Title: JNH site updated

ESB - October 8, 2005 08:13 AM (GMT)
This is a thread in which I will keep people updated about changes to my James Newton Howard site. In other words things that don't wind up in the news section.

Full detailed album credits are now included on every album page in the discography. Also interesting for getting an idea about how James' team evolved through the years.

Direct links to GEMM or MusicStack have been included for James' very rare releases like his 1974 solo LP or the China LP. MusicStack even had a copy of the insanely rare 5 Corners CD, although it is $375! :ouch: Luckily I'm already a proud owner of that CD :proud:

I also included the short story James wrote for his 1974 solo album:

"fryings that left me a little burnt " and "rabid associations"? :D

For people that didn't notice it yet, I've put up an album page of a very rare ER promo a while ago:

Only for JNH completists I guess because I can't imagine James was behind those dreadful dance versions of the theme where the theme is practically musically raped. Also, very little of the theme is included in those club mixes.

I'm not interested for only 3 min but it's interesting that this promo exist.

I've uploaded a video clip where James shows us how he scores Space Jam in an educational TV program "The Eddie Files"

I also received a VHS tape from one of the makers of the TV program "The Score" where James was interviewed with director Taylor Hackford in 2002. Wonderful show! James played a beautiful piece live on the piano from Everybody's All-American. A remarkable and funny thing was that the host Phil Ramone indirectly helped James to get into the film music business by hiring him as a song writer on the Taylor Hackford film "White Nights" in 1984 (Ramone was the music producer on that film)

See the TV shows section on the offline publications page on the JNH site for more info about "The Eddie Files" and "The Score".

I also found out that James was briefly interviewed (maybe 20 - 30 sec.) on the Wyatt Earp DVD. It also shows a bit of footage of the scoring sessions. I think this is his youngest video interview (1994).

I found all this to be interesting stuff :)

Thank you Emile!

The video clip from Space Jam is great. I like when he plays at the piano, some chase music, romantic and scary, hehe so nice :D.

Yeah it was meant for young children. So that is why James speaks a bit playful about the composing process.

I've made a photos page on the JNH site, which can be found through the bio page. It features some rare photos of James. Here's the direct link:

An album page of the soundtrack for "Everybody's All-American" (1988) has been added to the site. It contains 1 song that James co-wrote with Alan's friend Glen Ballard and that contains the theme from the film:
