Title: Dear Avi
Description: For my daughter

kikyophobia - April 4, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
I wrote this for my daughter. I think this one's self-explanatory.

Dear Avi

There’s a flutter in the window,
a snowfall dancing beneath it;
above, it is crisply silent.
The curtains billow—
no one’s breathing.
And the woman inside is waiting.
Because the guilt won’t go away
if she can’t say a word;

The falling snow keeps drifting,
and further it drifts from her.
Nestled against a cold, marble floor,
she carves a letter in dust.
Baby girl never did
see her mama.

So—
Dear Avi,
Follow my silenced voice
through starlight and sunflowers,
or whatever heaven’s made of.
It must be good—I hope it is.
(I was blind when I left you there.)
Meet me on Earth.
I’m the dead one,
the one standing over time.
It’s falling without me,
so take my penitence to
Mister God.

Love,
Mommy.

Aw. So sad. :cryriver: :cryriver:

But at least you're writing poetry again. Yay!!!

Love it. It's so sweet and it's even simple enough for me to get it. ^^

Can't wait for another poem.

Oh gosh, that's so incredibly sad.

If you don't mind me asking, how did she die?

Beautiful. I'm so very sorry for your loss, but I know you know she's in a happier place. I love your poetry, and I can't wait to read more of your future poems. ^^
