Name;; Jasmine Age;; 13 Activity;; Three hours each day at the very least Other;; Ehrm .. I love you all? oh, and I play Liam too.
[this is a seasonal affair]
Nickname;; How does Burn boy sound to you? Oh, and Stevie, but just by his mother. She still seems to think he’s that little kid that just barely reached her waist, even though he’s about a foot taller than her now, but mostly everyone just calls him Steve.
Gender;; Male Orientation;; Heterosexual Age;; 17 Birthdate;; Seventh of September Occupation;; Senior
[watch those jaws drop]
Eye Colour;; stormy blue Hair Colour;; dark brown Height;; 6’0 Weight;; 179, give or take Body Type;; lean Tattoos or Piercings;; -- Scars;; God, where do I even begin? Well, over a dozen are littered across his torso, about three or four along his left arm, and he can’t even bother to count those on his legs- all those are from the skin grafts alone. The one on his left cheek that he likes to call his father’s ‘going away present’ as it came from one of those many drunken nights.
Most Notable Feature;; His wild hair and, whenever he’s smiling, that scar on his cheek because it grows deeper.
Appearance;; If you ever saw Steve and Katie Johnson together and didn’t know who they were then you’d never guess that they were even related.
The first word that would pop into your head at seeing Steven would be ‘rough’, and that applies to everything about him. Much to his dismay. Because it’s obvious he inherited most of his traits, both appearance and personality wise, from his father.
While Katie is small and bright and soft featured, her son is the exact opposite. He barely scrapes over six feet, so is a bit on the taller side, and is rather broad-shouldered. He’s well built, in spite of the fact he doesn’t really do much exercise. The most is simply an outdoors game of football with Rastis, and that’s only because he insists. But that’s it.
His face is rather elongated, with a long, almost hooked nose to match and a strong chin. The one thing he did get from his mom would be the heart shape of his face itself, and his somewhat wide forehead, which is why he prefers to let his hair cover it. Not that he could control his hair to do otherwise. Steve’s hair is, lightly put, a gigantic mess of brown strands. He can never tame it, no matter what, and it always sticks out in the oddest of directions. He tried cutting it once but found that it didn’t work for him, so now he lets it grow until his fringe reaches his eyes.
Ah yes, his eyes. He’s never liked them, truth be told, even though a lot think they’re beautiful. Psh. Beautiful .. Steven just blinks and mutters a, “Riiiight.” Whenever he hears that. Their colour is quite tantalizing though: a deep, storm-blue that seems to turn a darker shade whenever he’s depressed or else particularly pissed off. They’re narrow, so much so that if he laughs they’ll completely close. Or at least seem to. They’ve been called ‘cat-like’ before because of that, something he finds quite funny.
A smile isn’t very hard to get out of him- but a real one is. You know, the one where the lips are simply upturned lightly? No, you won’t see that a lot. Burn Boy here has quite a unique smile. It’s crooked, sly-looking, making it seem like he knows something you don’t or has something brewing in that twisted little head of his.
Being burned isn’t something easily hidden. Of course not. And especially when the area burned covers just about your entire body. To cure that (or at least attempt to) he got skin grafts, but he still thinks that, from neck-down, he’s hideous. Those large scars that litter his skin can’t simply be overlooked, and since he loathed those pitying glances he got at the hospital, he’s opted to just cover as much of his skin as he possibly can. Always trousers and long sleeves, even wearing a glove on his left hand to cover the single scar that ran across its. Consequently, he’s quite pale because of that, though he does earn a nice, healthy peach colour in the summer.
[birds in my ears and a devil on my shoulder]
Loves;;
-Katie Johnson, his mother .. to an extent. “She went through a lot for me ..” -The Frosts: “They’re like the family I’ve never had. A rather dysfunctional family, true, but my family nonetheless.” -Jack Frost in particular. “He’s become something of my father figure. He’s the reason I stayed with my mom, and a main and prominent feature in my life. Besides, he doesn’t annoy me into talking about my feelings, and that much I’m thankful for.” -Bambi Pratt: “Tell her and I’ll prepare to meet your horrible death of paper-cuts.” -Fictional books, like The Lord of the Rings, The Vampire Chronicles, The Inheritance Trilogy, etc. “It’s nice to see people with more messed up lives than mine. And yes, I’m something of a fantasy fanatic. One word and you’ll find a fist coming at you.” -Earning praise -Cold weather. More reason to wear lots of layers of clothing and cover up even more skin. -Rain -Hot chocolate -Coffee. You seriously don’t even want to talk to him before he has his morning coffee. -Ronnie Frost’s baking skills. -Drawing. A little skill he picked up from his mother. -Meaningful music.
Hates;;
-Fire. Self-explanatory. -His father, Jarius Johnson: “Do I even need to explain?” -His mother’s extreme mood-swings: “Yeah, she’s my Mom and all, but there’s only so much a guy can take. “ -Alcohol: “It’s what got me in this condition in the first place. Plus it’s highly flammable.” -Cigarettes. The guys know not to smoke around him. “They’re the reason behind most fires, y’know.” -Sheds: “Bad memories.” -Really perky people. They just annoy him .. which is pretty funny, considering his mother is one of them. But he can handle his mom just fine. -His scars: “Disgusting, that’s what they are.” -Whenever someone badgers him with questions: “It’s none of your business so fuck off already!” -Feeling inferior -Feeling useless -The fact that he didn’t meet army requirements, for reasons mentioned above -Pity -His abnormal life: “How many kids out there can say they’ve been burned, have a bi-polar mother that sells umbrella hats of all things, and practically live with the neighbors? Not many, I bet.” -Having his picture taken, but Bambi has managed to get a few pictures out of him.
Fears;; -Pyrophobia — fear of fire. -Agoraphobia — fear of a place or event where escape is impossible or when help is unavailable. -Acrophobia- fear of heights. -Turning out like his father. Hey, it’s still possible, right? -Rejection. And yet that’s a fear he seems to face everyday, because you really can’t be loved by everyone, as fantastic as that would have been.
Habits;; -Absentmindedly runs his fingers over the scar on his cheek -Runs a hand through his hair a lot -Whenever he’s particularly pissed off he taps his fingers on whatever solid surface is in front of him and bites the inside of his cheek -Is always adjusting the glove on his left hand
Personality;; Depressed? Yes, Steven is somewhat depressed. And wouldn’t you be if you were in his shoes? Feeling inferior to everyone around you, living with the constant fear of history repeating itself, waking up abruptly in a pool of cold sweat simply because the scent of smoke was wafting through the open window .. He hasn’t exactly lead the easiest life. Especially not with his bi-polar mother and her random, unpredictable moods.
One thing is certain though, that no matter how depressed he is, he’s still something of an optimist. He still thinks he can live, he’s still strong enough to continue .. even if he did have a few suicidal tendencies after finding out he didn’t fit army requirements. A quick talk with Jack soon fixed that, and while he’s still a bit bitter about it, it doesn’t affect him as much anymore because of one very simple reason- Giving up was weak, was proving that he was just going to lie down and take it all, fearing everything and everyone .. But worst of all, it was admitting defeat to his father, and there is no one he despises more than that wretched drunk.
It’s kinda like the only reason he’s so adamant about succeeding in life (more or less) is to spite his father.
He’s not weak, and he’ll never even allow himself to be so, which is why he loathes pity. The looks he got from the nurses in the hospital while he was recovering from his burns have never left his memory, and just about all his life he’s been working to prevent getting those looks again.
But .. well, all that doesn’t mean that Steven’s this steadfast rock or anything. He has his soft side, and he also has a sharp side, one that I’d advise you not to go anywhere near.
Let’s tackle one at a time, hm? His soft side can easily be found, even if it may seem the opposite due to his rugged exterior. He’s a real sweetie .. just a little rough around the edges. Friends aren’t very easy to come by Sure, his conversational skills are pretty damn good (they have to be when you’re as witty as he is) and there’s nothing better than a good joke to break the ice, but there’s a difference between those he considers friendly acquaintances and those he could actually call his friends.
When Jarius set him on fire he scarred more than simply his body- he also scarred the boy’s trust. Hey, if his own father could do that, then why not anyone else? There are very few out there who have earned his trust, got him to open up and broken those defensive walls he’d built around himself, and those would be the Frosts and the Pratts .. to a certain extent. Oh, and Jesse Jeffery too. With the rest he’ll be his charming self, but still retain a bit of caution.
However, his true friends are a major part of his life. He’d go out of his way to help them, always assisting whenever he can, because for someone to have earned his trust would require quite a bit on his part, so Steven feels it’s his job to return the favor. Also, it’s his own little way of proving his strength, that he doesn’t need pity or whatever. Very complex character, that Steve.
His sharper side is one that only surfaces when you annoy or anger him, and that one’s also fairly easy to reach. All you have to do is talk about one of the Frosts, his mother, the Pratts and maybe even homosexuals (Todd’s a Frost, isn’t he?) negatively and he’ll completely flip. Then his wit is used for the opposite: The sarcasm produces insults instead of jokes, twisted mind-games that he knows he’ll undoubtedly emerge from victorious. He’ll only use violence as a last resort, but that doesn’t mean he can’t beat the crap out of anyone who crosses his path. Being Rastis Frost’s best friend ensures that. Burn Boy has brawn as well as brains.
Stubborn, Sarcastic, Depressed, Witty
[an old man gave me a tip]
Family;; -Katie Johnson and Jarius Johnson, but he doesn’t really consider the latter even human, let alone his father.
Love Interests;; Loves Bambi Pratt. And I mean loves, and he likes Lily Jeffery as well. Other Involved Characters;; Katie Johnson, Jarius Johnson, Bambi Pratt, Rastis Frost. Jesse Jeffery, Lily Jeffery
History;;
I honestly wish I could say that he was raised in a normal family, in a loving atmosphere .. but the truth is that it was quite the opposite.
Steven Maverick Johnson was born to a very dysfunctional family. Teenaged parents that married under the pressure of their own parents are more than enough for a life time’s supply of hardships and drama, let alone the fact that one was a violent drunk and the other was bi-polar.
Even though I bet you’ve already imagined half of the story, I’m gonna tell it anyways. Well, Jarius, the once wild and free teen, wasn’t too fond of being tied down, and so he sort of resented the little boy- and Katie knew that. Everyone knew it –Steven was even afraid to be alone in the same room with him- but did they act upon it? No. Not at all. Katherine simply ignored it, much too wrapped up in her own fluffy world of pink to notice the glares, and everyone else probably just thought he was simply in a foul mood and would overcome it ..
They couldn’t have been any more mistaken ..
Well, by the time he was five his mother had finally start noticing Mr. Johnson’s extreme dislike for his current position- it was kind of hard not to, really. Staggering home, practically reeking of alcohol, and slurring ‘I hate you’ is pretty damn obvious, isn’t it? Yes, well, Katie just lived on, ushering their son out of the room quietly whenever Jarius was drunk. And while he was supposed to go to his room, Steve would often stand behind the door, pressing his ear to it, and from his place there he heard stuff that he’d rather not repeat, or even remember, which more often than not made him scurry away to hide under the bed.
It was one of his those nights when the ‘incident’ happened ..
One of their usual fights had erupted, Katie being in one of her ‘moods’ and after the shattering of a few objects Jarius stormed out of the room and went into another, where Steven was sound asleep. Without so much of a word, he dragged the groggily eight-year-old outside and before the poor boy could even register what was happening poured gasoline on him, shoved him into the shed and soon the blazing shed and the blood-curdling screams of the child that was locked inside of it had reached the end of the street.
When Steven woke up again he actually thought that he’d died from how much white he was seeing, and since he’d been drugged so he wouldn’t feel the pain of his burns his mind was a little sluggish. The one thing that made him sure he was still alive, if not necessarily kicking, was his mother’s smiling face beside him and the nurse that was scurrying around.
Needless to say, it came as a very unpleasant shock when he saw what had happened to his body. And even after he got the skin grafts, he thinks his skin is just gross. Hideous.
But at least now his father couldn’t get anywhere near him again, or his mom.
Steven doesn’t quite know how, but she was allowed to raise him on her own, even with her ‘condition’, and move to St. Peter’s. She wouldn’t tell him, but he’s got a feeling Jack Frost is behind it, and that’s only part of the long list of reasons why Burn Boy respects the man. Over time he’s come to see him as a father figure, and knows fully well that his mom harbors a certain liking for him. If that liking was mutual then he’d just be over the moon .. well, not literally, but you get my idea. The Frosts are his family, as far as he’s concerned. All of them, even though he was never really that close to Todd or Cordell. That’s what happens when you’re practically living with someone, as he spends most of his time with Rastis and Bambi.
Life at St. Peter’s was pretty uneventful, much to his delight. Sure, there was still the awkwardness of hiding up his scars, the raging hormones, and his steadily growing crush on a certain Bambi Pratt, but it wasn’t until the boys started going off to war that things started to get shook up again. Steven got rejected for the army, as he didn’t meet their requirements, and that cut deep. Mostly he’d always felt somewhat equal to the guys, but here he was proven again that he was inferior. Almost all of the Frosts went to war while he was left behind with Cordell, Todd (because he was gay) and the girls. Not a very nice feeling.

TEMPORARILY ACCEPTED.
AKA. It's good, but Peter just needs to look over the history and make sure there's no bugs. He came up with all the canons, so he knows 'em better than anyone else. You can post and whatnot, but make sure to come back here and see what he has to say!
((They should be back today, but don't sweat it!))
