Man, that took WAY too long. Une question: Comment fait-on les accents? I copied them and pasted them from other posts/websites, but is there another way?
Washuai - April 27, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
I copy & paste or don't bother with the accents, myself.
American systems just aren't set up for it.
Basically, ALT + the # pad is one method & I think the most common method ><.
Another method is to bring up an onscreen menu of characters to mouse in, using windows, I think.
You can change your keyboard's language settings. I do this, when I want to type in hiragana and katagana, but it is really hard, because you can't see what they are, or know what they are. I suppose, I could memorize them if I was crazy ambitious. A lot less to memorize for French, so wouldn't be as evil.
Another involves getting a special keyboard. I know I've seen Spanish keyboards.

Does that mean copy and paste? Man, those tech-y words are the trickiest! I know télécharger means to download....
I've actually tried to type English on a French keyboard, when I was in Paris, and it was a NIGHTMARE. Q, W, A, that whole section of the keyboard is totally different, which I guess makes sense given that they use Q a whole lot, and we hardly ever do. But it's like I have to re-wire my brain just to type!
Washuai - April 27, 2007 05:43 PM (GMT)
Yes, it means copy and paste.
Well, I haven't rushed out and bought a french keyboard, that's for sure, lol. It does't intimidate me, since I generally have to learn new layouts for different games, although, always fewer keys or controller buttons. A new keyboard layout would slow me down, on typing, big time. Just transitioning between different American keyboards, slows me down. I use virtually indestructable keyboards, which have a different key spacing than my laptop, & conventional keyboards.
