These characters do not beleng to me they belong to shed I am merly having my way with them for a little while.
You will notice some simularities between the beginning of this one and my last fic. Writting this one actually gave me the idea for my other one. But that is where the simularities end.
Chapter 1
The woman of g wing sat around the television waiting to see what happened with Nikki's trial. They all knew that she never deserved to be in prison in the first place but judges often saw that differently especially when it came to cop killers. They saw the news come on and Yvonne yelled for them to be quiet as they watched Nikki walk from the courthouse. They were all disappointed though when they saw the cuffs around her wrist. Yvonne turned the TV up and listened to what the reporter had to say. "We have just heard word from inside that Nikki Wade has lost her appeal." Then a shot rang out and the whole wing screamed out as they watched Nikki fall to the ground. The Julies screamed out together "Nikki no." They sat there and held each other as the other women cried. They waited by the television for a half an hour waiting to hear any word on weather or not their friend was alright. Then they saw Miss Betts come walking onto the wing. Julie J ran up to her right away. "Miss Betts is Nikki alright?" Karen looked around the room and then spoke loudly. "You all know that Nikki was shot today outside the courthouse. She was alive when the paramedics came to get her but unfortunately on the way to the hospital the ambulance got into and accident, it lost control and caught fire. The paramedics were able to make it out but unfortunately they could not save Nikki. She's dead."
It was a small service outside on a sunny day. Trish was there and a few of Nikki's friends from the club. Karen Betts went and with her she took Barbara Hunt and Yvonne Atkins. She felt that since they were so close to Nikki that they deserved to be there. No one saw the other woman standing under the trees. Helen stood there and watched as Barbara got up to say a few words. "I shared a cell with Nikki at Larkhall. At first I was terrified of her, scared that she would jump me at any moment. She always had this tough image, but it wasn't very long before I got to see the good side of Nikki. She had a big heart and would do anything for someone that was in need." Barbara looked up as she spoke and caught a glimpse of Helen under the trees. "There was one woman though who knew Nikki better than any of us. She gave Nikki hope for the future and showed Nikki what it was like to love again. I don't know if Helen ever knew just how much Nikki loved her because she had a strange way of showing it sometimes. But I know that Nikki loved her with all of her heart and that Helen gave her happiness in her darkest time. Goodbye Nikki we will all miss you and Thank you Helen for giving our friend her smile back." Barbara walked back and stood next to Yvonne. Karen spoke right away. "You don't mean Helen Stewart do you?" "Yes miss I do. Don't worry nothing ever happened but they did love each other more than I have ever saw one person love another."
Helen Stewart walked away from the cemetery thinking that she should not have gone. But she just couldn't keep herself away. It seemed ironic somehow that it took this to bring their love out into the open.

I'm intrigued to know how this one is going to pan out, as it starts the same as your last one.

Chapter 2
Helen was sitting in her living room half way through a bottle of wine when she heard a knock at the door. "Karen this is a surprise, come in and have a seat. I was just having a drink would you like one?" "Yes that would be lovely." Helen poured a drink as Karen sat down. "So Karen to what do I owe this pleasure?" "I'm here about Nikki Wade." "Nikki. Why would you come see me about her?" "Actually I have come to bring you her things." Karen handed Helen a bag with some clothes and Books in it. Helen took the bag and looked at Karen surprised. "But why. Why would you bring them to me?" "Well usually we would give them to the family. But with Nikki's family situation and you being her partner it only seemed right that you should have them." "Partner what do you mean?" "Well Barbara Hunt mentioned yours and Nikki’s relationship at the funeral. I don't know why I didn't see it before now. Nikki's attitude changed drastically when you came back to work at the prison. Then there was the sudden talk of an appeal." " Ya well allot of good that did now didn't it." "Don't talk like that. From what I hear when Nikki came to prison she had given up all hope on life. But you changed that, you showed her love and understanding. Even when she was difficult. She really did love you Helen." "I know she did. I just wish I could have done better for her. She gave me all of herself and I always held something back from her. I was scared to give in all the way, scared that I would loose her in the end. She never knew how much I cared." "Trust me Helen she knew. So what now? It looks like your packing." "I took a job in Sanfasisco working with youth. There isn't much reason for me to stay here anymore." "That’s understandable. I wish you the best of luck Helen but I should probably be going. The women are still really upset. I think it is going to be a long day tomorrow." "Thank you for coming. It meant a lot." "Goodbye Helen." Helen closed the door behind Karen. She sat back down staring at the bag in front of her but she could not bring herself to open it. Instead she went upstairs to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day. The first day of the rest of her life.
Helen woke up in the morning and finished packing her things. She looked around remember the night when Nikki had escaped. She had taken a leap and done everything in her power to prove her love to Helen. Now Helen’s only regret was that it had taken her so long to realize just how much she loved Nikki. She whispered I love you then walked outside to a waiting cab
She got settled in her seat on the plane. It was going to be a very long flight so she would have time to work out what she was going to do when she got there. But instead as the plane lifted off her thoughts went to the past. When she told Nikki she as leaving the prison that day it broke Helen's heart. She realized then that she did not want to spend the rest of her life without Nikki in it. But instead of telling Nikki that she ran like a coward again. What if Nikki didn't get out? Ten years was a long time to wait. Then there was the supper with Thomas. The things that he said only confirmed her thoughts more. So instead of going home that night she went back to the prison. There had been no time for everything to be changed over so Helen had no trouble with the guards. "Your here late Miss." "I forgot some paperwork in my office and it needs to be done for tomorrow." The guard smiled and handed Helen her keys. Thank god that the night staff hadn't heard of her resignation yet. She went down to g-wing and stopped to talk to one of the night duty officers. "I need to see Atkins I have a couple of questions to ask her so I can finish a report by morning." "Would you like me to get her for you?" "No that’s alright I will speak to her in her cell." Helen quickly went and let herself into Yvonne's cell and was surprised when she heard Yvonne speak right away. "Why Miss did you get the wrong cell I thought it was only Wade’s cell you snuck into in the middle of the night. I don't think you’re going to find what you’re looking for in here." Helen just stood there with a surprised look on her face. "What miss didn't think anyone knew about your and our Nikki? Anyone who pays any attention could she the way her eyes lit up when you walked into the room." "Why haven't you ever said anything?" "Well miss the way I see it Nikki already got a bum wrap being stuck in here. And if anyone can make her smile like that then I figure it's a secret worth keeping. But tell me miss I’m sure you didn't come here for a heart to heart. And Nikki will be out of here in a day or two so why are you here?" "Well that’s just it Yvonne what if they don't let her out? You and I both know that she doesn't belong here but what if the judges don't see it that way? She did kill a police officer." "I suppose they would send her back here." "Yvonne I can't let that happen. I can’t spend the next ten years without her and it will kill Nikki if they send her back here. You have to help me." "Help you but how and what about you’re Dr Waugh." "Thomas and I are over. I love Nikki and it’s her I want to be with. I need you to help me make sure she doesn't come back here." "How do you propose we do that?" "Well I want you to get someone to shoot her." "Now I know you've lost it. I think you took a wrong turn miss. The Muppet wing is that way." "No let me explain. You have contacts on the outside; we will get someone to shoot Nikki on her way out of the courthouse. Not a fatal shot just wounded somewhere safe. On the street outside will happen to be an ambulance and two paramedics that will take Nikki to the hospital. The will be hired paramedics then on the way to the hospital the ambulance will stop somewhere and have Nikki transferred to another car. Then the ambulance will have an accident on the way to the hospital a fire will start which will cause the full fuel tank and oxygen tanks to explode. The paramedics will make it out and everyone will assume that Nikki died in the fire. No one would ever think that she would have escaped and besides with the heat from the fire you won't be able to tell." "Well, well Miss I never knew you had it in you. So what does Nikki think about this." "She doesn't know and we can't tell her. It would look too obvious is she knew what was coming. Besides with any luck Nikki will walk out of the court room a free woman that day." "I don't know. How do I know you’re not just trying to set me up? You are still a screw." "Well actually I stopped being a screw this afternoon when Fenner threatened to tell the appeals court that Nikki escaped to see me the night of Sylvia's party and I smuggled her back in." "Bloody hell you really did that?" "Yes I did so pleas Yvonne will you help me? I will pay whatever it takes." "Alright I will help you. I will even see if I can arrange for a dead body so they have some remains to bury. I don't want your money though. Nikki has been good to me so I owe her one. Just promise me you will look after her." "I will I promise." "And miss what are you going to do when you get her out? I mean she can't just walk down the street." "I am going to get her a fake passport and have her taken to Sanfrasisco. She has always wanted to go there." Yvonne smiled and nodded as Helen left the room. Helen went to the courthouse, making sure no one saw her. She heard the testimony and the judge saying he was going to hold the ruling over till the next day. But she could not bear to go back the next day. So she sat in a bar and watched it on TV. She watched Nikki leaving the courthouse in handcuffs. Even though she knew what was coming next it still brought tears to her eyes as she heart the shot ring out and watched Nikki fall to the ground. The paramedics came and everything went as planned. Well almost everything. Nikki was supposed to be shot in the shoulder but the shooter missed hitting her in the side instead. She lost a lot of blood but they managed to stabilize her before flying her out of the country that night on a private jet to a waiting doctor in Sanfasisco. The last Helen heard though Nikki had still not regained consciousness.

Chapter 3
Helen came back to reality as the plane touched down on the ground. She quickly hailed a cab and headed for the house. She had sold her flat and bought a house over here and when Helen told Trish about her plan she had graciously agreed to help in any way possible. Then there was the will. To Helen’s surprise Nikki had left her everything. Her savings and her half of the club. Helen used very little of the money, just enough to pay for the best doctor she could get. Trish had flown over right after the service to look after things until Helen got all her affairs settled. Helen walked into the house and went up the stairs to the room where she knew Nikki was. Trish looked up when she heard Helen come into the room. "Helen you made it. Why didn't you phone me when your plane landed I would have come to the airport to get you." "I didn't want Nikki to be left here alone. How is she?" "The doctor said that there is no change. He doesn't understand why she hasn't woken up yet. HE said her body is healing but her mind won't respond. It's almost like she doesn't want to wake up. Every once in a while though she mutters. She says 'No I can't go back I’ve lost my hope’ But she won't respond when we try and talk to her." Helen had held it together up until now. But she couldn't hold it in anymore; she broke down and started to cry. "My god look what I’ve done. All I wanted to do was get her out and look what I’ve done instead. It wasn't supposed to happen this way." Trish walked over and put her arms around Helen.” Helen you did what was best. There was no way you were to know that this was going to happen. Nikki is strong she will wake up trust me." "I know she is strong but I am so used to having all the answers. Now I don't have any and I am so scared. I don't think I can live my life without her in it."
For the next two weeks Helen sat beside Nikki’s bed waiting for something anything that would let her know she was still in there somewhere. But there was nothing but the sound of her breathing. Trish had tried to get her to go out for a cup of coffee or even a walk but she wouldn't. She needed to be there when Nikki woke up. Then late one night she was woken to the sound of Nikki's voice. "No I can't go back I've lost my hope. I can't go back without my hope." Helen took Nikki's hand and as the tears rolled down her face she spoke." "Nikki you haven't lost it, I'm right hear sweetheart. I don't know if you can hear me, but I'm sorry I was a coward I ran away from us and I shouldn't have. But I'm here now and I promise I won't run anymore. Please Nikki I love you so much sweetheart. Please come back to me." Helen was sobbing uncontrollably now. She could have sworn that she felt Nikki's hand tighten around hers once but as hard as she tried she could not get her to do it again. Every other night Helen had sleeped in a chair beside Nikki's bed but tonight she could not bear to be that far away from her. Carefully she climbed into the bed and wrapped herself up inside Nikki's arms. Within minutes she drifted off to a deep sleep.
She woke up the next morning to the feeling of movement in the bed beside her. At firs she thought she was dreaming then she heard Nikki speak.” Am I dead? Is this heaven?" "Nikki you’re awake thank god." Helen kissed Nikki over and over again all over her face until she found her way to her lips which she kissed softly but passionately. She pulled away and looked into Nikki's eyes, she had never been so happy to see them. Then Nikki said "I am dead and this is heaven. Only I didn't think heaven would hurt like this. What happened Helen where am I?" Helen got out and stood beside the bed.” What is the last thing you remember Nikki?" "I remember getting up in the morning and getting my stuff together. Then giving everyone hugs on my way out of the prison to go to the courthouse. Then I remember being at the courthouse the judge came out and he looked at Fenner in the eye and winked at him. Fenner turned and gave me that creepy grin of his, and then the judge told me that I had lost my appeal. They were taking me out of the courthouse Fenner whispered in my ear 'see I told you I would get you one way or another. Your little girlfriends not going to be around to protect you this time.' Then I heard a shot and it all went black. What happened Helen?" "I think maybe we should wait to talk about it. You’ve only just woken up and I don't want to overload you." "Helen tell me what happened." Helen could see the look in Nikki's Eyes and knew better than to push her any further. "You were shot outside the courthouse and have only just woken up." "What, shot by who why? If I got shot why I am not at the hospital?" "Okay I will tell you the whole story but you have to promise not to get angry and interrupt me until I’m done." "Okay go on." "Well I made arrangement to have someone hired to shoot you." "You what?" Nikki shouted. "Nikki you said you would wait." Nikki nodded and kept her mouth shut but Helen could see the, this better be good look in her eye. "After I left the prison that day Thomas and I split up. HE saw right through me and saw the truth. The truth was that I was in love with you. I realized that I loved you and I couldn't be without you. But I had quit the prison and there was no guarantee on your appeal. So that night I went to the prison to see Yvonne. She used her connections to have a man outside the courthouse incase you lost. If you lost he was supposed to shoot you in the arm then very well paid paramedics would just so happen to be outside the courthouse to take you to the hospital only the ambulance never made it to the hospital. It had an accident on the way rolled over and caught fire. The paramedics made it out but you were killed in the accident. Obviously though it wasn't really you in the ambulance. They stopped right before that and you were switched with an already dead body. Then you were put on a private jet and flown here to Sanfransisco. The only thing we weren't counting on was that the gun man was a lousy shot. He hit you in the side instead of in the arm." Helen stopped and waited for Nikki to say something. But she didn't she just layed there staring at Helen. "Nikki please say something, anything." "Helen you have to give me a couple of minutes to take all this in. I am not used to having people shoot me to show there affection. Don't you think that flowers would have been easier.”?”I'm sorry I didn't know what else to do. I couldn't bear the thought of being without you and I know that it would have killed you to go back to prison. Nikki I love you so much I just wanted to be with you. Besides I figured if you were wounded you couldn't run away." Nikki laughed and looked into Helen's eyes like she had done a thousand times before but this time she say something else. She saw love passion and the future.
