If two people from different clans were to marry and reproduce... Which clan gives up their name? And if they reproduce, which clan does the child inheriet? I mean, what if the child gets both?
It would be wrong if people from the same clan do it, right? I mean, they're family related.
I don't get it O.o

I don't think that they'd be allowed to call theselves by either clan name, since their parents are from different clans.
Probably the paternal side, just like last names...
I'm guessing they would inherit their father's clan. Or maybe the strongest clan of the two. IDK
I actually remember reading this excellent Shikatema essay that questioned that . . .
The clan name goes to whoever marries in. Now, this is how it would work: if someone like Sasuke were to return to Konoha, and marry Hinata, then he would take on the Hyuuga name, because that is what Japanese families do when they need a male heir. However, I'm wondering if in a ninja type world, that's more modern, where females never appear to be really diferentiated from their male comrades, does the fact that Hinata is a female heir? Would the Hyuuga family not care?
On the other hand, Sasuke could come back to Konoha, and tell everone, I NEED BABIES. Then they might give him Hinata or Hanabi and she would become an Uchiha. So it also depends on which family would need it more. Don't you think they might make an exception for Sasuke from tradition if he really needed to get some Uchiha babies going? (Of course, they would have to get incestuous at some point so that the Sharingan can be saved . . . cough . . . I'm just using the Uchiha and Hyuuga clans as an example, dammit!)
Clans DO get incestous however, but it's more like, distant cousins and stuff like that. I think it's like, five DNA strands of difference or something between two people (siblings) that makes it go wonky when they try and have babies. Neji and Hinata would balance on a knife edge for this one, because eiher their fathers were identitical and therefor they're half the same person, or either they were fraternal, and they could go make babies. (Nejihina makes me BLEH. Kishi would make Hiashi and Hizashi identical, wouldn't he? Wouldn't he do that to make the branch differences more angsty? Didnd't Neji say they had been identical in every way?)
Anywho, do try and think that clans must marry into eachother. Say, the daimyo's daughter marries into a strong family. That's two clans getting it on in the marriage area. And some of the rules I covered above (need of male heir) apply. The children will belong to whichever clan name the mother and father share, methinks. However, they'd just have REALLY BIG FAMILIES. Like, "there's Auntie, no, not that Auntie, the one from daddy's family, not mine . . ." (The idea amuses me.) I think the children of the union wouldn't be that important, unless it came down to bloodline limits and secret family-only techniques . . . what are you going to teach the kid, if he's rightfully, say,a Hyuuga and an Uchiha? Maybe they have to pick one family and stick with it. . . or it depends on how much their eyes 'retain the purity of white.' (CHAPTER OPENING, LOL.)
So in the end we have to remember that basically, clans do marry into eachother. Normally, the female is married off to a male heir somewhere, while her clan back home appoints their male heir head of family (they don't girls, right? That's why all these asian places get fanatical over boy babies). If the clan with the daughter only has daughters, then a male who is NOT a heir would marry in (they won't waste a heir on that . . . second son, anyone?). Of course, there might be tha occasional exception, when we have to remember strength/standing/positio of the clans, bloodline limits (in the case of Naruto), masscares by crazy elder brothers, and who gains the most from the marriage.
I responded with a wall of text, I hope at some point it answered at least one of your questions. ^__^; I'm just blurry on the children thing, I think. And blame all my spelling errors on the fact that my moniter's broken, it was six AM when I started typing, and my fingers are cold.
