Great stuff - the region 1 release has subtitles!!! *Does a little dance and pats region free PS2* Laughing
Now I'll just have to wait for it to get cheaper once again.... *grins*
I wonder if anyone over across the way would swap for a region 2 version.... ho hum...

OMG - We didn't realise Region one had subtitles! We heard there was some kind of 'slang' dictionary included - which makes sense when you think about it!

About time some subtitles were put on the DVD's. I wonder if future series 2 editions might now also include them? Would make sense if R1 are doing it - and boost sales for them again!

I have series 1 with subtitles and it does help. I know english is english, but this American had a hard time with the accents and the softness of the voices from time to time and then again there's the use of words like snog, jellies, etc. that I had no idea what they meant.

I got series 1-5 on ebay (region 2), but when series one was released in the US I thought it would be interesting to watch with subtitles, I will admit that I fast forward to only the Helen and Nikki stuff.

Hey OWH! Very Happy *waves*
Have to agree with you - I admit I sometimes fast forward through until we get to the H&N bits... but then I do like the other story lines, esp with Linda Henry!
So would you recommend buying it then? There aren't as much features are there?

No I wouldn't recommend buying it, there's no outtakes and the interviews are just printed text, no Simone or Mandana talking like in the UK version. Only buy it if you really want the subtitles.

Where are you located?

That's really wierd - why take so long to produce it when it doesn't have the full extra content?! Hmm....
Am in the UK. I already have the region 2 boxes of the first 3 seasons, but would really like them with subbies!
Do you have any idea when Season 2 & 3 are going to come out over there?

I heard it was going to be another year for series 2, but I just read that on a different message board so I don't know for sure.

Does your DVD player play region 1 DVD's?

Yep - well, it's a PS2 with a region free disc, but works well!
Bummer about the long delay... but maybe they will then do the extras as well? *Doesn't hold breath*!!

the subtitles are nice, especially for us silly yanks. though i am proud to say that i've only needed to use 'em once or twice. the extra suck though. and waiting a whole year for season two? i broke down and ordered the region 2 dvd. i can watch it on my computer, even though i hate doing that. watching films, or tv programs for that matter, on the computer is just wrong! but at least it's better than watching crappy pixelated clips.

You can get a multi region dvd player from World Imports in Chicago, that's were I ordered mine so I could watch the series, it was approx. 130.00 not too bad, and well worth it. And since I'm so pathetic (and I travel a lot) I ordered the multi region portable dvd player also, but that was a bit more pricey, but it's hard to be away too long without a Helen and Nikki fix.

You didn't graduate from Boston U, did you? My niece just started there last year. Sorry about the financial part, I know what a pain it is to watch it on your computer, I watched all three series on my computer because I used an editing program to edit all the Nikki & Helen scenes together in one long movie.

I used a program called Ulead, it really was very easy to use, but I had to get a larger hard drive to handle the amount of room needed to edit three or four episodes down to one. I'm hoping to use it to make some music videos re Helen and Nikki. Have you seen some of the ones that have already been done? I take that back, you shouldn't watch them if you're only on series two unless you don't mind knowing what happens.

How did you find out about Bad Girls? There doesn't seem to be to much interest in the US.

oh, i know wwhat happens in season three - i've seen most of the snogging clips and read the synopsis. I heard about Bad Girls through afterellen.com. They reviewed it when it was released here. I wasn't actually sure if I would enjoy it because, in my desperation to watch anything with lesbians, i have come across some REALLY crappy stuff. of course, i fell madly in love with it. and simone. sigh....i hate the fact that i'm three years behind!!

Welcome to the board first of all.

Bad Girls I believe really is a great drama in the first 3 series's and then it lost a lot. Not, as many might say because Simone and Mandana left, but because I believe Shed lost the imput of one person called Chris Tchaikovsky. She was a former prisoner that Nikki Wade was based on who was the shows made advisor - and reading between the lines the main contributor in many other ways as well in its concept - until her unfortunate illness and death.

From the moment she wasn't properly involved seems to be the time that BG's lost its gritty drama tag and became .... I would say almost sleazy. Other lesbian interest has come and gone in the series, and each time its felt like a token gesture not a genuine attempt to put some serious lesbian or gay characters in.

I stuck watching the series right through until this latest (7) - even enjoyed the beginning of 6 which held some promise..... didn't last..... but despite trying........ I haven't been able to watch any episodes of 7 at all properly and have now given up about half way through.

thanks for the welcome! it's odd, i feel like i've showed up to the party three years too late. i mean, obviously the nikki/helen buzz has died down a lot. both simone and mandana have done other things...ah well. have you heard that BBCAmerica bought thr rights and is gonna show Bad Girls in the US? i don't know when they'll start it. i wonder if they'll have to edit it? i just pray that no stupid american companies are cooking up ideas for a american Bad Girls. we've botched almost all of the serials that we stole from the brits...coupling, the office...the only one that's done well is the queer as folk. why can't we americans come up with our own ideas?

I hadn't heard about BBC America buying the rights to show in the US - thats great news because there has been talk of an American Version, like the other shows you rightly mention. That would have been disasterous in my eyes.

We appreciate you feel like a late comer, and while its great to have you on the Simone Board - if you don't already know we also have a dedicated Nikki and Helen MB - partly because we still love 'em, partly because we saw a number of 'new' fans coming along and not have anywhere dedicated to talk about the lovely ladies.......... The board can be found at:

Your more than welcome to come along and join in there with other fans - we also have a growing fan fiction section.

LOL @ the subtitles. Not sure why anyone would need subtitles.
I wonder why the extras on R1 aren't the same as R2??

Hey Eldorado,
I've actually got a hearing loss, so subtitles really take the pressure off of me and my aids Smile But I do know that my hearing friends and rellies also like subtitles with shows that have actors with accents... some of the words are hard to make out!
