Disclaimers: I do not own Elfen Lied or any of its characters. They belong to Lyn Otamoko. I do however own Taro. Steal him and I’ll get pretty upset.
A/N: So I finally brought myself to write an Elfen Lied Fan-fiction. There will be two chapters only sadly.
Diclonius Tears
Part 1
‘So I have to talk with this ‘Lucy’ everyday for two hours? Hmm what an odd job to have in this career; I guess Chief Kurama doesn’t take me seriously.’ Taro thought while keeping his hands in his jean pockets. He wore a grey hat just pass his eyebrows and above his eyes. His hood on his sweater went above his head and flung over his face.
He stepped in front of a door and knocked. “Yo Chief; about that job you assigned me…” Taro called out just before the door was opened to reveal the new secretary, Kisaragi with a gentle smile on her face. “Can you go get me Kurama; I really need to speak to him about Lucy.” Kisaragi nodded and turned around only to trip right in front of a tall man. The man was most likely in his twenties. Short jet-black hair hung above his glasses. His navy suit made him seem professional.
“Taro what’s the matter with you? Are you unsure of where which room Lucy is in or is it that you have a fear over Diclonius’?” Kurama asked. Taro looked slightly frustrated and then stomped his foot against the ground over and over to show his anger. “Hey don’t sweat it Taro; many of the workers here don’t even want to go near her.” Hearing that didn’t make Taro feel any better; in fact it made him feel worse.
“Kurama, I read up everything about working in this facility and there wasn’t one thing on there that mentioned actually having to interact with potentially dangerous people. I have no fear of a Diclonius but I just expected having a job like being a guard or boss or something like that.” Taro complained but then was dragged into the room by Kurama and Kisaragi was pushed out for the reason that it didn’t concern her. “Are you making me speak to Lucy everyday for two hours just because I have dyed my hair blue?!” Taro shouted angrily but then was receiving a head pat from Kurama.
The Chief lifted his hand away from Taro’s head and shook his head. “It’s because of your strong sense of justice. Besides, Lucy needs someone to talk to while she’s here and alive.” Kurama explained and then walked out of the room with Taro while leading him to a room, “This is where Lucy is! Come on in.” Kurama whispered while he opened the door only to see someone’s leg being blown off. Taro looked ahead and saw a guard getting torn into pieces by what appeared to be nothing. He felt nauseous as he watched the guard finally die.
“That’s why you don’t want to be a guard, Taro. Lucy has what you call ‘vectors’. Until you know that she trusts you and that she wants you near her; stay away by at least two meters or more.” Kurama explained while Taro let his sight on a naked woman standing in the center of the room with a glare towards Taro and Kurama. “Stay right here Taro!” Kurama insisted. Taro managed to register in his head that the woman Kurama was walking up to was Lucy. She had long pink hair that was past her waist but not quite. A shudder crawled up Taro’s spine as Lucy glared at him with her vicious red eyes.
“Lucy, this is Taro.” Kurama’s introduction of Taro to Lucy was pretty bland. After the introduction Lucy glared at Taro and appeared as though she was ready to attack him. An unwelcoming shudder crawled up Taro’s spine as he had thought of the possibilities of her killing him at any time. He knew that she wasn’t going to trust or befriend him and he knew that Lucy most likely didn’t want to have anything to do with him.
That woman was silent but her glare of hatred towards Taro was enough to say that she already hated him. It was tempting to go up to Lucy to speak to her but at the same time it was dangerous. ‘Well, I guess I now know why jobs like this are very well paid.’ Taro slowly approached Lucy but then some alarm went off. Fear came into Lucy’s eyes just before a dart got into her shoulder and knocked her out. The door opened and men in guard uniforms dragged Lucy into the room ahead of them; Taro followed.
Only a half hour later was Lucy secured in almost everyway; her whole body was wrapped in blankets and metal seals, she wore a helmet that covered her entire head and all around there was a glass seal covering her all around. It was a horrible sight for Taro to see! In everyway Taro disliked what he saw. Despite how dangerous Lucy was there was no need to keep her locked up like this. “Chief; is all of that coverage on Lucy’s necessary?”
Slowly, Kurama nodded. “Taro I saw how scared you were of Lucy; I understand that. It’s because of her vectors and her homicidal tendencies that she’s locked up like that. If she wasn’t so homicidal then I guess she wouldn’t be locked up that much.” Kurama pushed a button next to the opened entrance and then left with Taro to his office.
“So why do I have to talk to her everyday for two hours if she hates my guts? Just look at the way she was glaring.” Taro replied just as he looked down to the ground in shame. “There must be something about me that she really hates.” Kurama glanced and then stopped.

Lucy had just been taken out from her locks. She stood just outside of the dark room that she was in; completely naked and waiting. Taro had just walked into the room when she had looked to the ceiling in boredom. “Ah Lucy; it’s’ me, Taro!” Taro tried to sound as enthusiastic as possible while he walked up to her and handed her a bag full of food. “I figured that you might be hungry so I’ll share my lunch with you; if you want.” Lucy looked at him awkwardly and then looked into the bag. There was a sandwich, a juice box and a few snacks. Typical lunch that the guards would eat in front of her but this would be the first time she had any part of lunch offered to her.
Quickly Lucy dug her hand into the bag and took out an apple. It was round, red and felt very smooth. “Am I allowed to have this?” She asked. Taro nodded and then he watched her devour the apple in less then five minutes. It only took half an hour before the bag was completely empty. Lucy didn’t thank Taro; it wasn’t surprising. She still didn’t seem to trust him anyway.
“Why don’t you have any firearms with you?” Lucy questioned after secretly inspecting Taro with her vectors to feel for any firearms or weapons of any kind. He had nothing, no self defense. At the moment it would be easy for Lucy to just tear him apart, but of course then she would never know why he never brought in any kind of weapon. Either Taro was really; really brave or he had no common sense.
Taro looked up and snickered a little. “Should I have any firearms? Why should I bring in any; even though you can tear people apart there’s no reason for me to bring in my own weapon. Besides, I can’t shoot a weapon.” He replied with a grin and adjusted his hat; only to have Lucy staring at him suspiciously. There was just something odd about Taro that she couldn’t lay her finger on! She did come to the conclusion, however, that Taro had no common sense.
