We still don't have that series here! When Monarch of the Glen and Bad Girls first started, they used to alternate on channel one. A series of Monarch, a series of bg. But after series 3 or so they started spacing them out more. Series 5 of BG finished in about october '03 and we were promised series 6 in '04. But we didn't get it till about febuary '05. Now that has finished, I'm not holding my breath for either of them anymore... although Monarch s6 should be here soon.

I was looking back at some of the older articles, and Simone actually says she thinks this was a good time to start a family, as other characters had their pregnancies incorporated.... *grrrr*
Have to confess I hardly ever watched her in MotG when it was on..... Bits I did see were nice though - so enjoy Gerli! Smile
Eileen - isn't there some site or something that will tell you if and when it will come to your shores?? *ponders*

I guess I could try emailing TVNZ. But last time I did that they lied and said that series 6 of BG would *definately* start before october last year and we didn't get it until feb this year. Crying or Very sad

I guess I will get over it... with time.

In all fairness, I do think Simone also recognised it perhaps wasn't the best place to be filming..... Having been in the area (which is absolutely gorgeous and we are planning to get back!) - its not that easy to travel around. Lack of transport links would be a huge concern when you consider Simone isn't that *ahem* young anymore, so perhaps would have to be more considerate to possible complications with the nearest big hospital in Inverness...... quite some distance!

A shame but overall, one decision that probably wasn't such a bad one in the long run for her.

What I find funny is some of the interviews from when she first started Monarch. Interviewers would ask her if she wanted a family and she would say things like: "A few people have said that if you ever want to get pregnant, then this is the job. A lot of people have become pregnant on this series, and I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem if it happened to me. It's probably a good time, and the family's on hand to babysit! It just hasn't happened yet. It will happen when it happens."

Little did she know that 12 months later she would be having a baby. Laughing

After watching MOTG on bbc canada, I'm really happy Simone won't be back on the program. That show is beyond boring, and silly...her talents were completely wasted on there.

Why you say so??? An actress needs to play different parts and even when the hole movie or serial is not good or interesting then it doesn`t mean that Simone don`t play her part well....but I agree that this serial is not the best....but it`s interesting to watch her doing those works in her farm or the place she lives....I thing it was a great experience to her....and I think she needed some alternation Wink

Simone doesn't appear in Monarch of the Glen until series 6, but I'm pretty sure she's in every episode in series 6.

I ordered BBC America from my cable company just so I could watch Monarch of the Glen and let me just say, she's not in it enough (of course she could be in it for the entire hour and it wouldn't be enough for me)

It all depends on what your version of crap is, we all have different tastes and views. I personally really enjoyed series 6 with Simone in it. I hadnt watched it before.

The thing with MOTG - is that its a show people either tend to love or hate.

I've always loved it because its never been a serious drama - often showing characters I could honestly say I've met the likes of in the countryside we were brought up in (Scotland it might not have been, but they are still the same kind of personality).

Basically it has never taken itself seriously and while its called a drama - its more what I would classify as a light hearted general series. And in that mold, I think it fits perfectly - and I also loved Simone's role in it - as I did with Tom Baker's role.

Now - if you want really dire......... FAMILY! Yuck! Terrible and even Simone couldn't salvage it! And frankly I thought her accent was far from perfect. At least in Fallen it was believable.

Monarch is really light and eye-rollerish at times. But I think that is why I love it. Laughing It's just completely different from anything else I watch.

Although it never was the same without Hector and Archie, and now Lexie and Duncan?

I loved Series 6, i only watchd it because Simone was in it :wub: it was the only series of Monarch i watchd. I loved the interplay between Paul and Isobel, there was plenty of funny moments between them, but the one that sticks in my head is when Isobel tries to pay Paul her rent and he says he doesnt want her money and he's sure they can work something out, and she says in a Yorkshire accent: "Hey love, i dont need your brass, we can work summit out, nudge nudge" I dont know wether its meant to be funny, but i just love that line.
