According to Val McDermid's site as well as Robson Green's, ITV has commissioned a fifth series of Wire in the Blood and they will start filming in the Newcastle area on January 15th. No word on the actual airing date as of yet- late spring? They're doing the usual 4 90-minute episodes. Simone is signed on.

Your guess is as good as anybody's! It took almost a full year after its airing for season three to come out on DVD so who knows??

Robson Green's board leaked the news that the title of the first episode for season five is rumoured to be "The Colour of Amber".

Great to hear that there is going to be another series of WITB.

If my memory serves me correctly didnt they film last time in November & december, and it was aired in september. Therefore I doubt if they are starting filming in january it would be aired in the spring. My guess would be that it would be screened in the autumn.

As for the DVDs, they always seem to have a habit of releasing the previous series on DVD just before or at the same time as the new series is being shown. So we may not get it until autumn.

They filmed last year around Christmas, yeah. (I was getting my seasons mixed up! LOL! Series 3 was aired in the spring.) Australia got the episodes for S4 in August; I remember because I downloaded it and put reviews up on Robson's official site. So you're right- probably September at the earliest.

So if australia get them first is there anyway chance of getting them on youtube, or sneak previews lol. Waiting is a killer lol, espically if you know just across the otherside the world someone has it all! (i say jusr across the otherside of the world like its a small distance)

I read of it being aired on the 11th and literally 'squeed'. Yeah, I think I need to stop doing that.. :rolleyes: But I have a right to, as it's Simone.. Right?

July 11th...... I've just gone back up to working 5 days a week too. Which means I'll have to record it. I have a week to learn how to use my DVD recorder properly :rolleyes:

Such a good Q&A! Thanks to the person who took the time to type it out.

One thing that jumped out at me is how much she's changed, at least according to the little we know of her. She quit smoking, for one thing, and then the environmental consciousness -- it may have been there all along, but it seems new.

She also comes across as very self-deprecating, which I guess I've seen once in awhile in past interviews, but it's here in spades. That, and of course, her constant emphasis on family (her child, her parents, her husband, her brother, etc.). Maybe some people think she talks about them too much, but I just see it as a reflection of her world, which seems to be filled with this large and loving family.

And, yeah, I read the same thing into her comment about "the worst thing you could say to me" -- bashing the press isn't a good idea when your job is to promote your show, but I'd say she's hinting at her anger over the stuff that came up in the AE interview.

In this weeks "The people" magazine there was an interview with Robson Green. In one of the questions he was asked about Simone to which he replied:


"One thing i love about Simone is her warmth. There's a toughness, but within that equation there is a very sensual person, and incredibly sexy lady who deals with her character, Alex, in a very clever, balanced way.
Tony respects her and they really enjoy listening to each other. That was a note Simone brought and one that i think improved the show.
She brought her toddler Newcastle for filming and all i heard from her caravan was: "Oh, hokey cokey cokey!" :D

On another, seperate note about WITB. Of the four episode synopsis' that are published, not one mentions anything about a connection to Texas, and Robson say's in the interview that he isn't going out there to film until July. So i was wondering, will this be for an extra episode? Or will it just be edited in to one of the four at the last minute?

He referred to it as a 'one-off'...so I assume it's like a separate tv movie featuring just his character in a very different setting.
