An issue has come to light on the board, so we want to remind ALL posters about Plagiarism.
Plagiarism refers to the use of another's implementation of ideas, information, language, or writing, when done without proper acknowledgment of the original source. Essential to an act of plagiarism is an element of dishonesty in attempting to pass off the plagiarized work as original. Plagiarism is not necessarily the same as copyright infringement, which occurs when one violates copyright law.
Sometimes without thought, you do pick up and use something you read elsewhere.
It isn't perfect but generally accepted that you can end up paraphrasing something else without knowing you have.
However, to deliberately paraphrase or deliberately post anothers work or words is not acceptable.
So please, think before you post and acknowledge if you know it isn't your work (even if the author or source is unknown).
Thanks.
