Hello!
I've been waiting so long for that album! It's really a good news that Lukas decide to release it.
I've just ordered it. Now, wait and... listen.
Do you know if Alan was involved in this issue (tracks selection, booklet design, pictures ...)?
Cheers

Hi Folks,
Thanks for your interest in the CD. Alan did not have the time to participate in the production; however he and his business manager David Bifano were very kind in providing the photos of Alan from the period, getting us some interview time with Alan, and in general being truly supportive and available to help promote this side of Alan's career. And they did sign off on the design and mastering, we wanted to make sure they would like it.
Best,
Lukas

Cool to see you here, Lukas.
Now I can finally say the man behind the release how grateful I am for this disc. It is an excellent presentation of some really cool music. I also have hopes that there will be more early Silvestri scores coming from your label. Stuff like Doberman Gang/The Amazing Dobermans would be a real thrill ;)
You guys from FSM are amazing! Keep up the great work and thank you so much again! :)

You did an amazing job with CHiPs, Lukas. We are very, very thankful.
I hope to see that Fandango release becoming a reality one day. Alan's first true orchestral score. It contains some very moving and intimate music. It's a very special score to Alan and he also said a lot of good material was left out of the picture. I wouldn't be surprised if he would love to help you out with a Fandango release.
BigMacGyver - October 11, 2006 08:53 AM (GMT)
I have seen Fandango some time ago and only very few cues remained in the picture, mainly the orchestra heavy stuff was dropped such as the amazing "real men" which was certainly meant to be heard during the parachute scene. I think most of it was replaced by classical music pieces that were most certainly used as temp-track.
Fandango from FSM would be amazing but I doubt Lukas can do it in the near future because it belongs to post-1980's warner and FSM can only do titles prior to 1980. Hope it will become a possibility for the label as time goes by and re-use fees drop. It is a great score that shows a very daunting experimental side in alan's orchestral approach which is very impressive for his first shot at orchestral music. It sounds like an orchestral playground.
ESB - October 11, 2006 09:54 AM (GMT)
I'm aware that FSM is doing only titles before 1980. But is that rule set in stone? A few exceptions should be possible. You can argue that is has an "old" sound to it.
BigMacGyver - October 11, 2006 01:25 PM (GMT)
It is not a question of the sound of the score but more a production problem. Titles from before the 80s benefit from lower re-use fees. I am sure Lukas can explain it better and I am sure FSM would also look into more recent post 1980 titles if they would be able to do so.
justin boggan - October 12, 2006 03:54 PM (GMT)
It sounds "old" because of the way it was recorded; see the linear notes.
I can't believe more people aren't talking about this. I've listened to the Cd about half-a-dozen times now. :D
I only hope they don't forget the first season, and give Mike Post one of his first score CDs ever -- and his unused main theme.
Anakin McFly - October 12, 2006 06:21 PM (GMT)
I can't stop playing this CD, it's like a drug. Each track holds a new strong melody, and each melody is sooo catchy ! Thank you Lukas for producing such a wonderful soundtrack ! The sound is great tooo, 70's sound man ! :yeah:

You are right about CHiPs of course, but Emile and I were actually talking about Fandango ;)
I also can't understand why people are not talking about the CHiPs CD more. It's an amazing release which brings a special kind of nostalgia. You know, I always play this CD in the morning after getting up. The perfect energizer :D

Hi BigMacGyver,
I'm a brand new member. I go to Hofstra University and all of us in the music department always put on the new CHIPS cd. The entire tone of the cd is very upbeat and happy. I understand why you love it so much. I love the material in that cd. Only thing i noticed is the trumpet player cracked a note on the end credits. The recording i think is very good. But favorite track FAMILY CRISIS and MATCHMAKERS.

I ordered this w/ my Delta Force. I am curious by the Volume One label, is there supposed to be additional volumes?

I did not know that material from Fandango was left out.
If FSM make this release a reality somme day, I'm sure we well finally be able to hear great stuff from that early orchestral effrot from Alan. Kind of a sktech for what will come later (the BTTF Theme!).
One true hightlight (other than the music) with FSM releases is the booklet. The CHiPs cd booklet is a goldmine of anecdotes, quotes and informations. I'm sure there is a lot to say about the composing and producing of Fandango's score...
In some regards it reminds me of "silvestriesque" equivalant of Poledouris's Big Wednesday.

Much more than i expected when i watched the movie. I kept waiting for the "real men" cue and hoped it would be used during the parachute scene (which i am sure is the scene alan originally intended that cue for) but it did not came.
goomba - June 18, 2008 12:02 PM (GMT)
An other kind of music was used instead (song ?) or were the scenes just left wihtout any music ?
So, the music that is presented on the various bootlegs and teh Edel compilation present some unused stuff ?
ESB - June 18, 2008 12:04 PM (GMT)
I made sure Lukas got a copy of Fandango and I remember that he was quite positive about the score. So who knows ;)
BigMacGyver - June 18, 2008 12:20 PM (GMT)
Very good.
I am pretty sure we will see a fandango release in the future. FSM just loves releasing this kind of hidden gem.
Anakin McFly - June 18, 2008 12:51 PM (GMT)
Let's pray the god of film scores together ! :yahoo:

Well, nothing is known yet. But they named the first disc volume one, so it is not unrealistic to assume that a volume 2 will follow eventually.

Interesting. It seems like FSM doesnt do a whole lot of 80s titles but htey did UNDER FIRE and THE ACCIENTAL TOURIST, but those were simply album reissues.
Anakin McFly - June 19, 2008 05:55 AM (GMT)
Heavy Metal, Superman III and IV. :proud:

Season 2 is on DVD now, which means Season 3 can't be far behind, and hopefully a Volume 2 CD.
