Chapter One
"Okay, Mom. I'm heading out!"
A young girl of about eighteen emerged from the hallway. She was busy snapping a black and white checkered wrist cuff to her thin left wrist. "Lindsay, don't be out to lat, alright?" Her mother, shouted from her bedroom. "I won't!" Lindsay called back, walking toward the front door. She paused for a moment to fix her hair in the reflection of the window in the door. She smiled and opened the door. She was greeted by the sight of a light blue convertible filled with all her friends. Her best friend, Chelsea was busy leaning on the horn, an impatient look on her face. Lindsay shook her head and walked toward the car. She got in the back and slid into the arms of her boyfriend, Nathan.
"Hey, Babe." Nathan's gentled voice rumbled from his deep chest. That voice always made Lindsay shiver. She looked up at him and smiled. Nathan returned the smile and placed a small peck on her lips. "Okay, Love Birds. Break it up!' Nathan's best friend, Chase shouted, grabbing Nathan and puling him back. Nathan glared at his friend and kept his arm around Lindsay's shoulder. Lindsay giggled as Chelsea pulled out of the driveway. Little did she know that Chase was sending her and Nathan a nasty glare.
They arrived at the venue in record time. The boys, out of the kindness of their hearts, had so lovingly bought tickets for the Avenged Sevenfold concert. They gave their tickets and got to their spots. As soon as they were in their places, the lights dimmed. The band started out with "Bat Country" and then a few others. They had a few intervals between them. Nathan kept Lindsay close, sensing the stares from the surrounding boys. Nathan was always the protective one. Especially since he found Lindsay. Soon the concert was over and the crowd began to part. This included the group. They got back in Chelsea's car. Now it was time for the next stop on the boy's schedule.
They were heading down main street when the blaring sound of a car horn, ripped through the still night air. Lindsay's eyes shot to the left, right in time to see a large Diesel truck barreling toward them at an alarming rate. It looked like the brakes had given out. Nathan held her tightly as she closed her eyes. The last thing she saw was the bright light and the scared look on Chase's face. Then everything went black and a sharp pain ripped through Lindsay's entire body.
The doors to St. Davis Memorial Hospital flew open, revealing a woman in her mid-thirties. She looked young for her age. Her hair was a dark mud brown hair that fell in a curtain behind her shoulders. She ran toward the information desk, eyes red from tears. "Where is she?" the woman cried. The receptionist looked up with a bored expression. "Who, Ma'am?" She asked, simply. "My daughter, Lindsay Daniels. What room is she in?" The woman cried. The receptionist typed something in the computer and looked back up. "Room 122, Second floor. But I must tell you that only family members are allowed in at this time." She replied, calmly. The woman nodded and took off for the elevator. She got in and rode it to the second floor.
She raced down the hall toward the room. Four teens sat against the wall outside. She recognized them as some of her daughter's friends. They looked up at the woman with solemn looks. She noticed that Nathan's green eyes were dull and red from crying. She nodded to them and walked toward the door to the room. She opened the door and walked in, shutting the door behind her. The room was quiet, save for the steady beeping of the heart monitor. The woman walked toward the first bed. Lindsay laid still beneath the clean white sheets. She had a oxygen mask over her mouth and nose. Her breathing was steady. She had a bruise under her right eye and a few scratches on her cheeks. She looked peaceful for the moment.
In the bed next to her was a young male that looked about a year or two older. He looked to be in pretty much the same shape as Lindsay. He was pale with bandages tied around his head, pushing his coal colored bangs out his eyes. She smiled softly at the two. It was just like the two were children again. Sleeping beside one another. Only this time it was a lot more serious than just sleeping. "Mrs. Daniels?" A rough voice asked, breaking the woman's thoughts. The woman turned to face an older gentleman. "Yes, Doctor?" She asked, her voice low and shaky. The doctor walked toward her and stood in front of her. "I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this. But, your daughter is in a very critical state. She might not make it." The doctor explained, his voice steady.
More tears fell from the woman's eyes. She wiped them away as the doctor continued. "We must keep both of them in a coma in order to be sure they will pull through. It's our only option. They both suffered very severe injuries from the crash. Only time will tell what the outcome will be.. Only God knows when they will wake up." The doctor stated, looking from Lindsay to the boy. the woman nodded, sullenly and looked toward the two. The boy may not have belonged to her, but he was still as much a part of her as her Lindsay. The doctor nodded and walked out of the room. Soon the four teens came in and they gathered around Lindsay's bed. Only one girl stood by the boy. Nathan took Lindsay's cold hand in his as tears slowly fell.
A groan echoed from the silence of the forest. The sun shone brightly down on a young girl of maybe eighteen. She lifted her head off the ground and looked around. Everything was bright and the colors seemed a little too vivid. She shook her head and pushed herself off the ground. She got up on her feet and brushed herself off. A hand shot up to her head as the feeling of dizziness overtook her. She stumbled back, slightly. She regained her composure and walked toward the nearby lake. She stood on the bank and stared, disbelievingly into the crystal clear water. "What? This isn't my clothes?" She said, tugging at the sleeve of her new dress. It was deep red with a sort of peasant feel. Like the front was white with black lace up strings. The skirt only reached her knees and poofed out slightly. She wore knee length black boots. The sleeves came off the shoulder. Her hair was normal. A curtain of mud brown cascading down her back. She reached up and touched the top hat that sat at an angle on her head. How it could stay up like that when she turned her head was beyond her.
She turned and walked off into the forest. She came to a small clearing that was filled with brightly colored flowers. She looked up and caught the fleeting glimpse of something red and black from behind a nearby tree. She looked down at the flowers and stopped in the center of the clearing. "Where am I?" She asked no on in particular.
"Hello, Dearie." A soft, motherly voice chimed out. She turned around in a circle, searching for the source of the voice. Her gaze shifted down the the patch of roses and her eyes widened.
This is strange.
That's chapter one. Don't ask where I got this idea. It just hit me one day in school. Hope ya liked it! Sorry for the longness. I had to get everything out so you could understand the situation.
