Gamekeeper's Hut This hut is rather large, and made entirely of wood. There is a little rickety wooden fence surrounding the hut, and a pumpkin patch in the back yard. Description of the inside of the hut will come when we get a GameKeeper.

The Forbidden Forest To the east of Hogwarts Castle is a large, dark forest. This forest is strictly off limits to Hogwarts students, except in the course of occasional Care of Magical Creatures lessons or detentions. The forest is thick with trees, as well as undergrowth such as knotgrass and thorns -- but there are paths, brooks, and some clearings. Off the path, the way is almost impassable, although people have moved through it and creatures as large as Acromantulas and a Ford Anglia have managed to get around. The forbidden forest is home to a wide and strange assortment of creatures. Anything wild and dangerous that needs a place to live is put there.

Courtyard The Courtyard is flat grassy land with trees and flower beds sprinkled about in a beautifully designed way. It is especially beautiful in the spring when all the flowers start to bloom, and in the winter when it's covered in a sparkling white blanket of snow.

The Three Broomsticks A great spot to drink butterbeer, although they also serve gillywater, mulled mead, red currant rum, and even cherry syrup and soda with ice and an umbrella. There are tables, booths, and a mirror over the bar.

The Shrieking Shack Reputed to be the most haunted house in Britain, the Shrieking Shack gets its name from the terrifying screams and noises heard coming from it some twenty years ago. The Shack has been silent for years, but the reputation lives on. The windows are completely boarded up. Outside the house is a dank, overgrown garden. The entrances are all sealed.

Madam Puddifoot's A small, cramped tea shop with decor on the tacky side of frilly, filled with small circular tables, located on a side street off the High Street; the only Hogwarts students who seem to patronize the place are trysting couples. The owner uses a revoltingly sappy decor for Valentine's Day (floating golden cherubs occasionally throwing pink confetti). It is now owned by Madam Puddifoot's daughter, who goes by the same title.

The Hog's Head A small inn in Hogsmeade, on a side street off the main street, much dirtier (and attracting a more, er, interesting, clientele) than the Three Broomsticks. The bar consists of a single small, dirty room smelling strongly of something that might be goats; while students are permitted to go in, they're advised to bring their own glasses. It's something of a fashion to hide one's face in the Hog's Head, by wearing a hood or veil.

Post Office At least three hundred owls, from Great Grays to tiny Scops ("Local Deliveries Only"), wait to carry messages. They sit on shelves that are color-coded, depending on how fast you want your letter to get to its destination.

The Streets The streets are made of cobblestone, and are actually quite clean. They are very wide, though there is usually never any traffic on them.

Kingscross Station In order to catch the Hogwarts Express train to Hogwarts, students must board at Platform Nine and Three Quarters at Kings Cross Station. This Platform is not visible to Muggles. In fact, you get to it by running toward the solid barrier between Platforms Nine and Ten, full tilt. Instead of hitting the wall, you'll find yourself passing under a wrought iron sign that says "Platform Nine and Three Quarters." A scarlet steam engine waits there, with a string of red passenger carriages behind it, with a sign overhead saying "Hogwarts Express, 11 A.M." A guard sits near the ticket booth, monitoring the comings and goings through the portal, making sure that too many people don't do it at the same time and alarm the Muggles. On days when the train is set to leave for Hogwarts, the Platform is filled with Witches and Wizards saying good bye to their children. Cats and owls are a common sight among the crowd.

St Mungo's Hospital Founded in late 1500s or early 1600s by Mungo Bonham, St. Mungo's Hospital is located in London. The Healers at St. Mungo's are trained and equipped to treat a wide variety of magic-related illnesses and injuries. The staff wear lime green robes. The St. Mungo's emblem is a wand and a bone, crossed.
St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is reached via Purge and Dowse, Ltd. in Muggle London. Purge and Dowse, Ltd. is an red-brick, old-fashioned department store that has "Closed for Refurbishment" signs hanging on its doors. One speaks to the ugly dummy in the front window, who will nod its assent and beckon you to enter. In a process very similar to how one gets onto Platform 9 and 3/4, one walks into the window.
St. Mungo's consists of six floors. Inside the glass display window/entrance is a reception area with a floor plan.

Ministry of Magic The Ministry of Magic is the governmental authority of the Wizarding World in Britain. The basic mission of the Ministry is to keep the Muggles from finding out about an entire culture of magical folk. It's a huge, complicated, and inefficient bureaucracy, just like most governmental organizations. The Ministry has its headquarters in London. It consists of numerous Departments, Committees, Boards, and Offices whose job it is to make and enforce laws and regulations. The Ministry consists of seven departments of which the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is the largest. All of the other departments are in some way answerable to it, with the possible exception of the Department of Mysteries

Azkaban Fortress The Department of Magical Law Enforcement maintains a prison on a tiny island far out in the icy waters of the North Sea. It's called Azkaban Fortress or simply Azkaban. Azkaban is a terrible place. The prisoners there are guarded by dementors, horrible creatures who have been described as "souless fiends." They feed on positive emotions, which means that after spending much time in the prison, the prisoners lose all hope and all good feelings and thoughts. They prisoners are forced to relive the darkest, most horrible memories of their lives. Some go mad, others simply despair and die.
