Title: Life Outside Of Scootering

dread - October 13, 2009 08:19 AM (GMT)
so after reading some posts on hear, i ahve to say, i live my life far too much as a scooterist,
if i am not looking to get parts, i am working on a scooter, or on hear or opne of a mirriad of other scooter sites, spouting the shite and lieing about how fast my svx 275 went in the early 70's anf how i owned a scooter at just 10, and rode it on the road, dropping my dad off to work, before going on to school myself and parking in noddy holders parking space
you see it is all too easy, to do the scooter thing.
SO NEXT YEAR, I AM GOING TO TAKE THE YOUNG UN TO BANGER RACING, every now and again.
wot do you do, to leave scootering behind you once in a while. and go say pub, as if i go to the pub, i will end up talkin scooters....
OH P.S i all ready do internet porn for 10 min's a day, so not that either

bikes and racing, military vehicles and plenty of reading. Plus beer. ;)

elgarra - October 13, 2009 08:47 AM (GMT)
My new love is Mini's. I bought my first one a few months ago (a 1275 SPI) and havn't had so much fun building something in years. The engines are a joy to work on, there is plenty of panel work to keep me busy and happy, the tuning opportunties are splendid and they have soul.

I'll have a pickup next. ;)

Racer_6ixx - October 13, 2009 08:50 AM (GMT)
after work and then taking over the care of my daughter to be honest all i want to do is sleep - im heavily into collecting records - vinyl only, i dont really go out much these days - everyone i know has a young family so its a tad difficult sometimes.

Once January comes and the TV show 'Lost' comes back on - i will be happy for at least an hour a week.

If i can fit in the reading of a horror novel i will.

im a bit boring in my old age it seems.

Any free moment i get i go out on the scoot for a drive.

Thinkin about joining 1 of the Aberdeen based clubs - got 2 to choose from - both appear entirely different from the other.

in my yute, i had a 1275 gt, and the braking system, was innosenti sprit system. hahaha
i still have a vw bus, but the costs of doing any work on it, are astranomical.
need some where to pull the engine and rub it doon, and camo it.

It's an odd one, this. I stopped going to scooter rallies some years ago and didn't really miss it-I was very busy mountain biking and surfing at the time. Now, due to injuries and sewage i don't do either sport and now don't really have a hobby aside from the gym and my gay knitwear. I do find myself drinking too much of a weekend and sending too many drunken abusive texts to people.

tuts - October 13, 2009 08:56 AM (GMT)
Watching bands, Suffering at the Ricoh stadium as Coventry City masquerade as a football team,Fishing and reading books.

Cindy - October 13, 2009 09:01 AM (GMT)
I try to read a good book once in a while but my main 'Life outside scootering' is my volunteer work. I am on the committee for a small entirely volunteer run registered dog charity who finds homes for old dogs across the UK. I used to be the chair and fostering coordinator but due to my 'normal work load' had to take a step back and now I am the PR Coordinator trying to get our name out there.

So if anyone wants to help in some way be it poster hanging, helping transporting dogs to their new foster homes and safety or even foster/adopting one of our dogs, or maybe make a donation/buy some of our merchandise to help funding us, here our website where you get all the info you need www.oldies.org.uk

Thank you :)

PX200Matt - October 13, 2009 09:08 AM (GMT)
Taken up gym, going 5 times a week, dropped out of weekly local club meets and dropped out of drinking every day. Trying to get my shit together for when I'll be allowed to see my nippers again - aside from that, have two bands on the go and an insatiable girlfriend so life is very good :love Still ride the shit -heap shopping trolley every single day and love it and will be back on rallys next year, just more selective about it - only longer distance jaunts such as Kelso and some of them norvern ones where they all drink flat bitter! Over the winter, will be buying another shit heap - this time a motorbike, so I can do improvements to the PX. :easyrider

One of the reasons I took a year out this year was to re-evalate my life, to reassess my priorities and to see how I'd survive off the scene as it had completely taken over my life... if it wasn't a rally, it was fixing a scooter, or DJing, or doing the sideline, or sitting on here chatting, or....
It'd got too much and I needed a break to see if I could walk away from it all completely.

See you all at rallies next year! :D :D :D :D

(Leigh Centurions RLC, music collecting and listening, reading - especially science fiction -, the radio station thingy and spending as much time with the two loves of my life, Fiona and my son, if you really want to know. And not even close to in that order!)

PX9 - October 13, 2009 11:23 AM (GMT)
I don't do football or any other spectator sport. I've given up on buying any music but still listen to some soul in the bath. I do read the odd book and crossword. I work full time and get paid to ride my scoot about Stockport.

So apart from my family all I really do is Scooters.

Riding, fixing, rallying and tinkering with projects in the garage (when I'm not in front of the box with a beer), the odd ride out and a weekly meet in the pub with some Scooter boys.

I'm happy with my simple life and thats the way I like it.

And don't i know it. -_-

I once ended sitting at Giants Ring with a coven of witches after drinking Jack Daniels.

They were very nice people, and seemed quite taken with me.

The Giants Ring is my favourate place for a bit of calm and solitude.

Stephen Davison will launch his new book Flying Finn, a tribute to the late great Martin Finnegan at two special Martin Finnegan Days.
The first of these special events will be held on Saturday, 3rd October at St MacCullin's Round Tower Centre in Lusk village and will run from 11am to 5pm.
The second will be held on Sunday, 11th October in the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney and will run from 1pm until 5pm. (Please note the Ballymoney date is different from previously published information)

On both days a full line up of Martin's racing bikes- the Round Tower Suzuki, the Danfay Yamaha, the recently acquired Vitrans Honda, the Klaffi Honda, the JMF Yamaha and the beautiful MV Agusta F4- will be on display courtesy of the Martin Finnegan Supporters' Club. There will also be a display of mini moto machines painted in the same livery.
Alongside the bikes will be a photographic display of many of the highlights and behind the scene moments from Martin's spectacular career.
Members of the Finnegan family will also be in attendance and it is hoped that there will be some of Martin's former racing rivals present as well.
Flying Finn will be on sale on both days and the author, Stephen Davison will be present to sign copies.

See a few of you count the gym as a hobby well since I work in a gym the last thing I want to do in my spare time is jump on a treadmill or lift weights. Alhough I hate gyms my main passion is martial arts/combat sports. Up until about 10 weeks ago I trained boxing, grapling and juijitsu 2/3 times a week to compete and to keep me generally fit and healthy. Unfortunately 10 weeks ago during a grapling/sparring session me and everyone else training heard a loud audioable pop. It was my knee I have ruptured my cruciate ligament it has completely snapped and I have got to have surgery soon which means I will not be able to do any serious training for around a year ;jaw
