Title: My 1000pt List
Description: poorer then i thought i was....
Bloody_grot - May 18, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
Ok so maybe i don't currently have the $150+ i need to do the 2000pt list, but i think i have $50, and that's all i need for this one :D any way, here it be;
heroes
Thrall
- Nehekhara's noble blood
Necro
- Book of Arkhan
Necro
- Staff of damnation
Core
19x skele's
- musician + standard
19x skele's
- musician + standard
20x zombies
- musician + standard
5x ghouls
5x Dire wolves
5x Dire wolves
Ok so that's 999pts. The basic plan, FLANK CHARGES, i have no hard hitters in there, this is due to both points and money, so i'm going to be focused on summoning zombies at the flanks and rears of enemy units and trying to move my wolves to the flanks, lone characters, anything with range...
The only flaw i see in my plan is if my magic phase goes horribly wrong, and my wolves and heroes die, which I must admit I'm kinda expecting, even if they are undead goblins... so if.... when that happens I will know its time to retreat and immediately re-evaluate the plan.

Overall not bad but a few tweaks I'd recommend are...
Drop the 20 zombies to 10 zombies to hide your two necormancers in. 3 blocks at this size is really needed. Stripe the command as well.
With the points do one of the following:
--Grab more ghouls, these are excellant troops overall at any size but in 1000pts there even better.
--Drop one unit of Dire Wolves and get some Black Knights. Use converted Empire/Bretonnian Knights to keep the cost down model wise.
General tactics seems sound as for

When you raise, only use 2 dice with your thrall, it went well for me when I used the same characters.
Bloody_grot - May 20, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Ok well i have figured out i could afford 5 barded knights (points wise) if i did drop the zombie unit size, command from that unit, and a unit of wolves... do people think this would be a better idea?
The only times i have seen Knights used is when they are backed up with some character, that's why they weren't put in the list originally (that and it raised costs another $50....) do they perform well on their own?
Schnimon - May 21, 2007 03:06 PM (GMT)
A unit of 5 Black Knights on there own not really....but a unit of 5 Black Knights in the flank of any unit is a serious threat. If that unit is engaged with a larger block you have autobreak.
If you dont like the cost of Black Knights remember the Empire plastic range! Ghouls you can convert some mediocre ones with empire and zombie plastics as well
The advice on the power dice is sound, and gets the best out of the +1 to cast. Use your necromancers for everything else.

Well, for the models I'm only using goblin models, maybe i will eventually get some black orcs for grave guard or something...
right no what i am thinking is:
Vampire and Necro's --> BfSP gobbo heroes + night goblin shaman (already have)
Skeletons --> BfSP night goblins
Zombies --> Normal goblin regiment
Ghouls --> BfSP spider rider RIDERS
Dire wolves --> BfSP spider rider SPIDERS
Black knights (and wight lord) --> Gobbo wolf riders
Fell bats --> converted squigs
Banshees --> squig herders (preferable the one with pipes and the one with symbols)
so it really is just a matter of I have very little money at the moment, the models i have chosen either mean i have plenty to fulfill my needs or exactly the amount i need. All i have to do is decide whether to spend a total of $150 or $200 and figure out how i can spend that much and still have enough left over to do what ever....

heroes
Thrall
- Nehekhara's noble blood
Necro
- Book of Arkhan
[COLOR=red] Lv2?
Necro
- Staff of damnation
Lv2?
Core
19x skele's
- musician + standard
19x skele's
- musician + standard
20x zombies
- musician + standard
5x ghouls
5x Dire wolves
5x Dire wolves
[COLOR=red] Also i do take black knights but mines a bit of a diffrent army and i ususally take 6 so that if they lose one they can still cancel ranks.
[COLOR=red] Also about you dying horrribly it doesn't matter you can still raise them again and again etc
Schnimon - May 22, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
I take 6 Black Knights to take advantage of wider frontages. But 5 will do.
You only need 3 Black Knights to cancel rank bonus. Same with Dire Wolves since both are Cavalry and therefore US2. (You need US5 to cancel ranks.)
If you dont want to pay for the BLack Knights i'd get those spider rider's out and get yourself some ghouls.
Bloody_grot - May 22, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
but then i need to get Ghouls AND wolves,and i didn't like any of the other gobbo models as ghouls...

Cheap battle for skull pass stuff can be found here:
http://www.bwbits.com/c=hTMgSg6yUQ2GuoivuP..._for_skill_passIn a small army 5 black knights without barding or command can be a cheap and nasty unit to throw in a unit's flank after they have locked horns with some zombies.
I would remove the musicians from the zombies.. either you win, or you lose by musician and dont cry over the 1 zombie
Schnimon - May 23, 2007 08:27 AM (GMT)
Personally I prefer musicians for the times when you do win by by having it and can autobreak the enemy. But at this size...probably not worth it unless you want them just for the look of the unit. End of the day its only a few points.
