You see me
With Un-seeing eyes,
So I look all the more.

Invisibility is a gift.
I see you clearer
At the bottom of the pond
Where nothing stirs,
Than you see me,
hidden in the mud.

I see you,
I know you,
You don't know me.

You lack confidence,
I see it,
Even though you hide it.

You finger your nose,
Avoid looking in mirrors,
Even though you are beautiful.

I see you
From the bottom of the pond,
Looking up from the bottom,
I see what you hide.

I know you.
I love you
For what you are,
Not what you think
You might be.

I am 13.
I am a girl
In your grade.

You are 13.
You are a girl
In my grade.

I am your best friend,
Though you don't know it.

I am your worst critic,
Though you don't know it.

I laugh when you do,
And you look for the sound,
Not looking down.

The bottom of the pond
Can only see the ugly and pretty,
Because it looks up, not sideways.

It doesn't watch what others do.
It knows what they do,
And figures out why.

I figure out why.

I know you,
I love you,
I hate you,
I fear you,
I pity you,
I laugh with you,
I cry when you do,
I am glad for you,
I am sad for you,
I smile for you,
And fight your battles with you.

You never see me
With your un-seeing eyes.
I see you
Clearer
Than you do yourself.
