CIFF - 1st CYPRUS INT’L FILM FESTIVAL, Limassol, 24-27 March, 2006
CALL FOR ENTRIES – deadline: 31st of January, 2006.


Invitation of interest for attendance with regular, feature films or short films (Details follow below) in the Cyprus International Film Festival, taking place in Limassol and Larnaca, Cyprus between the 24th and 27th of March, 2006. Period of submission of attendances is the 28/11/2005 - 31/01/2006, with last date and expiry of submission of applications being the 31/01/2006.

Along with the DVD copy of the film.

• Because this is the first CIFF, there are no restrictions as long the date of production of film.
• Also there is no cost of attendance and there can be submitted more than one film, as long as the authors consider that they’re the best and most representative choices from their whole work.
• All the attendances will be examined by a committee as for their probabilities of integration in the program of festival.

Information on the festival:

“1st CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL” takes place in 2 cities (Limassol & Larnaca, 24-27 March 2006), almost one year and a half after the Olympics in Athens 2004, thanks to its framework, operates throughout the year presenting the most interesting films ďf young film-makers, plus tributes to great filmmakers and programs dedicated to contemporary film & video production from around the world related to dialogue among civilizations.

CIFF is the first internationally oriented film festival which offers new and upcoming directors in multiple sectors of entertainment (such as commercials, music videos, documentaries, short films and
feature films) with an opportunity to showcase their talent before a jury of internationally
acclaimed directors and actors and be awarded with the "GOLDEN APHRODITE" and a
cash prize. Equally unique is the condition that these cash prizes must be utilized for their
next project and spent in Cyprus.

Film Market mainly consist of a small number of important international sales companies and selected buyers from Eastern Europe, st1:place>Middle East, Greece and all Mediterranean countries, will be invited to attend a BUYERS AND SELLERS section of CIFF.

FILM CATEGORIES OF THE FESTIVAL:

I. FILMS IN COMPETITION:
- FEATURE FILMS (120 minutes max. length
- MUSIC VIDEOS (up to 3 minutes)
- TV commercial (up to 60 seconds)
- DOCUMENTARY (up to 60 minutes)
- SHORT FILMS (up to 30 minutes)
- VIDEO ART (up to 30 minutes)

II. CULT - MIDNIGHT MOVIES

III. EF AGONIZESTHE - FAIR PLAY with films with sports genre

IV. NOSTIMON IMAR - with films of Greek film directors who live abroad

V. HOMAGE - "MICHAEL CACOYANNIS"

Another important activity is a series of educational programs which aspire to form a new generation of film viewers and familiarize the young audiences with the technique and art of filmmaking.
Apart from the main festival, other important activities will be added to the CIFF permanent calendar: various cultural events as theatre, music, heritage, exhibitions, sports, conventions -related to
the educational program previously mentioned.

In its endeavour, the Festival will establish a close collaboration with various local and international cultural institutions, with cultural, educational and social organizations, as well as with embassies and
foreign cultural institutions worldwide.
