In this tutorial we are going to use some steps from my previous tutorials to make a really effective piece of work that looks very nice. These would look nice done for prints if we had the right sort of images to work with which would not lose quality.

Now we are going to use this source image. We are going to make it look like shes in the water against the rock and not on the land. Also we are going to add a nice artistic effect to her and the background.

If you have not done already save our source image to our hard drive. Right click and choose Save As. Save it into your My Pictures folder. Now start photoshop cs up and find and open that source image.

Double click the layer to unlock and rename to 'Jaime Bergman'. Duplicate the layer by dragging the layer to the bottom of the layers palette to the 'Create a new layer' button or press CTRL + J.

Go to Filter >> Sketch >> Graphic Pen and use these following settings for the filter:

Stroke Length: 15
Light/Dark Balance: 50
Stroke Direction: Right Diagonal

Click ok to apply this filter. Now change the layers blend mode to 'Soft Light'. Now we are going to leave this filter effect on both the rock (which is invisible anyway) and the woman. Now grab your eraser tool and take away all the filter we just applied, on the background behind the woman.

Ok we should now have the graphic pen filter effect only on the woman and have the background the way it is on the original layer. Now duplicate the original layer again (CTRL + J) and bring forward to the top.

Now go to Filter >> Sketch >> Stamp and use these following settings for the filter:

Light/Dark Balance: 25
Smoothness: 5

Click ok to apply this filter. Now change this layers blend mode also to 'Soft Light'. Now grab your eraser tool once again and remove this filter from from her legs right up to her neckbone region. Leave some of this effect on her face and her chest area to give us some lightness. Do NOT remove from the background behind her.

Duplicate the original layer again (CTRL + J) and bring forward to the top. Now we are going to apply our depth field effect shown in previous tutorials to this. This will add a blurry effect towards our water at the end. On the recently duplicated layer, apply a gaussian blur by going to Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur and set the pixels to 12 pixels. Like in the previous tutorials. 12 is very good for this depth field effect. Now add a layer mask to this layer. Go to Layer >> Add layer mask >> Reveal all. Now grab our gradient tool. Make sure its on 'Radial Gradient' and the mode normal. Now drag straight from the top to the bottom. Keep it centered.

Now it should be clear at the top and going down it should start to get blurry. Now create a new layer above all the rest with nothing in it. Now click CTRL + ALT + Shift + E this will transfer all visible layers into one. Now Alt + click on our new layers eye at the left side to get rid of the other layers being visible.

Now this may be cheating but hey I dont know any other way of creating effect water at this moment. So we are going to use a plugin from Flaming Pear. You can use a trial of the plugin. If you like it or any other they offer. Buy them and help support them in creating new ones. So download the 'Flood' plugin from here.

Once downloaded, use Winzip to extract the files to your desktop. Now move the file Flood-110.8BF to this directory (if applicable to you):

(C:) >> Program Files >> Adobe >> Photoshop CS >> Plug-Ins >> Filters.

Now save your work and restart photoshop cs to apply this filter to your list. Now once open again click the layer we applied all visible layers to and go to Filter >> Flaming Pear >> Flood. Click the two dice to make the settings random or configure the settings how you like. Now click ok to apply the filter.

Now add some fancy text and a 1 pixel black border around your work and you have a nice little image.

End Result
