love her always have from the day she came into it in series 7

I've always loved Pat as well, I think she's gonna be great this series as well. She's already won over Lou so she's gonna be one of those characters that the inmates and screws alike respect. She's a true topdog.

Lezli - July 27, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
Pat is fantastic. She completely deserves the admiration she gets from both the Cons and the Screws.

I agree, like i said before;

Pat Kerrigan = A true topdog! Similar to Nikki and Yvonne.

Lezli - July 27, 2006 05:44 PM (GMT)
Pat has that edge that will keep her top dog.

She's there for those who need her, but will not tolerate those who use other's for there own advantages e.g Natalie.

She seems to really stick to her first impressions too, like with hating Natalie, and respecting Lou.

I think she's learnt a lot since her past boyfriend... bastard

Possibly that not everyone is what they seem?

Where's Sheena?

I heard that Laura Rogers didn't want to come back.

I hope she and Pat didn't break up, I'd feel really bad.

Do you want an answer to that question? Because I can answer it, but it would spoil you if you haven't watched S8. Which I suppose is ok, given that this is the character spoiler thread, but I wanted to check first....

Please Tell Me.

I am a Canadian and I only got as far as Series 4.

abzug - September 9, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
Sheena got freed from the false drug charges. She stood Pat up three times in a row on visiting day. Always with the excuse of having to take care of her son. The third stand up was shown in the fifth ep of S8. Pat was very very depressed. So not a break up so much as a demise....

i agree Pat Karigan is awsome and Liz may Brice portrays her so well i agree that no one can replace Nikki Wade she is number 1 in my eyes and always has been and always will be but i do think that Pat is a close 2nd.

Great pic of Liz, we don't see her looking very feminine very often.

i realize i'm a bit late in the game here, but i just love what a schemer pat is! she works these elaborate plans all the time. it's such fun to watch. perhaps my favorite lines:

pat: scream.
tina: what?
pat: scream.
tina: ahh!
pat: a rat! ah!

so freakin' hilarious! ha!

I think why they pulled back in season 8 was because they were making another Nikki out of Pat and they didn't really know where to go with her. They wanted her to be a tough softy but they had alredy done that with Yvonne and Nikki.

I think they were starting to get the same charachters and after they realized that they needed to think on what to do.

I must say that with just another season Pat really could have been someone that everybody loved to watch. She really had potential to be a huge favorite but they just did not develop her enough. She had so many internal scars that it would have been good to really get to know her.

I brought this over from the Season 4 thread. I think you're right that Pat is in the same vein as Nikki and Yvonne, namely a relatively ethical prisoner who has a lot of power and is concerned about the experiences of the people around her. But Pat had a few things that I thought made her wonderfully different from Yvonne and Nikki.
1. She didn't care about other people in general, or about getting close to any of them. She just could not stand watching anyone be abused or bullied. But it didn't go further than that, to a kind of nurturing, the way it did with Yvonne and Nikki.
2. She wasn't interested in getting out of prison. She figured she was going to be there a long time, and she never seemed particularly angry or upset about that. I never once watched her do something in an effort to get out sooner.

These two differences combined to create a really fascinating mix, with Pat's deep-seated intimacy issues, her lack of interest in romance or love, and the challenges she faced with Sheena, all of which were really different than Yvonne or Nikki. I just wish that Sheena had stayed on the show, or that they had given her a new love interest, because without it, she was just one-note: revenge-against-Natalie, and nothing more.

Xenaclark - May 11, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
See that is one thing I loved about Pat. She knew she was there for a while and she knew that for it to be easy on her it needed to be easier on the people arround her. She didn't want to be top dog but if she was going to be top dog it was so the pound ran smoothly and that none of the bigger dogs were picking on the smaller dogs.

It was almost as if she was trying to run her own little prison better the then the prision guards. she knew what heads to chop off. I think if Natalie had not been a nonce then she would have glady let her go just to get her out of her hair, but she could not sit back and let someone like her back on the streets.

She just wanted a relaxed environment even if that meant she had to be tough to do it.

I still want to know how Pat managed to afford those NewRock boots. They're bloody expensive!

In other news.. I love Liz May Brice. I have written to her twice, once with a drawing, and she responded to both!

Lisa289 - July 4, 2007 09:57 PM (GMT)
Those boots are awesome. Maybe she inherited a lot of money when she killed her fella

Lezli - July 5, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
Ah well, she scrubs up nicely ;) Haha.

Don't know if this was mentioned elsewhere, but LMB was in the first episode of The Hustle, a lite UK show about grifters. She plays a cop & has a fair amount of screentime.
