, but first got to figure out the music video thing I'm trying to work on.

trying to find quotes.
hi all BG fans

im new to this board so i have no idea how things work, but im reading thru this section [haha, ive been reading the msg boards for nearly 5 hours... its 1:45am here in western australia!] and i jus wanted to know if anyone can tell me where abouts helen says to nikki "i want you" [cos i swear i cannot hear it] and which series does she say "oh nicola". i hear its definetly at the end of "coming out" [which i havent seen... we're only up to the 4th ep of series 3 on pay tv here] but there is some debate over this. oh, and if anyone could tell me when shell tells nikki that 'she must be shagging the governor' after being moved onto the 3's would be good too!

help would be appreciated and its soooo great to meet ppl as addicted as i am!!

oh, and my fave helen quotes would defintely be "Nikki, what the ffff!"
and jus before she slams the door on nikki's face, in the thickest accent lamenting "Noooo, noooo!" In strips

Right... I can help you with a couple...

"I want you" - Helen says that in the DELETED SCENE - from "Oh what a night!" when Nikki and Helen are on the sofa kissing. Helen breathes "I want you" Its very very sexy.

Okay next... "Oh Nicola" - Helen says this to Nikki in the episode "Oh what a night!" Final ep of series 2.
Its when Nikki goes to Helen's flat and says to her, "Tell me you love me"
Helen then says breathlessly... "Oh Nicola" before falling under Nikki's spell.

We know that Helen says "Oh Nicola" because after much debate on various messageboards about did she or didnt she... we actually asked Mandana. Mandana confirmed to us that Helen does indeed says the words, "Oh Nicola."

So there you go... 8) In Mandana Land

Hi mjnet you say in your post that you asked Mandana? Oh my did you get to meet her? and if so was she as nice as she seems in the interveiws.
She seems a little more serious than Simone which is part of what attracts me to her, as well as everything else about her phew what a woman.

Dont get me wrong I also think Simone is stunning, and she seems also to have a bloody wicked sense of humour. But im never sure if she is being serious or not.
But to my mind and who the hell am I, Mandana seems in the interviews to be a slightly more serious soul. I think ill quit while im ahead I cant seem to explain what I mean properly.

Yes we did meet her, (me and ILMJN plus lots of others) when she toured in a production of Othello in 2003... you can see the reviews, the photos etc here http://www.mandanajones.net/othello.html

And yes she is serious/thoughtful but also has the most wicked sense of humour. She was lovely and met everyone and signed stuff happily when she had the time between getting her hair straightened and helping out the drama students!!

It wasnt an easy run though - we saw her at harrogate - the last leg of the tour - all the cast had suffered from bugs and colds, Mandana wasnt great herself... then one of the cast lost his voice and he couldnt perform for one night! Then Mandana;s friend joined her on the friday and was sick too!! But through all that - oh and she had a bad bed and breakfast to stay in and had to move the next day!! - anyway, through all this, we enjoyed it. haha Laughing In Mandana Land

As OBSSESSED as I am with Helen and Nikki, only after MJNET pinpointing where Helen says: "Oh Nicola" did I pick it up. All this time I just thought she was sighing breathlessly. Duh. I thought she said it in the "Coming Out" episode as well, but could never make it out. Although this lapse could very well be attributed to the fact that every time Simone is in a scene my hearing goes out the window and my vision reaches it peaks. But I digress......

Oh indeed what a hardship!!! I went back last evening and played it over, and over, and over, now that I know what she is saying. And as I posted earlier, it just makes that scene JUST that much more sensual and special. That and the scene right after where Helen says: "It's alright sweetheart, I'm here", and the looks that transpire between them at that moment never fail to get to me.

Favourite-line wise, I agree with all the popular mentions, especially "What the f..." and "Not, historically, a great excuse..." Classic!

I also really like it in 'Oh, What a night!' when she half-heartedly pushes Nikki away saying, "No Nikki, this is not the way".

Hey - it's helping me to perfect a Scottish accent is this new obsession!

Darn shame about you having to watch series 2 all over again. LOL
But i know for me, everytime I watch the 3 series ( And the times have been numerous I might add) I always come away with an even greater appreciation, and insight than before. Enhanced with privileges

LOL about the Scottish Accent.
To my vocabulary I always say now with a Scottish lilt: "look, I betta' go," Hiya", "I suppose," "Doown", "Doon't", "Ya know" " I don't like it, I don't like it one bit", and a few other little catch phrases here and there .
I am truly channeling Helen Stewart. Even have the tongue and teeth thing perfected.

I love MJNet PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 6:45 pm

Oh nicola
It was ages before I heard Oh nicola - and purely by chance.

I then got MJN to listen with a friend who was staying - Speakers hooked up from the Hi Fi in 3d surround sound - turned right up. Its as well we only had 2 lots of neighbours close by! Gave the cattle in the field next door a shock though!

But, they agreed it was "Oh Nicola" I had heard - and then we were fortunate enough that Mandana told us it was (because it caused all kinds of debates with those who said it wasn't uttered at all against those of us who said it was). lol Zen moment

Just One Word
After watching the entire Helen/Nikki story I can honestly say that there is one word that Helen can say that can invoke emotion. And that is the way she says: "Nikki". We were talking about Scottish accents at work today, one of the women I work with is from Glasgow and another's daughter has a boyfriend from Glasgow. I said "I love Scottish accents!" The 2nd woman goes "yeah, his accent is gorgeous."

I nearly said "oh, I prefer it on women." I just stopped myself. Embarassed Do not annoy the unmedicated

Well, you let me know when you are ready to apply to NYU. Ya know we have something in this country called "affirmative action" which basically means that schools have to have a certain amount of minorities in their programs. Sadly, one of the things that you will find should you move here is that there is no such thing as spare rooms...real estate is at a premium. I live in a studio apartment so how tiny are scottish birds? BTW if you need any info on NYC just send me a message on the personal email.

lol Dont tease me Janet when im stuck in dull, rainy London lol :)

Real Estate in NY is as bad as here in London. When i was looking at appartments in April they were none cheaper than $1000 a month. (Which i suppose is not soooo bad if you were working). So even if you have a little tiny cupboard, or a wee patch of floor space ill squeeze into it. Just think, you could shut your eyes and think you were living with Simone lol G3 landing

Londons a great place. Have you ever been over here?

I live in Covent Garden, which is right in the centre, so things are always buzzing. But i dont think it would be so great long term. London can be a lonely place at times.

I love Ny though. I toured the east coast in 2000 and just fell in love with the place. Its got an atmosphere thats indesribable.

London is great. I have been there several times most recently this past August. But I think my next trip across the pond will have to include some sort of side trip to Scotland. I will bring along some of my favorite Helen quotes and approach strange unsuspecting women on the street to ask for a recitation. Hopefully I won't be slapped or arrested as a nutter. Does anyone else giggle in the middle of the very distressing scene in the first ep of season 3, when Helen is asking Nikki what she has told Babs?

Not as much as I do when she shouts out in "Oh What A Night", "I'm an Employee of the Home Office"!!! Now that's funny. I ROFL EVERY time I hear that one! Only Helen would be thinking about her job description at a time like that! I wouldn't have remembered my name let alone what I did for a living! Enhanced with privileges

Did you know that my friends and I actually say rofl out load? Roffle. And lol rhymes with roll. Yes, we are the geeks. It started with the guys in the back row:

Now we all do it.

To quote someone on my other board: "I could beat up any of the guys in the back row and steal their girlfriends." But he wouldn't beat them at warcraft or physics. Laughing Do not annoy the unmedicated

Actually I always find that line very sexy (OK I know, I know, what utterance do I not find sexy coming from our Helen). That line though always makes my mind wander to the fact that Helen isn't just catching up on reading in bed alone at night. <g> Enhanced

Helen me too!!!! that cracks me up too!!! i do also find the bit where helen says 'i just imagined u in bed, on your own' sexy, it says to me that Helen is thinking of nikki being in bed!!! :D

and while im on that subject i love the bit where Helen says to Nikki that she will read her love letter in bed later!! that is sooooo cute, brings tears to my eyes. i love the exchange between them when Karen is in the room.

In agreement with Janet, is there ANY thing that Helen uttered or did for that matter that we didn't find sexy?

Yes, that is a very sweet moment. Also the times when she holds Nikki's sad face up and says "what's the matter". So sweet, soft, nuturing, and loving...doesn't matter that she is the one driving Nikki insane. Enhanced

Okay I know these moments don't include Nikki and so are probably not high on anyones list, but I love it when Helen says Bastard or Shit after dealing with Fenner on many occassions. For some reason it makes me smile. :D Sophies World reader

Yep, those are fun. Actually my favorite scene, okay, maybe not my favorite, but way up there on the list is not a Nikki/Helen scene at all but the one where Helen is putting Monica to bed. If I hadn't already fallen for the lovely Helen, I surely would have then. Enhanced

Believe me, if I found the way she said: "Murder" breathtaking, Shit and Bastard couldn't be too far behind!!!!

And not to be forgotten is the way she says: "Baby". It was a scene with Sean, but she pronounces it: "Bay-Bee" and it is just flooring. It's the scene where Sean is coming home from work and she is in the bathroom toweling her hair dry and wearing that black tee! <swoon> Enhanced with privileges

No need to explain the scene, sad to say (no not sad at all) I knew the scene before you described it. It is very nice the way she says it, it just sucks that she wasted it on Sean. Sophies World reader

You're right better yet saying it to us (or me to be more specific :D )
It's nice to have someone to day dream about, I will admit that some of my friends are trying to get the accent down in an attempt to get me to pay more attention to them, but they are failing terribly, they can't get their heads around the difference between the british accent and the Helen I mean scottish accent Laughing Sophies World reader

Okay you're right I should share, but it's so hard when it comes to Helen.

I don't know if I have good friends, or they're trying to get it on with me, but either way I guess it's sweet.

Now is "get it on with me" a saying I used before Bad Girls? I don't think so, it's weird how some of the language is becoming my own. Sophies World reader

A look from Helen
It's not a helen quote but a look in s1ep5 when Nikki tells Helen she has dumped Trish,
it pans to Helen and Helen pauses, I love the look in her eye when she pauses, I think
that changes how Helen feels about Nikki at that point, and she softens up and asks her
how long they had been together, I could re-watch that loads of times. It's like when you
like someone and you don't know if they are available or not and as soon as u find out they
are single you can let your emotions have more free reign, but maybe i'm just over analysing!
But that whole scene is very important!

Love this thread have spent last 45 mins reading it! lol And think I'll stick my headphone into
computer and try and hear "oh nicola" myself...

Didn't Helen already know that Trish dumped Nikki by that point, didn't Monica tell her earlier? I always thought that look was more surprise that Nikki would say she dumped Trish instead of the other way around. Talk about over analysing?? No need to bow, I probably remember so well because of the great look of Helen as she turns when Monica stops her. I think it's episode 4 of series 1. Sophies World reader

This is the way I do it - I'm not saying it's the only way or the easiest, but I'm new to all of this, I only started becoming a computer geek in March when I came across Bad Girls and the obsession began.

To answer your question, I import the DVD's into a software program called ULead and when the DVD's play after importing them there's a pause button and a "save as image" button, hence the still shot is saved. Sophies World reader

ah, u need software, makes sense, i may look into this further!

btw the quote i always imitate coz it makes me and my gf laugh so much is in "oh what a night"
when helen says " i'm an employee of the home office" - and her accent goes very scottish - that
always crack
