One year and three days since that night and I'm still wondering why it happend
Alair had finally arrived in the next town. The sun beat hard down on her back, giving her bare shoulders a sunkissed tan. She hardly ever sunburned. She had tied her long, golden b;londe hair up to cool off, since the spaghetti strap shirt and jean shorts weren't exactly helping. She trudged along down the dunes of the barren desert. Why a town was nestled in this part of the country in the midst of a vast desert, she'd never know. She let a sigh pass her lips as her bare foot, touched warm cobble stone. There were many people rushing to and fro, buy and trading for food and clothing. She looked down at her own attire and debated on weather to buy new clothing. She dug deep in her pocket and produced four gold coins inthe palm of her hand. Hopefully it would be enough. She walked around, darting through the passing townfolk in search of a suitable booth. She happened upon a booth that sold halter-type shirts and skirts. She smiled and looked at the variety of colors.
"May I help you, Miss?" a elderly man looked up at her with a kind smile. Alair froze, not used to such a kind tone. She relaxed, slightly and nodded.
"Yes, how much are you asking for that red shirt and black skirt?" Alair asked, trying to sound confident. She avoided hisgaze in fear that her eyes might frighten him. The old man glanced at the requested item and looked back up at her.
"Seven gold coins each, Dear." The old man answered, holding out a withered hand for the coins. Alair nodded and placed the amount in his hand and grabbed the items. She thanked him and walked away. She walked toward an abandoned alley way that had no one in or around it. She snuck in and quickly changed her clothes. Now she actually blended in with the town's people. She walked as casually as possible out of the alley and continued looking around.
As she walked, she noticed the inhabitants staring and whispering to each other. She wondered if they were talking about her. Alair rubbed her right arm, feeling uncomfortable and tried not to notice them. Then a scream stopped her in her tracks.
"Everyone run! The demon is here!" a man yelled from behind her and the people began to scatter. Alair lowered her head, ashamed of what she had down. She glanced behind her and saw a group of men in black cloaks chasing after her. She groaned and began to run.
"Get back here you monster!" one man ordered, but Alair kept running. She looked back and realized that she couldn't outrun them and was about to give up. That was until an arm wrapped around her waist and pulled through an opening.
(that's all for now, my hands are tired. Tell me what ya think!)
Alair, tis a pretty name. 8D
I like this story. ^^ Tis better then some that I've read.
I've noticed a few minor grammatical errors.
'She looked down at her own attire and debated on weather to buy new clothing.'
Weather...whether. ehehe, tis a simple error. Nothing big.
Though I noticed, she had 4 gold coins, but the vendor asked for 7 for each piece of clothing? o-o; I may have missed something, or she randomly had more money? xD
Eheh, tis good, I like it, continue when you can. ^^
