I just heard that James is working on Peter Jackson's King Kong!

Lee - October 14, 2005 07:16 AM (GMT)
:omg:  :dancing:
Great!
But what happened with Howard Shore?
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 07:20 AM (GMT)
I can't see it anyhere! :(
Wooooooooooooooooooooooow!!! This would be so hohohoho :D

Me too. :yahoo2:
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 07:32 AM (GMT)
Hey James, please use many crazy Brass-thrillings, and Percussions like in The Interpreter, Water World and The Postman together!
But also Choir!!!! hohohohoh only if I imagine the Trailer and then James Music-... :music: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
BigMacGyver - October 14, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
Weird. I can't find this news anywere. To which degree is James involved in the project? Did they reject Shore's score? Will James be re-scoring some scenes? Where exactly on that site can i find the news?
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 11:02 AM (GMT)
This was also a big question of me!....Where??? :right:
BigMacGyver - October 14, 2005 11:03 AM (GMT)
I guess Emile received News from James agents and just wanted to post a link to the film though that gives this news a weird appearance.
The news seems to spread fast and there's already a threat on JWfan.net. For those users who come from there:
This is certainly not imdb rumour because Emile is in contact with both JNH and Silvestri. Don't be fooled by the term "unofficial".
Stefancos - October 14, 2005 11:03 AM (GMT)
So were did you hear this are are you sure they didn't mistake James Newton Howard for Howard Shore?
;)
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 11:09 AM (GMT)
I am also a bit sceptical about the ''officiality''of this news....I hate it if there are news and you can't proof them... <_<
So in fact after my hyperness I should stay sceptical for now till a big filmmusic website opens this news as official!
Lee - October 14, 2005 11:13 AM (GMT)
I trust Emile. We know him, he wouldn't give us the news if it wasn't official. Remember people was sceptical when Emile told us that James was scoring Batman Begins.
BigMacGyver - October 14, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
It is also important to note that he said "working on" and NOT "replaced Howard Shore". We have no idea what exactly this means yet.
My guess would be that James is just re-scoring a scene or two because Shore was not able to do it for reasons unknown.
Lets hope this is not going to be another Spiderman 2 scoring disaster.
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 11:25 AM (GMT)
Hopefully JNH does the whole score.....King Kong would be so amazing for him...Ithink Howard Shore would compose the score abit to overrated after his sucess on The Lord of the Rings....
But yeah you are right BigMacGyver these are two different couple of shoes....
But working on could also be another kind of replacing just another meaning of sentence....
I believe Emile, but if the news would have been official, Emile would have told more detailed informations..I am sure...
Pogel - October 14, 2005 12:03 PM (GMT)
Wow, this seems to be the week of odd news.
Again, major grain'o'salt... ;)
Demetris Christodoulides - October 14, 2005 01:47 PM (GMT)
What happened here? There was a video out as well, having Howard Shore and Peter Jackson talking about the recording sessions with the orchestra, and feeds from that events as well…
Anakin McFly - October 14, 2005 04:27 PM (GMT)
What's happening ? Shore could have been replaced ? :?
Toby The Swede - October 14, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
Or is it as simple as just an "additional score"? Maybe Shore had too little time so JNH was hired to fill in the spots? It could be possible but ESB knows more than we so don`t let us be anymore on the stretchband
ESB - October 14, 2005 06:45 PM (GMT)
Believe me guys, this is the real thing. The news is very fresh, so I guess that's why nobody has yet published something about it. It's not a secret that I have direct contact with JNH Studios and they told me literally that James is now working on Peter Jackson's King Kong ;) I wasn't told if Howard Shore was replaced, but I guess so.
BigMacGyver - October 14, 2005 06:53 PM (GMT)
What a sudden twist of events!
I thought i could get used to this kind of "score rejection news" but if this really means that shore was replaced then it is a real surprise.
ESB - October 14, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
Dan has run away with the news
http://www.soundtrack.net/news/article/?id=670He confirms that Shore has been replaced.
Anyway, this is so exciting. I really admire Peter Jackson for what he did with the LotR films. Just imagine if James will become his steady composer...
Lee - October 14, 2005 06:58 PM (GMT)
http://www.soundtrack.net/news/article/?id=670But Emile was first and I told you guys that he is right.
ESB - October 14, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Haha. Just read the JWFan.net board. Some kind of snobbish idiots were making fun of us and look who's laughing now
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
..what was this topic about young unknown composers getting the best movies again?...
We wished it and we have it!!!!
THE BEST NEWS OF THE WHOLE YEAR FOR ME!!! Thanks PETER!

That's so exciting! Wow, I will NEVER doubt you again, Emile :D
(not that I ever did ... )
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
I am so nervous, guys!
Imagine all these percussions he used in The Interpreter, Waterworld (!) and The Postman and then his Choir in Snow is Falling on Cedars, His action in Dinosaur!!!! Great! :D
The best News...I could hug everyone!
Just Imagine this marvellous Boat Journey-scene and then his Music hohoho!
ESB - October 14, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
Seeing the King Kong trailer, I guess it's time for James to call in Lebo M. again.
Dimitri - October 14, 2005 07:41 PM (GMT)
Yes on some sequences....and don't dare to say it's a Hans Zimmer rip off again!!!
The most funny thing is - now we are kind of more interested in the movie and thisis so cool.....a dreamproject! A God...help me not to get into running from one plays to another... :D
Antineutrino - October 14, 2005 08:07 PM (GMT)
It would be interesting to know how many death threats James Horner would have gotten if he had taken over King Kong... :D

Ouwe pik? Excuse me?! Is that a tasteless insult in Dutch to me Stefancos, being a poor loser or is it a poor joke?
Stefancos - October 14, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
:D
Just playing with you Sir, no desire to seriously offend you, your GF would tear me apart .
As for being snobs, well yeah, I mean we ARE on a forum dedicated to the BEST living film composer of all time.
Did you know if you add up all of Howard's and Silvestri's Oscar wins and combined them, Williams would still have 5 more than them.

Good that the oscar is no indicator for what is good or bad or who is the better artist but yeah, Williams music is great though that does not mean that other composers can't compose equally impressive scores.
Greg1138 - October 14, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
Indeed.......
Sorry - despite the fact that my car numberplate is S*** JNH, I just don't buy this.....the official site still has Shore's name attached.....until it is announced there I'm afraid it is mere moonshine.....
Should've asked Williams anyway....he must have a spare week or two to knock out a masterpiece in between Geisha and Munich...
;)
ESB - October 14, 2005 08:44 PM (GMT)
Okay Stefancos, good to see you're not one of those rude mental cases we sometimes have over here. I also think Williams is a brilliant composer, but I'm a bit more attracted to the modern and diverse sound of JNH and Silvestri. But that's of course a matter of personal taste. Anyway, I think James deserves a big break like this.
Stefancos - October 14, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
Dan at Soundtrack.net is USUALLY a credible source, and i'm sure the moderator of this place would not have posted this if he had a good indication of this being factual.
But that still does not make it an official announcement.
So we shall see.
ALAN SILVESTRI RULES!!!
ESB - October 14, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
Just believe it guys. I run James-Newton-Howard.com AND have met James at his studios AND I'm really in contact with them at JNH Studios AND they really told me directly that he is scoring it :D
BigMacGyver - October 14, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
There is a building panic on all message boards.
Wow, i guess the fan response would have been similar if Spielberg rejected Williams music.
Pogel - October 14, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
Interesting stuff there

True, Mr. Goldsmith sadly passed on. And Maurice Ravel never composed for films. ;)

Hey, if we are talking about statistics, JW has LOST the oscar about 3 times more often than both James and Alan together :D
