Title: Earwigs! Themes that wont get out of your mind.

I have a very strange earwig at the moment. Horners Theme from Troy. The theme is so simple but it just wont get out of my head. Strange, isnt it? Troy is not such a good score and i dont know Yareds rejected version, but horner's theme for horns completely did it with me. Van Helsing for example didnt achieve that (lol, sorry but i cant do much about it).
Very very weird  .

What are your earwigs at the moment?

Which is funny because I sing Yared's diffrent and very well developed themes all the time! iT's so much better then Horners nice theme (one theme only) and his danger motif

Well i havent heard Yared's rejected score so i cant tell unfortunately.

One theme only in horners troy score? I guess you mean it is the only good theme in his score, beside the other 5 themes.

I think according to the circumstances horner had to deal with, the score is excellent. It could have easily been very bad, but horner surprised me a little bit.

One 'nice' theme, yes. There are several others of course. Overall not a bad score, though. I can appreciate a Horner score, I don't hate the man, but as anyone always says, his good days passed by a long time ago.

Considering the time issue, I think Horner has done a good job. The song is pretty lousy, though...

I like his scores for Apollo 13, The Land Before Time, Aliens and the two Star Trek movies most. Compared with these, Troy is only so-so, thought not the big self-rip-off i expected. Maybe he has discovered a new source of inspiration and we will hear better scores from him in the future? That would be great.

I also don't hate him, but sometimes it is pretty obvious that he recycles old material. Of course this business his hard and it is not easy to compose more than 70 minutes of music that sound unique for every new picture.

Well, i guess he will find back to his creativity soon.

Woow, something about Horner. One of my other favorites. Well not much I know of him. He did Land Before Time, Jumanji, Titanic, Windtalkers and Troy. Didn't pay attention to it on Troy, didn't like the movie actually which is a damn pity because for once I noticed how good they've acted. It was so good acted but umm... where's the action? I expected 10-minute long battlescenes. Further on I like Horner another composer from which you can identify to music from. He always uses higher strings. If the tones are high, that's him.
