Title: Alan Silvestri in Concert - Madrid in June 2007!
Description: 2nd Filmmusic Festival in Madrid, Spain

BigMacGyver - February 23, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
Rumour has it that Alan and his friend David Newman will be the special guests at this year's filmmusic festival in Madrid, Spain. As with Trevor Jones and Harry Gregson-Williams last year, concert performances of Alan's and David's music conducted by the gentlemen themselves are said to be part of the programme.

I am sure this would be a dream come true for many of us: A Silvestri concert right here in europe.

Has anyone heard anything specific about these rumours yet?

Sylvos - February 25, 2007 06:00 AM (GMT)
Really? That's gotta be exciting. A good chance to meet Alan and have a quick word. :proud: Give us the update man. I missed the Jones & Gregson-Williams show but hell I'm not gonna be missing this one! (if my crazy life permits though ;) )

I wonder what David has in store for that concert. His music rarely see an official release so there should be a lot to look forward to from him I guess.

Toby The Swede - February 25, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)
I will be there, that`s for sure. Maybe we`ll meet, who knows?

Dimitri - March 7, 2007 09:25 AM (GMT)
They will enter the concert with their families. Alan will take his but I am not sure about Dave yet and I think they will just be guests and not performing. In fact I am already excited for Daves Woodwindsconcert on 9 June in Long Beach already...

ESB - March 24, 2007 07:26 PM (GMT)

CONFIRMED

I couldn't respond to his thread earlier because I had to keep it a secret. But now I can finally officially confirm this rumour. Soncinemad has given me permission to bring the news that Alan will give a concert on June 30 in Madrid, Spain. It will start at 21:00 at the Teatro Monumental. Alan will conduct his best themes and suites for orchestra and choir.

You can register at their site (which will open soon)
http://www.soncinemad.com

I'm planning to come and I hope to see many of you Silvestri admirers there! :)

BigMacGyver - March 24, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
Amazing!!! I will be there for sure! :yahoo:

My pre-registration is already in (i hope) so not sure if I will have to register at their site again. Is there already a program for the concert that you can share?

ESB - March 24, 2007 09:00 PM (GMT)
Cool Andreas, we can meet. Soncinemad only gave the info I wrote here. I did hear some names of other composers that could give a concert, but you can read it on their site soon ;)

AlexK - March 24, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
Yes!!! :yahoo: This is a dream come true! I'll be there! :yahoo2:

Oh, and BTW: hello everybody!!

Dimitri - March 25, 2007 07:28 AM (GMT)
The other composers don't really have a site. Just Fansites ;)

Predatorfan - March 25, 2007 10:05 AM (GMT)
You know, if I just learned Spanish like my mother told me too, I could've gone too.

Dimitri - March 25, 2007 10:46 AM (GMT)
Hablar espanol no es muy dificil. Tienes que aprender un poco y puedes hablar muy bien y tambien charlar con chicas bonitas aqui :)

BigMacGyver - March 25, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, how about a Silvestri-fan forum happening? We could all come together and meet there! :)

But beware, if I get the chance and money I will rent a camera and you will all be part of a Silvestri-fan documentary ;)

Now the big question is: What booklets will you bring for Alan to sign? :D

I don't know how many are allowed there. Bringing my whole collection will make me look like a greedy bastard or a complete nerd, so here is the stuff I will bring:

Predator
Romancing The Stone
Judgment Night
Forrest Gump
Chips
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Judge Dredd
Cast Away compilation
Voyages Compilation

plus some stuff from friends and other people who want a sig.

Sylvos - March 25, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
...And "Mummy Rerturns"! Can't believe you missed that one out! ;)

Also, after all you wrote there, I thought you'd take Night At The Museum with you too. What happened? :D

BigMacGyver - March 25, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
You know, people have asked me about stuff they want to have signed because they can't be there, so I can't bring too many of my own covers otherwise those remaining 10000 people of the festival will kill me if I stand there, holding up everything and have him signing all that stuff! :omg:

Well, actually you are right, TMR is a must but so is The Abyss or Mouse Hunt and BTTF!

Maybe I should really take all my covers with me... just hope the crowd won't get mad

Sylvos - March 25, 2007 03:20 PM (GMT)
Might as well take a body armor with ya too, if that be the case. It may come handy when Alan's busy signing your stuff. Oh and take spare pens too! :D

goomba - March 25, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
that's outstanding news !!!
I missed Poledouris concert last year, and he "was", along with Silvestri, among my favorite composers... And I can't think that I'll miss Silvestri this time... unfortunately, I won't be able to take some days off...
I've never been to a signing event, and if I can make my way to Madrid , I think I'll take the Predator & Who Framed Roger Rabbit (first pressing) covers in priority!
More suprising for Silvestri maybe: a bottle of wine for him to sign

What pieces of music would you like to hear performef live ?
I'd like to hear The Clock Tower from BTTF, the Main Title & Building A Trap from Predator, the love theme from THe Mummy Returns, Who Framed Roger Rabbit End Credits,a suite from Super Mario Bros. featuring the Princess Daisy's theme...

:music: Moby Dick Christopher Gordon

There's too much to choose from. Super Mario Bros would be cool but I am not sure he will include that because the movie was such a gigantic failure.

I am sure he will include the evergreens like Forrest Gump, Back To The Future, Cast Away maybe even Predator and I really hope he will include Judge Dredd, The Abyss, The Mummy Returns and Siegfried & Roy.

However, what I really hope for is a suite from Beowulf! Yeah, I hope he will premiere a suite of this new score at the concert. That would be a thrill!

goomba - March 25, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
You're right about a Beowulf suite !
In fact I listed pieces of music I would like to hear live but that I don't necessarily think that could make it in the concert hall for obvious reasons (commercial failure). But Trevor Jones last year conducted some pieces of music relatively obscure... Maybe Alan will also try to feature some stuff he personally like a lot. Why not an orchestral arrangement o his music for Two Soldiers ? (I didn't get to hear this one)

BigMacGyver - March 25, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
Yeah some more obscure selections would be cool. Two Soldiers earned aaron schneider an academy award and Alan seems to have a strong emotional connection with this score. I also just hear good things about the film and music, so it could be an obvious choice. I remember reading that it featured fine guitar solos which would give the concert lots of colour.

My fingers are crossed for Siegfried & Roy which is a masterpiece (swamp incident is a must for a concert) and maybe he will also include Fandango which is one of his personal favourites.

Arrgh... I forgot the polar express! :D

Predatorfan - March 25, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
God, it seems like I'm going to have to miss this one and it's so close.
The money is mainly the problem since I spend almost everything on my snowboarding trip. :/
Back to the Future (live) :yahoo: The Mummy Returns, The Abyss, Predator... everything.
Well it's not so far yet but I doubt it if I can make it.

Soncinemad 2007’s events will begin with a very special film music concert tribute to all our guests and with the orchestra performing suites from the Soncinemad 2007 panelists’ best works introduced and led by Christopher Young, Honorary President of Soncinemad, who will also present some of his music as part of an Extraordinary concert the 29th June.

Our first installment of the Soncinemad festival last year in Madrid was led by two warmly-embraced and celebrated symphonic concerts which featured Harry Gregson-Williams and Trevor Jones respectively, the later also released as a highly successful double CD commercial release. The whole of Soncinemad’s events also included seminars and conferences with media coverage, guests, speakers and panelists, including Hans Zimmer , Christopher Young and Dario Marianelli.

Over 4,000 fans, composers and film music professionals attended the festival and embraced our efforts with particular warmth and support.

Our additional task at the moment is working on confirming the attendance of a particularly strong additional line-up of composers, both from Europe and North America. The already-confirmed team of composers is very impressive but all the names of the attendants along with the seminars’ schedule will be shortly announced.

All the attendants will benefit from special accommodation discounts in specific hotels which will be exclusive to Soncinemad’s guests and located straight in the heart of Madrid, right next to the afore-mentioned Soncinemad places of activities.

God it's like I've died and I'm ready to go to heaven, except I'll have to miss the train. :/ :(

What's the price for registering and what's the price of a ticket to Spain? Just out of curiousity. It's not that I can make it all of a sudden. :(

Demetris Christodoulides - March 29, 2007 05:21 AM (GMT)
Price of registering will be announced soon, the vip ticket which covered all last year was 120 euros. I don't know how much it'll be this year, will let you know asap.
As for the other expenses, http://www.expedia.com/ or http://www.kayak.com/ should help you get the idea.

BigMacGyver - May 20, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
Oh that's very cool! So we will hear newly arranged suites of his scores! Oh man, I can't wait to hear this!

Hey demetris, is there a chance that Alan will release the performance on CD as Trevor Jones did with his? I heard that the micro-setup and all that during the performance is very modern for allowing live airing on spanish tv.

CDUMAS - May 21, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
I would love to see it on TV, or better yet, maybe they will put it on DVD. :yahoo:

Predatorfan - May 21, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)

VERY good choices with the music! Everything I would choose is there. I'm especially thrilled to see that "Judge Dredd" has been chosen.

I also see that Alan will give a bit of Spanish flavour to his concert with "The Quick and the Dead" and "Fools Rush In" :D

Predatorfan - May 30, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
And I can't be there. :tears:

BigMacGyver - May 30, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Amazing selection already!

And there will be even more :omg:

Where is the mexican :D

Demetris Christodoulides - May 30, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
I am dying to listen to CAST AWAY live!!!!!!

BigMacGyver - May 30, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
I hear you, demetris! :yahoo:

Actually I am dying to hear all of this great music live!

I wonder how Van Helsing will be arranged since there are no synths or electronics as there were in the score. Certainly will give the music a different touch.

CDUMAS - May 30, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
uggg!! I can't go to that. Will it be filmed? :hmm:

I think they will do very well (even Zimmer has his equipment at concerts) and have a computer there in this special case.
This Guitar will be hard to play. If there is a live Guitar they cue will be slowed done veeery much!:D

ESB - June 3, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
I heard that the concert will be fully symphonic. Alan has no plans to record the concert, but maybe Soncinemad has? Demetris, can you tell us more about that?
