2nd INSTALLMENT OF SONCINEMAD GETS UNDERWAY; THE HEART OF FILM MUSIC BEATS ONCE AGAIN IN MADRID, SPAIN. SUMMER 2007.

March 13, 2007. The Soncinemad Organizing Committee is thrilled to officially announce the 2nd Madrid Film Music Festival (SONCINEMAD 2007), part 2 of the annual Soncinemad film music festival, taking place this summer in Madrid, Spain.

Last year met our successful debut with the first Soncinemad, a cultural innovation which was born out the idea to gather in Madrid soundtrack lovers from around the world for the duration of the three-days it lasted, congregating everyone under our common and shared passion for an aspect so little exploded, film music.

Through your amazingly warm and intense support, Soncinemad 2006 was a tremendous success and an unforgettable experience for everyone involved; film music fans, composers, journalists and area professionals.

Led by the two brilliant symphonic concerts of the particularly well-known and respected film music composers Harry Gregson Williams and Trevor Jones - the later also published by Trevor Jones as a luxurious and highly successful double-CD release entitled “Trevor Jones / RTVE Orchestra of Madrid Symphonic Concert” – and completed by the singularly interesting and informative seminars and press conferences held by our composers and special guests such as Roque Baños, Lucio Godoy, Christopher Young, Dario Marianelli, Trevor Jones, Hans Zimmer with Harry Gregson Williams and renowned professionals like the “Hot House” music company, but also enriched with special screenings, movie workshops and a special Lisbeth Scott concert, last year’s Soncinemad was a thrilling ride.

We are honored to invite you to join us in our trip to those special days through our trailer which can be viewed in Soncinemad’s official website, at:

http://www.soncinemad.com

Your warm support from the very beginning and all the way through the whole festival along with the high level of success from last year, are adequate enough reasons for us to return with SONCINEMAD 2007.

The 2007 festival will be held during the dates of June the 29th, 30th and July the 1st, 2007 in the city of Madrid, Spain. One of Europe’s biggest cinema halls, the “Kinepolis” with a seating capacity of 1000 and the legendary “Monumental Theater”, right in the heart of the city of Madrid, will host our 3-day activities which will include (among other soon to be announced-events) two symphonic concerts with prestigious and professional orchestra and choir, conferences and seminars with well-known film music composers throughout the entire 3-day duration of the festival, disc signing sessions during the afternoons and many more surprises.

All the attendants will benefit from special accommodation discounts in the Festival Hotel which will be exclusive to Soncinemad’s guests and located right next to the afore-mentioned Soncinemad places of activities.

So what about the rumours saying Silvestri and newman will be there and conducting concerts? When they really come I would like to bring some good video equipment to tape their performances if that's allowed. But I would need to organize this way in advance ;)

And there are all these booklets I would like to have signed :D

edit: Okay i have just watched the trailer for the 2007 festival and it ends with the predator opening fanfare. I will take that as a confirmation ;)

Hey demetris

I have pre-registered via email but never received any sort of confirmation that my pre-registration was actually successful. There was no email, nothing.

Now I wonder what the pre-registration is good for? Is it a pre-registration for the vip card? That point is not clear to me yet.

ALAN SILVESTRI LEADS SONCINEMAD 2007 WITH WORLD EXCLUSIVE SYMPHONIC CONCERT. MADRID, SPAIN, SUMMER 2007

March 27, 2007. The Soncinemad Organizing Committee is particularly honored to announce the apical event of Soncinemad 2007; world-famous American composer ALAN SILVESTRI will conduct his own film music under a special symphonic concert which will crown the 2nd Soncinemad film music festival of Madrid, Spain, June the 29th to July the 1st, 2007.

Silvestri will head a world-exclusive symphonic concert for full orchestra and choir with the repertoire covering a large part of his best, most beloved and memorable works to date.

The Soncinemad Organizing committee is thrilled and extremely honored by the presence of Alan Silvestri in Madrid this summer for a world-premiere performance of his career’s best moments, a spectacular concert and an amazing experience to be for everyone involved.

Alan Silvestri and his family are the festival’s apex and our principal supporting source; something which flatters and honors us but also renders us through intense and careful preparations for the festivals’ perfect conducting.

Alan Silvestri is currently putting together the program for the concert, an evidently difficult task while the composer’s long-time career covers vast grounds and there is an amazing variety of impressive scores to choose from for the concert. Silvestri’s most known credits under his filmography include Forrest Gump, the Back to the Future trilogy, Cast Away, Contact, Predator, The Mummy Returns, Van Helsing, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Abyss and Identity.

Soncinemad 2007’s events will begin with a very special film music concert tribute to all our guests and with the orchestra performing suites from the Soncinemad 2007 panelists’ best works introduced and led by Christopher Young, Honorary President of Soncinemad, who will also present some of his music as part of an Extraordinary concert the 29th June.

Our first installment of the Soncinemad festival last year in Madrid was led by two warmly-embraced and celebrated symphonic concerts which featured Harry Gregson-Williams and Trevor Jones respectively, the later also released as a highly successful double CD commercial release. The whole of Soncinemad’s events also included seminars and conferences with media coverage, guests, speakers and panelists, including Hans Zimmer , Christopher Young and Dario Marianelli.

Over 4,000 fans, composers and film music professionals attended the festival and embraced our efforts with particular warmth and support.

Our additional task at the moment is working on confirming the attendance of a particularly strong additional line-up of composers, both from Europe and North America. The already-confirmed team of composers is very impressive but all the names of the attendants along with the seminars’ schedule will be shortly announced.

All the attendants will benefit from special accommodation discounts in specific hotels which will be exclusive to Soncinemad’s guests and located straight in the heart of Madrid, right next to the afore-mentioned Soncinemad places of activities.
