Lou Stoke - Well I've been an Amanda Donohoe fan for years, and despite reading somewhere else, had completely forgotten she was going to be in the series.
So it was a nice shock and reminder when I did see her.

Like series 6, I felt that again we had a good strong character coming in - with obvious weakness (Joy mentions that she couldn't afford to be picky hinting at a troubled past).

I would also love to know if we get to see more about her past with Neil, even though he isn't there anymore. It would be a shame the hint was there she knew him (loved the line about him still doing coke and Joy's face).

I would love that too, I thought we may have seen more about how they met and stuff. Like when Karen first came and she already knew Jim, we later realised they previously had a relationship. But the chances of a bigger insight into Lou and Neil's knowledge of each other looks a bit slim now.

Couldn't agree more. I suppose the only way it might come out is if there is a storyline that "reflects" the friendship Lou and Neil shared at one time.
If it is true about Lou's sexuality, it might be through that we gain the insight - a common bond there perhaps?

Common bond indeed......maybe. I think it is a strong possibility that Lou's a lesbian, but can't be 100% sure at this point.

I've always loved Amanda Donohoe....what a great introduction for her new character. I think that she's either lesbian or bisexual....I don't know of many str8 women who go to strip clubs by themselves. :o

I'm sure there's got to be some reason for the bits of dialogue between Neil and Lou.... setting up some sort of reveal about her character? Or could it simply be that she knows him from the community...which added to her first scene says in a not so explicit way "she's gay" ?

Helen&Nikki4ever - July 16, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
I think she's hot!! I vaguely remember thinkin that when i was a kid and she was in LA Law ;) Im sure i read somewhere that her character was meant to be gay or bi, it makes sense fron how they introduced her ie: totally ignoring some guy who was chatting her up coz she was very into watching the poledance....the smile and the eye contact with the dancer was hot! :p ;) And then the idea that she was aquainted with Neil and the hint at the fact they had been out partying together, one would assume on the gay scene somewhere tells us a lot! But gay or not i think she's hot! Will definately add a little sparkle to series 8 4 me!

I love Lou Stoke  She's so my type, it's unbelievable.

Her attitude is fantastic, so much so that I wouldn't mind a night out with her and then seeing where it leads to afterwards

;)

In the risk of lowering the tone.....i just have to say how great her butt looked in her Armani jeans last night! ;) only thing missing was the keychain.....

I do remember sitting on my sofa thinking 'My god she looks fit', when she was near the gate to G-Wing, telling Janine to book herself into rehab.

That jacket is rather tight too...

Hi guys
Does ne1 know Amanda's age?
That famous screen kiss with Michele Greene on LA Law was fifteen years and two weeks last Thursday.( Thursday July 11th 1991), yet she looks as good now as she did then,(15 years later). She certainly doesn't look her age, (whatever her age is), bless her.
I just wondered.

raffles - July 30, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)
I believe she is 44 or there abouts according to the imdb.com

Lezli - July 30, 2006 11:11 AM (GMT)
She does look good for her age. She appears to be aging quite naturally.
Obviously, you can see where time has taken it's toll, but she looks like she has a healthy diet, exercises regulary etc etc...

Lisa289 - July 30, 2006 12:54 PM (GMT)
Amanda interview

If you look at that scan, it states Amanda's age as 44.

Oh she is so hot!

AD was actually one of my first female crushes, I remember battling with my mother to be allowed to stay up late to watch 'that' episode of LA Law!

As for her butt looking great... it definitely looked great five years ago along with the rest of her! Did anybody else manage to see her when she was playing Mrs Robinson in The Graduate?

(Okay, back to the Helen and Nikki video before I decide to make a Lou Stokes video... and I haven't even watched her episodes yet!)

Helen&Nikki4ever - July 30, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
Yes i remember thinking she was hot in LA Law too! I used to watch it with my aunty, we both loved it. I also remember thinking Susan Dey was attractive too, but more in a 'when i grow up i want to be like her' way not a 'when i grow up i want to do her way'. Oh yes, i wanted to be a lawyer for years coz of that show! I was however put off when i realised we dont get to wear the power suits in court in Britain but stupid black robes and a funny wig. It was all about the power suits for me......even pre teenage years i had the hallmarks of a good lesbian! :lol1

Ive not seen the Graduate but i remember being disturbed by "the lair of the white worm" when i was younger

A Lou video at some point sounds good......

You only have to wear the stupid black robe and funny wig if you decide to become a barrister, become a solicitor and you can wear whatever the hell you like... at least the solicitors at the firm I work for do!

Amanda was phenominal in The Graduate, I'm not a fan of her American accents but for the production she imitated Anne Bancroft and was exceptional in doing so. Even in the scene where she was drunk and singing! And the notorious naked scene... my girlfriend at the time and I could not get over the fact that the woman did not have one ounce of fat on her entire body. :D

And what do you mean you were disturbed by Lair Of The White Worm when you were younger? The film disturbs me even now! Though I'm not sure how much that is to do with a naked AD painted blue with a giant strap-on or the two sisters and their amazingly awful acting!

I've been downloading the 8th season for future watching but I want to get up to date with the rest of the series... pulled an all-nighter watching season 5 Friday night, so just seasons 6 and 7 to watch before Amanda time! And then we'll see what I can do on the video front. :D (I'm sure I've seen a video for Lou already somewhere in the depths of YouTube)

I found a short video.

Nice little vid, I love that song! Always have done, its great.

Helen&Nikki4ever - July 31, 2006 05:15 PM (GMT)
Damn why do i have to have a pc that doesnt work properly? will be a while before i can download it

Lol i dont remember much about the worm film as i was so young.....dont remember the strap on either  i just remember being disturbed!

And i did want to be a barrister but it wasnt just the wigs that put me off in the end it was the realisation of how hard a law degree would have been in contrast to the one i ended up doin!

and i remeber pulling all nighters during my series 1-3 watching! :popcorn

All the students we have working for us complain about their courses, I think it's the second amount of studying after medicine.

So if we're not going too far off topic... what degree course did you end up doing?

And I pulled an all nighter for series one with my lovely VHS boxset, for series two I begged and pleaded with the girlfriend for her copies and then I was watching the series regularly for the rest of series two and three, that was painful having to wait an entire seven days for a new episode! I used to have the television on ITV all the time just incase an advert was on! Sad but very true. Now I just have to pop over to you tube for all the trailers.

I'm very near the stage of foregoing series 6 and 7, the lure of Amanda and the mention of the 'strip club' storyline are proving to be far too tempting! :D

P.S. 4ever, I love your banner, did you find it or make it?

Helen&Nikki4ever - August 1, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
In the end i did Film studies combined with Media/cultural studies. I managed to find a course that combined my favourite things, tv and film! :D

well with me i started watching properly in series 5, altho i had seen the odd one or two eps in the past. problem was when BG first started it was during my out down the pub everynite days! Anyway, i borrowed the earlier series off my freind and of course was hooked on H&N and then i sed i was trying to buy them all off ebay. and she said as i love you you can buy all 6 boxsets off me for 30 quid! So thats my BG story! And, er, yea, the banner was nicked off another site! :slurp

So I guess I'm the only one who loved Amanda as Lady Silvia in Lair of the White Worm?!

*shrug*

I have vivid memories of CJ and LA Law...I watched it religiously every week because I had such a crush on her! The only problem there was that I was engaged and had only just come out to myself....it was a relief to have a 3 dimensional bisexual character on TV just as I was coming out.

I'm really enjoying Lou Stoke, it's a great role for her. And yes, I'll agree...she's aged remarkably well. ;)
