I have Windows Movie Maker, but it doesn't work.

When I try to import a clip or image to it, an error message comes up, but then if I close Movie Maker and open it up again, it'll be there. However, I can't post anything at all to the story board. I've tried installing numerous codecs but none of them made a difference.

Does anyone know what's wrong with it?

First off, what types of clips are you trying to import? (.avi, .wmv, .gif)

Secondly, Windows Movie Maker is a giant, steaming piece of dog dodo... The program isn't exactly the best you can use for movie editing, but if it's all you have than you'll just have to make due (though I recommend either downloading a different movie maker or going out and buying one).

And thirdly, has it worked before in the past? My PC's WMM recently stopped working (thank god I have iMovie on the laptop) out of no where. I can't upload anymore clips into it and if (by some miracle) it starts to work, it will only allow one minute of movie time.

The clips that I have are .AVI and the rest are just pictures.

Which other programs would you recommend? I have another movie maker type program called Video Impressions, but if I don't know how to remove the audio from a video, like if I want to make an AMV.

And nope, Movie Maker never worked for me.

Okay, .avi files should work just fine with WMM, I've used them before in it.

And that may be part of the problem on its own. If you can download/buy one of the programs on that list, WMM won't even need to get into your life. It's really horrible software, if you ask me. It constantly freezes and won't let you get in depth to the clips you need to edit.

If you're using windows vista it may be that damn DEP program
