Description: 1000 points. it might suck
Shadowspectre - June 12, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
This is my first necrarch army, so it might suck. if it does please explain why. anyways its 1000 points, a difficult number for necrarchs, but here goes:
Unit: Vampire Thrall
Weapons: Claws and Teeth
Equipment: Staff of Damnation
Cost: 120 Points
Unit: Skeletons
Models: 19
Weapons: Hand Weapon, Spears
Armour: Shield
Notes: Skeleton Captain*, Standard Bearer
Cost: 191 Points
Unit: Necromancer
Weapons: Hand Weapon
Equipment: Book of Arkhan
Magic: Level 2 Wizard - Necromancy
Cost: 125 Points
Unit: Necromancer
Weapons: Hand Weapon
Equipment: Book of Arkhan
Magic: Level 2 Wizard - Necromancy
Cost: 125 Points
Unit: Ghouls
Models: 15
Weapons: Claws
Notes: Alive!, Poisoned Attacks, Fear, Scavengers
Cost: 120 Points
Unit: Dire Wolves
Models: 5
Weapons: Claws and Teeth
Notes: Fast Cavalry, Slavering Charge*
Cost: 50 Points
Unit: Dire Wolves
Models: 5
Weapons: Claws and Teeth
Notes: Fast Cavalry, Slavering Charge*
Cost: 50 Points
Unit: Grave Guard
Models: 12
Weapons: Hand Weapons
Armour: Heavy Armour, Shield
Notes: Wight Blades, Standard Bearer, Crypt Keeper
Standard Bearer: Banner of the Barrows

Heres my thinking: stick the vamp in the skeleons. other than that just rush the crap outta the bastards, summoning units to act as bodyguards for the necros. then summon zombies behind em and sandwich em real good.

1st things 1st, both your Necro's cant have the same magic item. any magic items like armor, weapons, enchanted, arcane are limited to 1 per army the exception is "common" magical items.
army looks decent, I would remove some ghouls to make the unit 10 strong, also I would drop the Grave Gaurd altogether (12 is not nearly enough for them to excel)& add unit of 5-6 Black Knights instead, remove one necro & the Rod & get yourself a Black Coach (it dominates in such small battles).
goodluck, let us know how your gaming goes.

First off, welcome to the necrarchs!
Ok, the list:
Taking 3 heroes in 1k is a bit much, but it does mean you\'ll be able to raise a lot of guys.
Would taking just 2 be fine with you? Say:
Necromancer w/ Lv 2, Cloak of Mist and Shadows, general
Thrall w/ Dark Acolyte, Book of Arkhan
Skellies look ok, just remember to drop the spears. They are useless.
I agree with the others, do not take GG unless its 25x, so switch them out for Black Knights. Ghouls are good have . Perhaps you would consider splitting the 15x strong unit into 3 units of 5?
Finally, having some wolves or zombies might be handy to have around but overall I say your list is solid.
Good luck!
Regards,
Lord Crosis

Why do most of you say the same thing, have you forgotten that on the turn they charge the can opt to use their hw&sh instead so they get the extra +1 save bonus, then next round could attack in 2 ranks or just stay using hw's.
I tend to field them 24 deep 6 wide.

Because, basic skeletons do not win combat through kills. They win it through static CR and fear. Thats why having a 4+ save is better than a 5+. Any kills you get should be gravy, not expected. The flanking ghouls or BK are the ones who rack up the kills. Plus, if you take spears it makes your skellies a a bit too expensive.
