In honor of composer Brian Tyler's Birthday, today, May 8, 2008, I thought we could look back on some of his scores and talk about them. I'll start! -Timeline-
A great score and one of my favorite Tyler action scores. my favorite tracks are the main titles, battlefield revealed and troops in the fog, for starters.
I love the score he has done for: tokyo drift, timeline, avp-r, and so on...
i would love to work with him one day, he is amazing.
Brian Tyler is by far my favorite composer. I love the scores he did for "Partition" and "The Greatest Game Ever Played". "Partition" is a lush, beautiful score that incorporates middle eastern instruments. "The Greatest Game Ever Played" fit that movie so well. Great film and great music. Full of energy....I listen to it often and it never gets old.
I also love "Timeline" and "The Children of Dune".....both great epic scores. AVP2 would fit into this category as well as "Constantine".
I also enjoy his scores to "WAR", and "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift". Fast paced and full of energy. Both have that electronic/techno element to them.....and I love his percussion writing for both scores and how he incorporates the full orchestra with it all.
I think his most interesting score would be "Bug". Very experimental......
I also enjoy "Frailty", "The Final Cut", and "Papparazi".
And for something that is little different then his full orchestral scores you can listen to: "Six String Samarai" or "Bubba Hotep".
He is definetely a very talented man. I keep waiting for him to really get the big film....you know the one that will propel him to the upper level of Hollywood composers. I think it is just a matter of time before that happens.
I own every score that has been released thus far, and I am always waiting in anticipation for his music to be released on CD.
I agree with jdoss, but one of my favorites was completely overlooked, Annapolis! Probably my favorite action-ish score (its more melodic than Toyko Drift or WAR.)
Timeline, Children of Dune and Partition are my three favorite Tyler scores with Annapolis right behind.
