=Chapter 1=

There was a still brisk night. The only things seen were swerving lights. That were so bright they seemed like two suns trying to burn the earth’s rich soil. They were on the main road of Hakashima. The road was wet and unforgiving. There were three souls on that road alone. , A cat, his daughter and a hateful, sixteen year-old boy. Who hated cats since he was about seven. His mother had lost her life to a wild rabid, crazed puma.

The cat named Kokoro, Kiyori’s father walked along the road with his daughter, teaching her the city and who not to mess with. He was beginning to cross the road to show Kiyori the sushi shop and how to get the old man to give them sushi. Meanwhile Tashi was speeding down the road and saw the cats. He snarled in anger at the strays. Kiyori knew something was wrong and stayed on the curb. “Come on Kiyo. Don’t just stand there!” Kokoro stood in the street waiting for her.

Tashi pushed on the gas peddle as hard as he could. He aimed his bumper for the cat in the road. “I’ll get you. Dammed cat.” He yelled in the car and the sound echoed in the Honda. Kokoro looked at the lights and didn’t know what to do… He stood there frozen, while his life flashed before his eyes. “Move dad!” Kiyori screamed as loud as she could but it was too late. She heard a horrible screech and ran as the lights stopped.

Tashi practically jumped out of the car and stared at the corpse. “That’s for mom.” He said sitting in the driver’s seat. He closed the car door and drove home as quickly as he could. Kiyori found herself in an unknown area. She looked around and saw a strange green colored creek. She pawed at it and smelled it. ‘Smells like…flowers?’ She thought. She stood away from it. She looked at an old shack and remembered what her dad said.

“Remember Kiyo, When ever you see an older looking house…Go to it. They are the nice standing animals. “ Okay daddy” She smiled.

She was very young then. She looked at the shack and walked up to it. “Well let’s see if I can get some sleep here…” She mumbled. She scratched at the door and meowed as loud as she could. She waited for an answer. She clawed at the wooden door until she heard footsteps. She backed away a bit. The door slowly creaked open. “Hello?” A sweet older voice said, coming from an elder woman. Looking to be about seventy or so. She pushed her long white hair away from her face.
