After Chris was fired from Disney's American Dog, he will now direct the cavemen comedy Crood Awakenings for DreamWorks Animation according to comingsoon.net.

QUOTE
Crood Awakenings, which is about a culture clash between cavemen, has a script by British comedy icon John Cleese and Kirk De Micco (Racing Stripes). Sanders is rethinking the project, however, and will likely end up doing a significant rewrite.

Should development go well, "Crood" would likely come out in late 2010 or 2011.

We know Sanders is a total Silvestri fan, so this could be their next colaboration if everything goes well. The plot sounds funny too. Kind of reminds me of Clan of the Cave Bear, so it will be interesting to see how Alan will handle this similar topic musically. 3-4 years is a long wait until we can find that out though. These things really take a lot of time.

That would be great! I would love to hear another score like Lilo and Stitch. The massive action moments. Then underscored by playful yet emotional music. Even if Alan is busy i would like to see David Newman, John Debney, or Randy Edelman score it.

aintitcool.com offers a comparison between the new and old look of the film.

If you asked me, the changes are quite shocking. I can't really see any difference now between this and all these other talking animals films from pixar, dreamworks and co. don't want to smash the flick in advance but it seems that a lot of personality went away with Sanders. Really sad. But hey, the project still has no composer attached, so maybe we can cross our fingers that Alan will be hired to do it. Heres hope.
