Title: Best non-orchestral Silvestri score?

Out of that lot, I'd probably go for The Clan of the Cave Bear... but I prefer Silvestri when he's conducting human beings.

Well, you should maybe include Romancing the Stone. It's not a synth score, but it certainly isn't an orchestral score, since no orchestra, symphony- or otherwise, is playing. Maybe a jazzband at best.

I'd say FernGully. It has to be said once that it's an underrated and very good score. It shines especially combined with the movie images. But the catchy themes of The Delta Force, Flight of the Navigator and No Mercy are also very good.
BTW, Romancing the Stone and Summer Rental should also be mentioned in this thread of electronic scores. They are not fully electronic scores, but still. His Tales from the Crypt episodes and Amazing Stories episode were also largely electronic, but almost nobody knows them I guess
Hmm, maybe Tomb Raider 2 should also be included. But then you could also include The Long Kiss Goodnight and Mission: Impossible. If Tomb Raider 2 was included I would have definitely voted for that ultra cool score.

I think that a couple of his comedy synth scores are kind of cool:
Critical Condition - Well, the main title, really. It's such a delightful melody. The rest, I can take or leave.
Outrageous Fortune - The music is so wonderfully driving and bouncy.
Of the listed choices, I'll probably go with "No Mercy", though the theme from "Cat's Eye" is good.

And you have 8,388,607 posts?!? :omg:
Liar!!! :D
No really, I always wondered why you don't use your REAL post count, Emile.
And no, the Board Index says the Alan Silvestri forum has more than 1700 replies. Actually, when I'm writing this, the "Film Music in General" section has exactly 1000 replies.
I think you're sleeping, Emile. :D

I voted No Mercy, it's one of the few all-electronic scores of his I find quite enjoyable to listen to all along.
I'm not very fond of his "all-synth" music.
The Clan Of The Cave Bear has very good moments, but I can't listen to the whole album...
I find Delta Force too repetitve and could have been better with some accoustic instruments (real brass maybe).
FernGully is quite good, but sad that Alan didn't have the budget for some real musicians (except for some strings for the song). But the album is quite well produced, and the addition of sound effects is, for once, well integrated to enhance the listening experience, IMHO.
The only Silvestri score that I find totally unlistenabel is Cat's Eye.
I think it's a good thing not having mentionned Romancing The Stone, Summer Rental or Outrageous Fortune, because, even if they have some all-synth tracks, they are orchestral in part. One very funny Silvestri synth track is from Overboard, a faux-banjo tune which has great comedic effect (especially when repeated at high-speed :D).
But my favorite full-synth Silvestri score is not listed above, its the Zemeckis episode from Amazing Stories called Go To The Head Of The Class. Quite fun to listen to!
