Title: Series 8 Release

BadGurl - September 29, 2006 08:39 PM (GMT)
I just got an e-mail from Amazon.co.uk today offering a pre-order to series 8. They are due to dispatch this series December 27th, 2006. I am thinking a lot of you will be getting this e-mail as well. I just thought I would mention this in the event that some of you have not received it. I just pre-ordered mine today.

Pre-Order Here

Thanks for the release date :hug2

No problem...just trying to pass on the information as I hear/see it. :hug2

Good to know :)

That's kind of bizarrely fast, given the delays with the release of S7 & the usual lag-time--shouldn't 8 be released next summer to coincide with 9? Sounds to me like it's done after this xmas special airs & they're releasing it early before people find out & forget or lose interest.

Also--can anyone tell me: are there any extras on the S7 discs?? Thanks.

BadGurl - September 30, 2006 11:25 PM (GMT)
I think its bizarre too. I wonder if the date will end up being pushed out like series 7 was, mostly thinking that because of the X-Mas special. The other thing it makes me think is...that series 8 will in fact be it. Whether its true or not...it was the first thought I had.

The only extra's/bonus on Series 7 is the X-Mas special and a photo gallery. (Which you would think would be more since there was a long wait for it to be released.)

Wow--do they actually WANT to sell S7 dvds? I mean, the Xmas Special was an episode, so it hardly counts as an extra, and then just a photo gallery? No interviews, outtakes or anything? It really feels like they're phoning it in, with the writing, the direction, the dvd production, everything. Depressing. How can I care about the show when the people working on it don't seem to?

I know what your saying abzug, kind of a bummer to wait and pay for it and thats all you get. I did a double check just now to make sure my answer was right, and it is. It says on box: "Extra's- Bonus Episode: Christmas Special and Photo Gallery". Only 4 discs. But they know if your collecting them, your going to buy it with or without all the perks. SIGH

Lisa289 - October 1, 2006 11:51 AM (GMT)
I was gutted about the S7 DVD not having any extras too. Not even a cast interview!

The whole thing about the Series 7 DVD isn't a very good sign of BG as it now is. When you compare it with Series 2 which had interesting chunks of Deleted Scenes, the outtakes , the BG in south africa tour and the Simone and Mandana trailer, the result is painful. Sure the Christmas special is worthwhile having but just not on its own.

Lisa289 - October 1, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
Exactly; compare with the likes of the S2 Extras and you can see the disappointment most/all of BG fans are going to be feeling

This discussion got me curious, so I checked. The first four series were released by Contender Entertainment Group; Series 5, 6 & 7 were released by 2 Entertain (a joint venture from VCI & BBC Video). Here's the breakdown of extras and number of discs per series.

Series 1: Contender Entertainment Group. Extras incl.: Bad Girls in Oxford Documentary, Commentary Track (ep 10), Cast Interviews, Outtakes, Fan Featurette, and Photo Library (4 discs)

Series 2: Contender Entertainment Group. Extras incl.: Exclusive Documentary, Bad Girls in South Africa, incl. Simone & Mandana's Trailers, Outtakes, Deleted Scenes, and Photo Gallery (4 discs)

Series 3: Contender Entertainment Group. Extras incl.: Interactive map of Larkhall Prison (incl. interviews with cast & crew), Outtakes, Prison File: behind the scenes and subsidiary character profiles, Audio CD: Bad Girls theme and music from the show (5 discs + Audio CD with theme & music from show)

Series 4: Contender Entertainment Group. Extras incl.: Tour of New Exterior Set with Jack Ellis, Fan Event with Simone & Mandana, International Theatrical Trailer, Outtakes, Series 1 Feature (basically made a feature with elements of all of series one with clips put together; didn't flow very freely in my opinion), Stills, Photos, Screensavers. (5 discs)

Series 5: 2 Entertain (VCI/BBC Video). Extras incl.: Outtakes, and Photo Gallery (4 discs)

Series 6: 2 Entertain (VCI/BBC Video). Extras incl.: Outtakes, Interviews, The King in Larkhall, Tanya Turner - Ultimate Bad Girl, Bad Girls The Musical (preview). (3 discs)

Series 7: 2 Entertain (VCI/BBC Video). Extras incl.: Bonus episdoe: Christmas Special, Photo Gallery. (4 discs).

I'm really disappointed that they never did include the Bad Girls: Most Wanted Special on any of the dvd sets. I believe it was aired btw 5th & 6th series. I still have it on my desktop computer from shortly after it aired in the UK.

I was really disappointed about this too; I really want to watch it again. Would you be able to send it me via email or something? I'd be so thankful. :)

BadGurl - October 2, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
Ditto....I would like a copy of it as well. :D

Ceridwyn2 - October 2, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
It's about a 450MB mpg file (and I've yet to figure out how to properly put stuff up as a torrent). I don't mind making discs to send out, but I need postal addresses. Rather than post them here, send me an e-mail at celtic-dragon at rogers dot com.

Bad Girls - Series 1-4 - Complete on DVD Release Date: 9 October 2006. I have series 1-7 with 8 preorderd, but before deleting this message I just thought perhaps someone might not have all the series, or perhaps people know other people who don't have them and would like to collect them all. So thought I would share the info I received from amazo.co.uk today.

Here is the link:

You know, I would totally buy this if they were releasing the widescreen versions which they broadcast on tv. I guess we'll just have to wait and see....

BadGurl - October 5, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
Yeah I can understand that. But hey...this was kind of a suprise for them to come out with this, so given some time, perhaps they will come out with widescreen versions. Who knows right? :hug2

ekny - October 5, 2006 04:10 PM (GMT)
Ditto the formatting issue. But... Bodybag and Lorna Rose on the cover? Uh... Lorna's a nice character & all but--hello? she was barely on for a full season. Whose goofy idea was THAT.

BadGurl - October 5, 2006 04:16 PM (GMT)
HAHA...I thought the same thing! LOL Ask the same people do decided what "extra's" we get!! LOL

No shite.

ETA: I don't know how they go about remixing stuff for DVD if they're producing a wider-format version--how big a deal it is--but can't imagine they'll ever release it with original music as shown on TV. If they weren't about to negotiate/pay the rights back then... why would they now? It's a big hassle, you need to do rights for every artist and every producer--whatever they call whoever released the track--and if either balks or wants too much you can't move forward.

Received my Series 8 boxset in the mail a couple of days ago and not that impressive. The only extra's are a photo gallery and they added the Christmas special. Disappointed big time, but I expected it. At least they could have put on some outtakes. Oh well. I guess they figured it was the end so it didn't matter. :cry2

BadGurl :hug2

Lisa289 - January 2, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
I wished for some outtakes, but unfortunately there aren't any. Oh well.

This is weird. Play.com now quotes the extras for the Series 7 DVDs as follows:

- Christmas Special
- Photo Gallery
- Bad Girls Most Wanted!

I don't have the DVDs so cannot elaborate, but do you think they have been changed?

This is a pity. The earlier series of BG gave us a lot of extras, deleted scenes and 'cast interviews' that added real value to the DVD. The Christmas specials are welcome but it is a shame that this is the only extra.
