Title: Back To The Future from Intrada?
Description: Look at the latest clues!
BigMacGyver - February 5, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
Back in december when alien came out and intrada surprised filmmusic fans with this totally unexpected holy grail release, doug indicated that the next comparably "ambitious" title would be due early in 2008 already.
As it looks now, this particular ambitious one is shaping up as Back To The Future. That's what the following known facts about the release indicate:
From Doug's Corner:

I'm taking a short breather during one of those ambitious projects. The composer's here, we've got mixes and remixes, multiple takes up the wazoo, you get the idea.
The composer is alive and participating actively on the release. Alan has said multiple times that he would love to have a decent release of BTTF and he also has participated on some releases before such as FSM's chips or intradas own judgment night.

There's a big orchestra in it. Okay, and the movie was a big hit. Actually, the orchestra is really big - there are multiple tuba parts and even stuff for baritone horn players - as well as ninety other musicians. (How sad they all get mixed down to just two channels!) Now it's time for bed. I wanna make sure I check the right box when I vote in the morning.
BTTF had the largest orchestra ever assembled for a universal production at the time with over 90 musicians, so it certainly makes sense that Doug points out this aspect of the score as something special. Furthermore, BTTF was a huge box office hit.
Intrada seems to have forged a strong business relationship with the people at amblin and universal music and re-use fees rates for archival releases seem to have been lowered as well according to robert townson's description of the burbs expanded release, so all that enhances the chance of a bttf release even more.
However, according to roger we may still have a couple more months to wait until we know it for sure:

I wouldn't spend too much time trying to guess, you don't have enough information to venture anything but a random guess. This one is months away from release anyway.

Alright! Fingers crossed for BTTF then! Man, if there are two Silvestri scores that I really want to own in complete, one is BTTF and the other being Polar Express. I hope PE gets the recognition it deserves someday soon.
Thanks for the heads up Andreas!

Roger just denied that these clues are pointing towards a BTTF release... however, take into account that the release is still months away and that they may try to keep things under wraps a bit longer. That also was the case with wind and the lion and alien, where people guessed the title correctly and the intrada folks more or less directly denied it.
However, whatever it will be... its going to be another great release and i can't wait to find out what it is!

It's Bruce Broughton's "Blue & The Gray". A Broughton score is, of course, always welcome but...

No, the clues i mentioned earlier are concerning a release that is still months away as was indicated by doug fake on the board. It's also pretty obvious from the clues because none of them fits the recent releases. Blue and the gray was no movie at all and the chuck norris movie was hardly a big hit ;)
It's still coming! :yahoo:
I am guessing it will probably be announced 2 or 3 months away from now.

He also denied "Alien", so...

seems those clues were for WAR GAMES.
a pity.
BigMacGyver - May 20, 2008 07:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah, a pity but still, i think intrada is the label that can make it happen. They have even cracked disney now, so theres hardly anything they can't achieve ;)
Maybe not today but back in the future definitely ;)
justin boggan - May 20, 2008 06:48 PM (GMT)
Sort of; they cracked Touchstone Pictures, a subsidiary company of disney.

I'm happy for Wargames anyway. It deserved a proper release just as much as BTTF !
