Hello everyone,
As you all know we try to keep stuff to a minimum on what we like on the board.
However we noticed a couple of issues cropping up - and thought we should address them because its something that is often a mistake by message board users. I would like to stress this isn't a dig at any user or poster, merely that we have noticed somethings that will need addressing by us as board admin.
Okay, the first.
When posting a picture.
While we have absolutely no problem with pictures being posted - we have noticed that two problems have come up.
First of all - please try and keep the picture you are posting to a reasonable size. The largest as avarage would be around 600 pixels by 400 pixels.
If you don't know how to check a picture size this is about 500 by 300.

If your picture is obviously larger than this and you don't know how to resize it - please don't put it in a post. You can get around this easily by just putting a straight forward URL link in instead. This will allow people to click on it and see the image that way.
Secondly with images - Please try to avoid too many in one post. It clogs up a page and also makes it almost impossible for users who have slower internet connections to view that post.
We recommend that no more than 2 or 3 pictures a post are included. This doesn't mean you can only post once and thats it - Just split the posts up instead of putting them all in one post.
Now the other point that has been raised is the excessive use of the quote button.
Again, it is fine to use, but in moderation and often posters find it hard when reading a thread to view a reply or comment by someone that has about 5 or 6 different quotes embedded through it.
When you hit the quote feature, you can delete out some of the earlier stuff - so long as you have the first and last part of the [ quote name ] and [ / quote ] in - which will be found at the beginning and end of the quoted section, you will get that persons quote in without all the other quotes as well.
It might seem strange, but this is an annoying habit for many users of a board - and we do appreciate - as do others - that often it is difficult to understand and get to know board etiquette.
If anyone has any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to PM me or MJN and we will always try and reply as soon as we can.
I would stress again, this isn't a complaint at anyone user, merely guidelines we have noticed need to be put into place - and we will ask moderators and we ourselves will also go into threads for persistant use of large images or quotes to edit them to a more acceptable level once some time has gone through to allow users time enough to get used to using this system we are asking for.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this and for your co-operation.
Sara and Jayne
